Comment on: Pesky Truth

We the Pawns

We the Idiots and "Paid" Voters...

is perhaps more to the truth. If the 2010 mid-terms do not RADICALLY change the US House, then all we have left is open revolt.

If the US Congress looks at the 2010 elections and sees that "We the People" are not going to take this any longer, then perhaps the revolution can be bloodless. If, on the other hand, the 2010 elections do not make any radical changes, then we approach the "Lexington and Concord" moment.

Because sooner or latter, the US Congress will pass a gun confiscation or universal healthcare program (which "rations" health care).

In other words, the lines are drawn. It is for one side or the other to start the dance.

I am cautiously optomistic, Gray

And I'm trying to gather input from other sources. Here within TH, we are the choir so it's easy to believe that the whole country is as pi$$ed off as we are. But I do see evidence that masses of voters are close to revolt. I hope that we are able to make a significant change in congress in 2010.

Do Nothing Government

I would welcome back the do nothing government of the past. I would rather do nothing then destroy democracy. Excellent points.

Uh oh ...

you may not like what I am going to say. So let me start with my overall remarks about your post. Bravo! Well reasoned, well written and sharply to the point.

Now for the uh oh ... IMHO we don't "hire" anyone. These folks are elected. "Hiring" insinuates a business relationship and that puts those not elected outside the boardroom i.e."pawns." May sound like a silly little things, but it's the little things that matter (to steal a phrase).

Finally, I am a hairs breath of adopting the "any one but the incumbent" method of voting.

So would I, Patrick

Do nothing was bad, but this is worse. What we're experiencing now is nothing short of national suicide.

Mrs. AL, understand your point

I shouldn't have characterized the relationship that way. As someone who started and ran a successful business for over 25 years, there are damn few of our congresspersons that I would have hired. In my case, I have two good ones, Sam Johnson, rep. and John Coryn, senator - and one who is on shaky ground: Kay Baily Hutchinson, my other senator.

But, like you, I'm close to "anyone but the incombent" vote.

Bang for the buck

Oh, we get lots of bang for the buck. It's called BOHICA.

Well. I, for one, am the last of the BOHICANs. I'm not going quietly into the dark night. They do the job they are being paid to do or they're out of there. Can't read bills? Maybe the want ads will be more to their liking.

Good summation, as usual.

Garnet

I choose open revolt. NOTHING has gotten the attention of Reid, Pelosi, etc like being upbraided by WE THE PEOPLE at Town Hall meetings.

MD/MG, they can always find a

conservative to read the want ads to them.

I'm tired of "bending over," and I'm fed up with their arrogant, elitist behavior. For the good of the country, we need to dump about half of them.

They call themselves "public servants" that's so much BS. We need to take control. We need new blood that will listen to their constituents.

Right Georgetwin, and they don't like it

If we, the conservative people, don't falter and keep protesting at every opportunity, we COULD take back the House. I know that's a lofty goal, but removing Nancy as Speaker would be an added bonus. That's about the only way that we're going to be able to redirect some of what D'ohbama's done already.

When exactly

did the Constitution get declared null and void? We wouldn't have those fiscal problems if every bit of spending was verified as Constitutional, according to the actual words not the "living breathing" version, before being allowed to happen. Oh, I forgot. The Constitution is just a document for those eeeevillll right wing fringe extremists.

Didn't Queen of the House Red Nanny P-Lousy promise bi-partisanship and civility in her speech when she took the gavel 2.5 years ago?

Nancy and the gavel

When she banged that gavel the first time in Jan 2007 she said it was "for the children" - CLOSE, but no cigar - the children were on her mind all right, but the banging was ON the heads of the children, and their children, and the children to come for several generations as she and Wh0rehouse Harry engineered the stealing of those futures to satisfy political debts incurred during their rise to power. That their personal wealth expanded at such a remarkable rate was only by chance. Riiighttt!

Who is going to

have the cojones to pry the gavel out of peelousy's clenched fist? I think I'd rather try soul kissing a rattlesnake. It'd be a lot less dangerous.

Not only that, Craw, she brought with

her (she said), a committment to the Constitution, no one knew that her committment was to DESTROY the Constitution. The seminal document of this country is viewed by her and her cronies as "an old piece of paper" and they give it that much respect.

In her Speaker acceptance speech, she said, "I accept this gavel in the spirit of partnership, not partisanship, and I look forward to working with you Mr. Boehner and the Republicans in the Congress on behalf of the American people."

I haven't seen any evidence of "bipartisanship" anywhere in her zipcode. She is a far left, self-serving liar, pure and simple.

I haven't tried to verify Saltwater

but seems that I recall that Nancy and her husband invested in T. Boone's "Over the Rainbow" wind farm. The failed concept that he is now folding.

I wonder what she'll do with her share of those 687 homeless wind turbines now?

MD/MG, you make EXCELLENT points

I'm not sure that Dirty Harry, Rambo, and the Terminator between them have the balz to even try that. I think we'll just have to get another gavel.

Libertarians Unite!

The best thing we can do is seriously start a movement. One that goes after the establishment wings in both paries. So far I am not impressed with Michael Steel. His first order of business was to go after Rush Limbaugh. The democrats are pure socialists whereas the republicans are always caving to the beltway media. There has to be a better way to find hope and change. Real change begins at the party level. I am an independent who may join the likes of Wayne Allyn Root and Bob Barr. Why not?

Can't disagree David

I really think that many (maybe most) conservatives are almost as unhappy with the Republicans as with the Dumbocrats. They for the most part have been the lesser of the two evils. A real conservative leader is what we sorely need (and I don't think that Steele is the one). But for now, I think that we need to dump almost all of the Congress and start with a few keepers and a lot of new blood.

Garnet

Merely throwing them out isn't good enough. To think that elected members of Congress CHASTIZING the VERY PEOPLE who put them in there in the first place isn't short of insanity on the congcritter's part astounds me. It is my fervent hope the anger rising up among the folks can somehow smoulder until 10/10.Then,dump a can of gas on it.A wholesale purge in D.C. is so desparately needed.

I am loving it, clyde

FINALLY, the so-called silent majority is rising up and telling our legislators to shape up or we'll ship them out. Their arrogance is amazing - they refuse to accept that there are citizens who understand what Congress (and D'ohbama) are trying to do and are dead-set against it - and anxious to publicly vent their opinion.
