It's not about money to the treasury, it's about fairness. It's only fair if the government(Dems) gets to choose who gets lucky.

Obama basically admitted in Wednesday's debate when responding to Charlie Gibson's question about the historical effects on revenue of raising the capital gains tax, that even if it COSTS the government money to do so, he is in favor of raising the capital gains tax so that "the wealthy" pay their fair share. This happens to be, by the way, a complete contradiction of his pledge from earlier in the same debate of not to increase taxes on those making less than $200,000 a year.
