Ich Bin Ein Obama

Hmmmmm......

We must not be watching the same news casts. Obama was using "wall" to look presidential. Reagan looked presidential, conclusion, try to look Reaganesque.

Obama is the consummate political hack, oddly accomplished for a neophyte and is moving to the center in typical political style. If you've had a chance to catch him off script his blazing oratory is more incoherent than Bush. At least Bush makes up funny words, Obama just um's and ah's while he gropes for a coherent thought.

McCain's campaign to this point has been worthy of the tag everyone was so quick to lay on Thompson. "No fire in the belly."

You should read "You can trust Obama (to be Obama) over at Interface's blog. Scary stuff. http://theinterface.blogtownhall.com/default.aspx

sarge, he is actually invoking reagan

when was the last time you saw a democrat have the nerve to do that?

this guy is not the typical hillary hack. but i would think that all democrats have more of a tendency to be hacks, as true individuality is left behind at the voting booth for most dems. the party platform demands it. they thrive on group think.

he's trying to move to the center, all right. but again, this is a democrat. the democratic party is now looking more and more like the United States of California every day. like california, they pack power in any election, but can't even win this one without swing voters. and all this centrist talk is still just nothing but talk with obama. there is no real record of bipartisanship. but at least there is not the demonizing demogogueship that hillary brought to the table, demonstrated by her astronomically high negatives.

after all this hoopla, after all this media drooling, this man might lose. and it won't be barack obama that will be being rejected. he's the most electrifying candidate they've had in decades. it will be the democratic party platform that will lose. will they admit it?

you must be kidding.

Free Food and Concerts

Were all of the people really there to see Obama? Wasn't there concerts and free food? Was David Hasselhoff the opening act? They love him in Germany.

Hey, making fun of my state, California. Help me now! We have really taken a turn for the worse and continue into a downward spiral.

As for Obama, he says what his audience wants to hear. And then does an about face. The Democrats are so happy with him, he could rob a bank and they would all cheer!

maybe skep can help you

he's from california

just warning you though, sue

skep's a cat, and his real name is breezer.

i won't vouch for the advice. okay?

Sad State

My state is sad. I mean sad. Look at what we have, Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Waters...and the Gov. And of course all of Hollywood to cheer Obama on...

right, boxer and feinstein immediately

came to mind. and barbara streisand. if skep doesn't come by, stop by his blog b/c he's always railing on ca. you know, i can picture obama events like carnivals. it fits with the jib-jab utopia concept (him riding on a unicorn, etc.)...

I'm With Sue!

People who dont live in California dont have any idea how crazy things can get. This is a conservative state, every conservative ballot initiative on the ballot (if they're understood by the voters) passes with a large margin, to be promptly thrown out by liberal judges. The Dems win by adroit use of 'social issues'. Californians think abortion should be legal and they hate the people who say things like 'God sent AIDS to punish gay people for their sins' and are generally in favor of restrictions on the ownership of guns.'The social activists' guarantee that Republican candidates are burdened by enough social issue baggage to ensure their defeat at the polls at the hands of the Babs Boxers and a crowd of lesser but by no means less crazy leftists who are taking this state into the toilet.

I agree with sue

Sue, good analysis. also I am so sorry about your stste (CA), I am lucky enough to have left NY 2yrs ago and ended in FL, not perfect place but it ain't CA or NY

doling out punishment

well, the dem social agenda should ultimately punish everyone in the same way, regardless of culpability.

and isn't that what the dems are all about?

Skep41

It is getting old that when we vote for a measure on the ballot and it wins overwhelmingly and then off to the courts it goes.

Remember PROP 187?

Look at the gals we have, Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Waters....Yes, we have some real winners supporting us. How come they keep getting re-elected?

Beltway Girl

I have written Boxer and Feinstein a ton of times. Barbra Streisand, that is a good one.

Can you imagine Obama events here? Today we will be having a large carnival on the lawn and tomorrow off to Disneyland. Yipeee! Vote for Hope and Change!

KevInFl

Mock my state. At least I am in SoCal away from San Francisco. That place sure is turning into...I don't know what!

Glad to you like Florida. Do you have a lot of Obama supporters by you?

I see today on television we are still harping on the World Tour/Magical Mystery Tour/Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show.

Maybe Obama thinks Germany is the 58th state????

Sue

Right on re Germany the 58th state!!!!

Sue...Don't Be A Sexist

I live in the district of Henry 'The Whack-man' Waxman. The boys in this state are every bit as stupid and idiotic as the girls and I'm not putting up with any feminist blather to the contrary. Mark Ridley-Thomas and the LA City Council just ignored our spiralling out-of-control city budget deficit to spend days passing an ordinance outlawing new licenses for fast food outlets in South Central because minorities have higher cholesterol than their white oppressors. Our Beloved Mayor VivaLaRaza has been doing a round-the-clock gay marriage marathon in his office. The Speaker of the State Assembly has taken time out from dodging his numerous pending felony charges to help pass a law mandating 'Global Warming Education' in all grades (the Jerkinator vetoed it). But my favorite Lib Of The Month (also a boy) is the Federal Judge who has cut off LA and San Francisco's water supply to protect some endangered fish who have been doing fine up to now. At some point we hope the voters (the non-illegal alien mental patient phantom address ones that is) will notice that they just lost their job and the water and electricity deliveries to their homes has stopped. We can dream.

meow! you see, sue?

i told you he was a cat.

just kidding, skep

a damn smart cat, though.

Beltway Girl

Excellent post, great insights and analysis. I will keep comming back for more! Wish I could be as clear and concise.

I stand by my original conclusion. Obama was engaged in a little political theater in Berlin, he wanted people to think presidential and they did. You picked up on it. Hence the title of the article and your thoughts of Reagan. This is political song and dance at it's best.

The standard formula for presidential races is secure your base and then move to the center to pick up moderates and so-called independents.

The GOP candidate is the first I have ever seen that is not following this formula. McCain ignored the right, started in center and moved left....and then right....and then left....you get it.

I agree that since Obama's campaign is more theater than substance he could lose, not on the issues, but theatrical scourge of being over exposed. Actors have to worry about that.

Beltway

Good to see you back in action.

As for VP selection, my top 2 choices are Michael Steele and JC Watts.

hey craw!!

like michael steele loads, also jc watts. what about condoleezza rice?

would really have liked huckabee, but he's much too "radical" for an audience now going 50% for the most liberal senator in existence.

romney would win michigan.

if obama actually goes ahead with this tim kaine thing, it's going to be a complete disaster for his entire effort, right from day one at the statehouse. seriously, he could throw the whole thing away with something like this.

I thought the Germany speech

was pretty embarrassing actually...he garbled history when he talked about the Berlin airlift, it was much more a fitting metaphor for winning in Iraq than for abandoning Iraq, and many of the people there seemed to know it. His call for NATO to actually step up and contribute in Afghanistan was a shock to them, and they didn't know how to respond. And in the wake of his Israel trip, Olmert who lasted through his own disaster and retreat in Lebanon, through all the worsening of conditions in the West Bank and Gaza, and through years of suicide bombings and inept management, decided to resign. Hardly a resounding success as seen in part by his lack of bounce in polls. His reference to the wall rang hollow when compared with Reagans substantive and bold call to Gorbachev which at the time was seen as dangerous and provocative.
