Iowa Caucus Excitement

People are idiots, you know what I mean?

Scott,

I have had a good time reading your blog. I thought I would share a few of my own thoughts. I too noticed the prejudices of the southeast. I recall taking a psychology class at a CC in that area after serving in the US Army. The enter semester, the instructor referred to me as a red neck. Then I had a lady call me un-American because of my religious belief. It is kind of ironic that religious bigotry is in itself un-American.

Come back and take refuge in the wonderful central Iowa.

I was reading the Washington Post poll for Republicans in Iowa dated December 19th. The results show Mitt trailing 27% to 35% against Huck. Then if you look at all of the issues (only between these two, nobody else in Iowa matters):

Even on the war against terror (16 M-17 H) and Iraq (18-18).

Even on immigration (24-22).

Mitt is down on social issues (25-37). I have never changed my opinion on anything either. ;) It seems to me that as you continue to increase your knowledge and experiences, your views on something’s evolve.

35% trust Mitt with the economy, only 25% for Huck.

A fence requires materials and the labor is not free (though if you believe a fence will solve our problems you're a bit naive). Intelligence gathering and fighting a war on two fronts isn't free either. No programs will succeed if the economy is suffering. We need a strong economy.

Mitt has the best chance of getting elected president (35-24). When a guy in your party reminds you of a cartoon character, the independents will see him the same way. A president needs to be presidencial. Huckleberry's recent cover up for his insidious attack on Mitt's religion reminds me of my children when they are caught misbehaving... "Wa wa what???? I was just..." Lets see, getting into trouble. Go to your room!!!

Also, what is this about only allowing 2000 characters in a response… sounds like more government to me.

But you only used 1904 characters! :P

Great response. Yeah, southeastern Iowa is a funny place. I like living here for religious-historic-family reasons (it's close to Mormon historic sites in Nauvoo, where my great-great-great-great-great grandfather lived). But I wouldn't want my kids going to school down here.

Tancredo is dropping out this weekend. We can hope he throws his support on the best anti-illegal immigration candidate.
