2009 Looks Like 1934

I cast my vote for planned destruction.
The numbers provided by the libs in the "stimulus" package and all the other spending programs are too skewed for anybody with one working brain cell to actually believe they will work. The only excuse I can think of is that the DC crew may actually not have one working brain cell. (among the lot). Therefore, the only logical deduction is that planned destruction is the goal. (I'm feeling like Sherlock Holmes)
Great cartoon and congrats on figuring how to post it.

How could
it be possible that the cartoon matches exactly what is happening now when it was penned in 1934? Change Wallace to Obama. Change Stalin to Europe. Change Richberg and Ickes to Geithner and Bernanke. Columbia and Harvard still apply of course
Thanks for the cartoon!

Beautiful job - nice an big and easy to read (especially for old eyes). It is really amazing how well that 75-year-old cartoon applies today.

Great blog, Bob`s Nephew! And excellent find! So hard to change the truth when it is right before your eyes! In my sick way, there are a few of those low lifes I would prefer to see under the wagon wheels in place of the American taxpayer.
Good job posting the image, too!

I'm a little behind in responses, but thanks for the comment. We are in a period of time when Truth and the World with it are turned upside down. The lies are running rampant and the liars are in charge.

You are so right. Read the post following this where I put my little spin on this cartoon. You make my point here. Funny thing about this cartoon. I found it on my Twitter feed. Someone had posted it on their Facebook. I contacted them and he was able to tell me that a friend of his in Serbia had sent it to him. Amazing! I did a search and could not find it on the internet. It might be in the Trib archives but they charge to do a search in there.

I have tried to envision how this 'toon would be drawn if original to today. It's hard to improve on the original.

Hi Nee
Thanks for coming by the Grill. It may be interesting to know that cartoon came to me via my Twitter account. The guy who posted it put it on his Facebook page. I contacted him and he actually sent me a better image to use. He got it from a friend of his who lives in Serbia. Hmmm!
Carey Orr was one of the great "old-time" political cartoonists. An interesting guy.
Martha Orr, his niece, drew the strip "Apple Mary" in the 30's.

NO to Wilsonian Progressivism. Bring back the Founder's America. Americans have GOT to get educated. Good cartoon, and eerily perfect for today. How often does THAT happen. Good one!

Wilsonian Progressivism? Is that where we started to jump the tracks? I suppose that's about right. Many of FDR Admin. came out of the Wilson Admin. That Liberal Fascism might have even been sprouted from the seeds planted during Teddy Roosevelt's Progressivism.

You're right. Teddy and Woodrow are the folks Hillary admires. They got the progressive ball rolling here. I prefer Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, you know, the usual group of racist xenophobic haters.
