accomodation vs. safety

you know from teaching that it is all about the individual and protecting the individual and making accomodations that put education and other kids at risk. public schools are about the individual and the education and safety of the group is secondary to violating someone IEP or confidentiality.

I went to school down the road in fredericksburg. this could have happened in any college or any high school. there are ticking time bombs out there, but heavens forbid we violate their right to privacy.

the students and staff at Virginia Tech are in my thoughts and prayers.
