It is a historical fact that long after the adoption of the First Amendment, various states had their own OFFICIAL Christian denominations! Congress (federal) is not allowed to name one official national religion or church. But more importantly, we are all free to practice our religion and VOTE according to our conscience, including with a religious influence in mind.

I do not want to force atheists to be Christians, or keep homosexuals from living with the person of their choice. But nobody should be able to force the people of California to neuter marriage licensing against our will.
