Thanks for a great post, very logical and reasonable approach.
If only the enviro-socialists and congress could see the reasoning as well as you, perhaps they could make pass a bill that helps intead of harms.
I heard yesterday that it might only take 3 years for increased oil production and refining. Many inovations have been developed since the 1970's. If you go to the Arctic Power Energy website you will find the oil well footprint has changed dramatically especially on the North Slope.

Simple steps to insure energy security.
1) Declare a national energy emergency. This would force congress to show their hand. They are either for us or against us.
2) Appoint an Energy Czar. His duties would be to "Fast Track" new construction of nuclear plants, oil refineries, drilling, distribution etc.
3) State goals for increased oil production. Example, our goal is two million barrels per day. 100000 barrels by the end of this year. Additional 300000 barrels each year.
This announcement alone will take the wind out of the speculators, and the price of crude will turn around.
It's a start!

These are great thoughts. We just need to speak loudly enough to be heard. Keep the chatter going, and maybe truth will roar through the political rhetoric which prevents a real energy solution.

Obama states he doesn't look like all the other presidents on those dollar bills, and those 5 dollar bills. Well there is a reason for that. He has a stunning resemblance to the pictures on the wooden nickle, and 3 dollar bill, AND just as phony!!!
