The plug you left at my place was on my last, not current, essay. You may want to go back and re-plug.

Now, I'll return to the essay and read Christian's thoughts.

Great idea, man!

Christian

I am truly impressed by your thoughts, and your expression of them. Well done, and my kudos to your Dad. He obviously did a fine job of teaching, and you did a terrific job of listening.

I know it's difficult for a young person to have to "choose" between conflicting philosophies when your parents don't agree.

But none of us agree with any other of us on everything. The only person in life with whom you'll agree 100% of the time is yourself. So ultimately, you have to make these decisions for yourself, because YOU are the one who's going to have to live with them, and the results of the actions you take pursuant to your beliefs.

Personally, I agree with what you wrote. For someone of your tender age, you have a fine grasp of the issues, and express yourself very well.

I found humor in there, too! "Face it, Obama is a big boob!"

Well... yeah! That about sums it up!

I'm sure your Dad considers himself fortunate to have a son like you. My daughter's somewhat older than you -- she's 22 -- but like you she's a solid conservative in the traditional meaning of the word. She makes me very proud, and I well remember when she was your age and, like you, started talking politics, and how happy I was to learn she'd absorbed not only my interest in politics but my conservatism, too.

This country will belong to you (and her) in just a very few years, and people like your Dad and I are hoping you guys will be able to take over the reins, and have more success than we've had lately.

Thank you, Christian, for taking the time and making the effort to share your thoughts in your Dad's blog. I enjoyed reading your essay, very much.

Thank you for your kind words and you are right my dad and I don't agree on everything but a lot of things. He is a fantastic guy and one of the best political science teachers I will probably ever have. I stand by everything stated in my essay and though he cleaned it it up a bit I expressed all of the opinions in that essay.I thank my dad for teaching me everything and sending me into the political world ready. Your concern about the future of America is well embraced and shared by me. It is up to our generation to take control and make America what it was meant to be, not what we think America should be. Thanks again for your comments and hopefully I will be writing on this blog again. - Christian

I hope you will, too.

Knowing that there are people like you and my daughter moving into play, I feel better about the future.

I just posted my thoughts on Sotomayor at my place. Drop by when you have a chance.

Christian

Splendid job, young man! Since you,and your peers, truly ARE the country's future, your ability to think about these issues, and articulate them well,is a HUGE feather in your cap.Christian, far too many ADULTS cannot grasp the political landscape as you have here,at a time in your life when it is WAY more important for them to do so than you. I encourage you to hijack your Dad's blog every so often to weigh in on things. It is refreshing to read what the younger generations think. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I don't know if I would hijack his blog but I think I would try to wiegh in on things more often. I think the reason iI am in the minority when it comes to being able to think and talk about politics is because my dad talks to me about politics and makes sure I understand. As far as the adults that aren't able to grasp these things, well, their big bone-heads. If they can't continue a political conversation that is thier fault and should just keep their mouths shut on issues they have no idea about. Thank you for the kind words and I should come and talk about the issues more often.

Hahahahaha!

Well said.

Get used to dealing with "boneheads" in your life.

that's my boy!

As you can see, he has very little patience for people who speak without knowing what they're talking about! I guess he gets that from me, because that's pretty much the way I am too!
