The ladies at my church say that to our minister every so often as encouragement.

You have outlined and detailed a cure for much of the apathy shown by some youngsters, and oldsters too. I have heard that excuse many times for failing to do what is right or doing something that is wrong, and it eats at my heart.

My dad taught me things like, "Not everything you have to do is going to feel good or be pleasant, but that doesn't mean you don't have to do them". He hated it when the saying, "If it feels good, do it," became popular. He didn't believe that either.
