A Tale of Two Kitties

I'm a sucker...

...for cats in distress. But two is all we're allowed here. Eventually I'll post photos on my other Live Spaces blog (and put that one on my blog roll), but it'll be awhile yet.

Meanwhile, enjoy yours. The purr makes it all worthwhile.

That's how it all begins...

...one....then two....then three....then in a couple of years I'll be reading about how they condemned your house do to all the animals and feces knee deep and the interviewed neighbors saying "I never knew what went on next door. They seemed so nice. Every now and then in the evening during summertime we could smell something coming from their home, but never thought it would be anything like this."

I'll see ya on Drudge, buddy.

Jimmy

Two cats, one capable of adventuring outdoors and one too lazy to do much besides rotate among several sleeping sites in a three story Victorian with only two humans to get in their way is hardly an unmanagable horde. Two seems to be the optimum number of cats. My goodness you are becoming so jaded Jimmy. It's not like I'm fending off Okies and Cajuns at the Texas border!

Phoenix Lady

The new cat (Margo) has certainly pepped up the old cat (Hero) considerably. I can pick Margo up and she's fairly affectionate.

We're going to have to take her to the vet and have her checked out if she's going to stay here. Hero has been neutered, so there's no risk there, but if she isn't spayed, we're going to have to do it before she brings Jimmy's nightmare scenario to fruition. We can't let her out if she's not spayed.

Scottie

I had four cats at various times...the story is pretty much like yours...and of course I was a softy too, and my hubby who said cats were for sissies, could be seen with darling Crystal the Persian grey beauty sleeping peacefully on his tummy, while laying on the floor, watching football...:)

yea, I know

yea, I know where this came from...you read my point #6 "I much prefer dogs to cats"

Scottie

While I was married, we lived in a huge woods, so we kept several cats (usually 3, sometimes more) to eat the mice. We dearly loved all of them.

After my divorce all the cats we had either died or ran off.

So,I got a new kitty when I moved into my condo and she was with me for the last 16 years and I had to put her down a couple of weeks ago. It about broke my heart.
I brought a dog into my little family, a Welsh Corgi, when he was a puppy and my cat accepted him immediately. That was 7 years ago.

So, Dakota (my dog, and Tosca, my cat) became good buddies and behaved like Garfield and Odie.
Dakota wanted to chew shoes so I would put my shoes up on the table (I know that sounds awful, but one has to take desperate measures at times) and Tosca would get up on the table and push the shoes off while Dakota was waiting under the table for them. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this the first time. But,when I saw Tosca doing it over and over I figured she either was trying to get him into trouble or she wanted him to have my shoesto play with.

They also played in the toilet together one time.

Anyway, now that Tosca is gone, poor Dakota is grief stricken. He looked for her for a week.
Then, one night, while I was blogging, I heard him start howling like a wolf. It was a piercing, god forsaken sound. I about knocked myself out trying to get to the other room because I thought something bad had happened to him. Here he was under the kitchen table where Tosca used to lie just looking so forlorn. So Dakota and I have been a little grief stricken here the last two weeks.

Scottie, you're a good guy Charlie Brown for taking the cat in. I always say I think you can judge a man how he treats animals and kids. So looks like your wife to be picked a good one.

A Tail of Two Kitties

It was the best of litters, it was the worst of litters, it was the age of fresh tuna, it was the age of dry kibble, it was the epoch of the feline, it was the epoch of the canine, it was the season of catnip, it was the season of baths ...

Jimmy,

There was this house near where my parents live that had an untold number of cats. Everytime we drove by, the roof (yes, the roof) of the house was covered by cats. We would always try to count how many there were. One time I got to 40 before the house was out of view. There was no telling how many more were on the side of the roof that was not visible from the road. Then, one day, they were all gone. Suffice it to say, I've never seen that many cats at one place at one time.

I agree

with the Missus. "You're a good guy, Scottie.! Now, explain why you call her Missus if she wants to marry you - which means you are not married yet. That would make her the "Missus in waiting."

Thanks for the literary spin in your own inimatable style. Funny stuff.
