Turn Out the Lights

It ain't

over 'till the fat lady sings. Good article, but I do see that there are a few people out there willing to send the big 0 his money back. 11 states have re-declared their sovereignty, and are introducing bills to that purpose. I am starting to hear more people saying they are getting tired of the big daddy trying to tell them how to live. Too little, too late? Maybe, But I plan to keep the faith and shed light on the subject to as many people as will listen. Thanks.

DAMN GOOD POST,flag. The time to have fought this crap was 30 years ago. The idea of Constitutional limits on the Federal government has been FORGOTTEN by the very SAME people who know better. Been FAR TOO many on BOTH sides of the aisle contribute to this mess,I think any person running for fed.office NEEDS to take,AND PASS a test showing they KNOW and UNDERSTAND just what the Constitution says and MEANS. It was written so as to be understood by those who ARE NOT lawyers. They seem to be the worst offenders. Quite disgusting ,IMHO.

Apollyon and clyde

Apollyon67: First and foremost, welcome to the Spade! It is always nice to have new voices and viewpoints heard here, so feel free to come by and comment anytime! As for your post, I understand where you're coming from but part of your post just goes to prove how bad the problem is. You know the system of federalism has collapsed when states have to pass legislation to keep the federal government out of their affairs! And sadly, it may be too little too late, since most of the governors whose states were mismanaged into fiscal purgatory are more than willing to gather around the trough for their swill...no matter the strings attached.

Clyde: You're right, this situation should have been addressed years ago. Doing it now is like closing the barn door after the cow's in the cornfield. And it would be nice if candidates had to be able to understand the Constitution, but the way the Courts have mangled it, the original meaning has no place in the consiousness of the people running for office these days.

Here, here, Flag!

Well said.

We saw a smaller version of this self-same problem enacted after the flooding of N'Awlins, too.

Why was that a federal problem to address? It sure looked to me like a state disaster, and a state issue to be addressed.

FDR opened the floodgates, and now we're reaping the whirlwind (to mix my metaphors).

We'll make sure

that we fight for our freedoms, just as our military is doing overseas! I, as many of you, are sick of the lefts commitment in increasing our governments size and interference in our daily lives. Fannie May and Freddie Mac were utter failures, why should the government continue to interfere in which results are most likely similar? These people really need to learn from history and look at what our founders wanted. After all, we haven't been a country for long, and we are the most powerful country in the world. I think that's saying something!

Great post.

Whatever the feds touch

turns to a crrrap sammich.

When exactly did the Constitution get overturned?

Flag

Good post.

I cannot believe we are where we are and that more people don't understand who it is that shreds the Constitution. As Clyde said the Constitution is not that hard to get!!

Worse is that nobody seems to care as long as someone can "offer the fix" to the shirking of responsibility and the thinking that Gov't is going to make it all equal. Oy veh.

Thanks for coming!

Brian: I feel you! With the coming of FEMA the fed had a responsibility to help with the displaced citizens, but the idea of the fed rebuilding an entire city was an abomination.

Eric: The best way to foght for our freedoms is to make an effort to have our voices heard. We have to keep the pressure on the feds to resist and we have to support those governors that are trying to keep their states free.

Crawfish: I couldn't have said it myself!

Nee: The only things the government can make equal for everyone are debt and misery.

Yeah, Flag

And I thought the whole idea of FEMA was low-cost LOANS for rebuilding, not that the electorate-at-large is supposed to foot the bill somehow.

And even THAT wasn't rightfully a federal issue.
