Responsibilities

I guess I assumed that God told both not to eat of the tree. Nice catch, Aurora.

In 2:15 it says "The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it". I always assumed that to "keep it" meant to possess it. But now I'm reading that the Hebrew word thats used for keep means "to guard". If thats correct, guard it from who? or what? Was God giving Adam a kind of a heads-up?

Nice catch?

Yes, but not by me. Someone who contributes to my articles pointed it out -- might have been a former pastor, a theologically-trained friend or my teenaged daughter, I don't actually remember.

Yeah, that "keep" part is interesting. I would suggest that we not read too much into it because that may just be the word Moses chose to use and there might not be any double meanings in it. On the other hand, God obviously knew that Satan was going to come around, so telling Adam to "guard" the garden might have been a heads-up.

One of those questions Christians will have answered when we meet God face-to-face, I suppose.
