Sanity, Hi

I wrote the following in response to you "wow." I want you to know that I am a strong supporter of GWB, and I think he is a great man.

I blew out all the circuits? I thought Rudy did a great job the other day describing (in Lincoln's words) the people who are "Americans." Some of the absolutists, including some of the TH worthies, don't fit the definition.

There is a lot going on in politics. Why did some of the strong conservatives in America (Kyl, Chambliss, Issacson, Graham, Bobby Inglis) basically support the Immigration Reform? Because they believe the Republican Party is a dead duck otherwise.

I'll come to your site in a few minutes. (I'm here now.)

Obviously, I think there's a lot going on, not all of it bad. What is bad are comments from the "base," such as the following from one Renee:

"Interesting hypocrisy
It's so interesting to hear so many "conservatives" claim to be for national security...making the outside pretty and all...but yet they have nothing to say about the moral rot that is Rudy ...
who cares if the outside looks good, when the inside of America is a cancerous foundation of goo and different hyphenated ethnic groups with no real affection for America. The terrorist don't need to do anything, just sit back and watch America's greed and arrogance destroy itself...

Again, bring on the Democrat so we can rush it along and get to the real work of cleaning up this country (after everyone is tired of living in squalor)...

Pass the popcorn and call me when its time to clean up and get to the real work (instead of all the hot air lips service)."

Sanity102, these are the rants of a madwoman. I don't think Rudy wants Renee's vote. Insofar as she is part of the base, I don't think he wants anything to do with her. She's the kind of person who inspires hatred toward conservatives. I assume the "goo . . . living in squalor" are the people formerly known as our fellow human beings.

The interesting thing is true-red conservatives like Kyl and Chambliss apparently share of the views of Rudy, Arnold, and McCain.

Hey Sanity

You seem a little disenchanted with TH right now...I'm sorry about that.

Don't worry about Sandra and me, though. It's all a part of getting into the political blogosphere, I guess...:(

It does seem things have gotten rather ugly at times...I would like to see our side be different, and not be ugly, and have civilized dialogue. But alas...I guess that won't always happen. At my place though, I want dialogue, not uglyness. I think it has improved...LOL

I decided to have some fun today...I posted a new blog...check it out!...:)

Btw, Thanks

for the support...it's very nice of you.:)

Sheila

I don't know if it's support so much as being impressed with you and your sister's grit. Almost weekly I see someone retreat from Brian and his minions and I am amazed at your (and Sandra's) determination not to waiver--and still be civil.

I wrote this post for the same reason I write most of my post...because Brian p*ssed me off with his implication that Sandra was a coward for leaving and I wanted to rant.

My success in business depends on my ability to read people and to make an educated guess on which way they will fall. There will come a time when the bloggers on TH WILL turn against Brian...THEN we'll see how much courage he has when his back is against the wall and the mob is moving in on HIM.

Sanity

Hmmm...well, I don't know if it's grit...that's funny...I for one am not an arguing person...:) I did find myself getting irritated about certain discussions, and starting to have the instinct to attack, which is not my style...LOL

I had to stop and take a deep breath, and start over...:)I guess I was surprised when all of a sudden all the criticism seemed to be turned on our side instead of the opposition...

Go figure...

Thanks for bringing up this subject.

Yes, Brian should check out my blogs at Red State if he thinks I can't support my arguments against enormous opposition. They really test you as a new blogger there.

However, I have decided to continue there, but also do some blogging here again too. There are several bloggers that write at both places.

I found a great link, "Bush betrayal syndrome" that I put on on my blog here. It is really great. Meanwhile, I've decided there is no sense in letting Brian run us off. Then he wins.

Sheila & Sandra...

Sheila...you REALLY are a Republican aren't you? Other than Reagan, I don't know anyone as optimistic and believing about the GOP as you. Good for you girl! Not only do I think it makes the Right attractive, but it's also necessary for us to keep our spirits up.

Thanks to you Sandra, I've found another "reasonable" person in the Anchoress. The first time I left (the old TH), it was because I got tired of fighting alone (well with Jim but he was more into the scientific-moral issues and rarely posted.) and feeling like I was the only sane person on the Right.

I think it's important to seek "kindred spirits"...I know we don't always agree but we are agreeable to logic and realism...and those that wander into our blogs need to see that.

By the way Sandra, glad you're back!

Sanity, Great Blog!

Sanity,

This is my first visit to your blog and I have enjoyed it very much.

Regarding TH, I have long thought that the tone and content of the comments would improve greatly if people were required to list their names and locations. Anonymity only benefits the nuts.
