"Why shouldn't we, give me one good reason why not? What is wrong with this?"
For the elites, it's simple. If we were to do this they would have to set aside their drinking, drugging, whoring, and hatred. Those in society who push perversion as normality and selfishness as good have too much to lose if people turned back to Christian principles.
Even in my own experience it's hard to think of someone before yourself. Self-sacrifice and doing for others is hard. Obeying God's rules, we are told, stifles our own "inner being." Well, that's right. Our corrupt and rotten "inner being" is being stopped, and replaced by a new self. Those who want to satisfy every lust and desire don't want to hear what they do is wrong. I don't think fear of Islam is going to change that. They don't believe that the Islamists are serious. How far gone can you be to join a group called "Queers For Palestine?"
I'm afraid for most of us, it's far too late to change. Change must come from outside us. The Church is spreading greatest in Africa at this moment. Perhaps we should become a new mission field for the Church....

Hello Scott. I would have to answer you "NO." Absolutely not...we must begin to change, the others have nothing to change either from or to in the sense we are speaking...for their decisions shape not the world.
They (Africa and the world) look to us for help, guidance, and spiritual nurishment in so many ways. We set the example, it is our obligation, and their hope.
Also, no one expects saintliness from creeps. But, one can be a sinner and still acknowledge what is "right." It is not impossible...(I do it all the time!) It is our task to articulate the seriousness of the threat, but primarily it is our task to act upon this threat whether or not it is yet "bath-house-chic" or the stuff of Oprah. To do nothing at all is categorically wrong. If we lead, they will follow.
Essentially, even the victimized minorities in the West must confess that their own respective public acknowledgement is borne of the virtue of Christian tolerance, which has its sources firmly ensconced within the framework of an over-arching Judeo-Christian moral paradigm. I thank you for your comments, and I dont disagree with you with respect to the difficulties...but it is the hand that we are dealt, and it is not going to change. It is the hand we have to play.

What it boils down to me is this, religion, any religion if it is going to be real and effective must have at it's core morality. I put the emphasis on morality because that is where so much is lacking at the present time. Which isn't to say you should forget about all the other aspects of Christianity. However, you can debate every nuance to death (believe me I know because I belong to a church that has done that)but if that religion does not produce a better moral person it doesn't mean squat.
The problem in America is we have massive amounts of people who go to Church, claim they are christian but you would never know it by how they live. Then we wonder why American religion is having so little effect. Jesus was very clear, when he said, "If salt has lost it's saltiness, it is good for nothing."
It makes little difference be it America or Africa the principle is the same, for Christians to be effective, they must first of all be moral. Too many think the solution is a political one, hence the rise in political involvment in politics by many churchs. However, you have never been able to legislate morality. Morality comes from a change of heart and only God has the power to change our hearts. However, once He has changed our heart we must have the courage to stand againts immorality. However, there is something else one must realize about morality.
If every person who says they are a Christian in America were to be the moral person that Christ wants them to be today, don't think that would change the overall moral climate of American tomorrow. Just as it took time for immorality to grow to what it is in this country today, it will take time for America to become a more moral country. Again I refer to what the scriptures say, "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." The admonition was aimed at allowing evil go get started because once it does it will eventually take over.
So,what is it going to take to move our country back to a greater degree of morality? Well, as I see it that usually happen in only in a few ways. One way is for a nation to suffer a great tragedy, and we saw that a little when 911 happened, there was a tick up in Church attendance. The problem is before we'll see much of any change in America it will take a even greater tragedy than 911. The other way is for Christianity as whole to have a massive call for repentance and a request for forgiveness. A good example from the Bible is the nation of Israel, every time they turned their back on God He allowed them to suffer the results of their sinning. However, when they turned back to God you would see a corresponding rise in the morality of the nation, (repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of moral behavior). A good example is found throughout the book of Neihemiah.
Now as to the point of morality and tolerance. To understand this point you must first understand the area of authority the Church operates within. This could get long and drawn out but let me make it as simple as I can. Within the confines of the Church is the only place christian leaders are allowed to exercise any tolerance towards those that behave in a immoral way(and there is a lot more that could be said on this). However, never will you find an example of those who preach the Gospel of Christ expressing tolerance toward those who are living immoral lives. They may be kind, repectful and do good to those who are immoral but never mistake that for tolerance of their immorality. Rather they always called them to repentance from their evil works. That is the extent of their authority. They can do all with their power to try and persuade and exhort them to turn from immorality to God but beyond that they have no authority. Every example you find in the New Testament where a leader of the Church spoke directly with a political leader you will find this to be the case.
So if you want to get back to the "roots" in my opinion that is what you will be doing. To think we can somehow apply enough poltical pressure via our voting block and that will result in lasting changes within our country is delusional. That isn't to say one should not vote, it's just we should not delude ourselves into thinking that is an end all solution.
Now, just imagine what this country would be like if the majority of the people were truly moral in the Christian sence. One thing it would leave little room for Islamic terrorist to critize our nation for it's immorality, (not that is any justification for their behavior.) If you think we are powerful nation now, just imagine what we could be if you were to change that. Change that, and other countries still may not follow our lead but you would certainly have a nation better equipped to respond to Islamic terrorist.

Hello dhope,
I thank you for your lengthy and informative comment. I had written a reply a week or so ago, but the internet connection failed, and it was lost. If you are still perusing these pages, let me know and I will respond more fully.
Essentially, I agree with most of what you convey. I do want to suggest to you however, that morality is definately not the goal of faith, it is but one indicator of faith. An important one, indeed!
The goal of Chritian faith is sanctification from the One Triune Uncreated God...in other words...transformatizing "holiness." (Thru Grace.)
Muslims, Bhuddists, atheistis, and Hindus can be moral. (I know some, and I am ashamed, sometimes.)If we are only to be moral, we will only be as good as the best of them. The story and message of Christ calls us beyond the realm of morality, and bequethes to us the Life of the Uncreated God who has revealed himself as Trinity. Aloha for now...

Agreed! To my way of thinking, it is God through the Holy Spirt who writes his law upon our hearts that produces a truly moral life.
Yes, there are people who are not Christian and those who say they are Christian who can imitate morality and society is better off for it when they do. However, as the saying goes,"there is nothing like the real thing."
Morality without the fellowship of God is empty of all joyful vitality. Perhaps the reason there are so many who say they are Christians but live an morally confused life is because they do not really know HIM!!!
I do think you must be careful when exhorting people to embrace Christianity though. Why? Because that is a very all emcompassing term and means many differnt things to people. If you mean Christianity as taught and practiced as we read in the New Testament I would agree.

The exhortation to embrace Christianity is heartfelt and sincere...but not simply one encouraged on the basis of Faith or any simplistic formulation. It was meant originally by me, as a refutation to those of us who are faced with the inescapable invitation to embrace Islam, or be subjugated or die.
It is true, that the term "Christianity" today means many things. There is a truly lamentable reason for this, which I can't go into here. It would take years.
My strong sense is that in the absence of Christianity, we are doomed when confronted with Islam. Of course, I mean TRUE Christianity...undefiled. Not liberal or overly ecumenical efforts that actually believe that "all paths lead to God." These works within the Church of God are generated from a dark, dark place.
Why do I say this? I say this because our modern humanistic approaches to life are empty, and without the power to confront a "religious?" ideology that is energized to a degree that humanistic forces cannot withstand...exactly because they are only "of this world." The west spends too much time enjoying their freedoms, and too little actually appreciating them properly or fighting for them.
Before the Bible, there was Tradition. Tradition gave us Holy Scripture. This is historical fact. (The Bible was Canonized by Catholic/Orthodox Bishops in the fourth century.)
However, we have to start from where we are now. The first thing to do is to acknowledge and accept our Christian heritage. Europe is largely ashamed of it, as are the liberals in North America. It must be re-invigorated in order to not only endure the Godless assaults of Islam, but also to breathe life back into our nations, our families, our lives, our institutions.

A question on how
If I understand you correctly, you believe that to stand againts Islam, we must get people to embrace true Christianity, is that correct?
If that is the case, I have a few questions. How do you think that should happen?
Next it would seem that you believe once society embraces Christianity that we will be able to endure the assult of Islam, I ask why do you think that will be the result?
Because the brand of Islam that is causing the problems advocates a religion that would judge all who do not accept the koran teaching worthy of death, should the resistance to such teaching be by goverments or religion?
If that resistance is to be done by those who follow Christianity, what kind of resistance should it be?

Yes, it is correct that to prevail against Islam, we must do so in Christ. Islam is not simply a religious and politcal ideology, it is energized by evil. Only Christ can prevail over the source of evil. I know that this may sound "trite" to most, but nevertheless, it is so...and I make no apologies. Now, one may say..."there are good and God-fearing Muslims and evil Christians." OK. God alone judges individual people, but people are called upon to judge evil behaviors and re-act to them. Evil is an equal-oppurtunity employer. The West must re-Christianize in order to prevail against both Islam, and humanistic atheism as well as her bastird children.
How should it happen? First, by refusing to renounce actually physically fighting in defense of what is truly Good. Pacifism is NOT a Christian virtue when your childrens' lives, your friend's lives, or even the lives of strangers are threatened by ghouls. It is even less a virtue when the adversary's goal is to annihalate the One True Faith as revealed in the God-Man Jesus Christ. (Did you read how the Iraqi Islamists beheaded a poor defenseless 14 year old Assyrian Christian boy three days ago? This is my point! To do nothing in the face of evil is categorically WRONG.)
Can Truth endure adulteration with error, and still be Truth? In Him "there is no darkness at all, nor shadow of turning." I believe that, in the end...the Good shall prevail. "Upon this rock I shall build my Church, and the Gates of Hades will not prevail against it." It's a given, and we have it good authority.
Only in the modern Western world could your next question be phrased as it is. I understand. First, it is NOT a "brand" of Islam. Islamic scriptures support terror, murder, beheadings, slavery, misogny, tyranny, and utter extermination of the infidel. This is the problem with Islam. They have a scriptural basis for perpetrating abysmal evil against all. Christians and Jews may do evil, but they have no scritural basis for the permission of such. The worldy powers lie in the hands of government, the tools to counter Islamists must be thru these hands. May it be by a religiously informed government, that is Christian at its core. Otherwise, another "religion" will emerge holding the reigns of unspeakable power...and evil will multiply exponentially.
Speak truth, and don't be afraid. Talk to those who will listen, and sometimes to those who won't hear. Love what is Good and don't apolgize. Learn about our history, and repent, praise God, and pray. Do good to your enemies when you can, but don't be a sucker playing into the hands of the devil who knows that a modern Christian's weakness is in a mistaken sense of tolerance and compassion, which is really just a pretense masking soulful cowardliness and APOSTASY. Lay down your life for your friends, no man has greater love than this.

my thoughts
I already had an opinion on the questions I asked you and here is why. About 35 years ago I read some the propaganda of the muslim religion which led me to do some study. I concluded then that it was a false and evil religion. At the time I could see that it would be just a matter of time before it would present a problem. I also concluded then that I wouldn't trust anyone who was a part of that religion no further that I could throw them. It is a religion that takes pride in using deception.
The thing one needs to realize is that the history of the people that make up that religion has always been one of a constant state of conflict with someone and it will always be that way. When God promised that He would make a great nation of Ishmael Gen. 16:11-12. He also said that was the type of nation they would be and it has always been that way and always will be.
That is why I think the key is educating people and more importantly those who are the leaders in civil goverment about the true nature of their relgion. There can be no compromise of the truth, the sword of the Spirit is quick and powerful and the only weapon that Christians can use. I do not believe that Christians are called to fight with carnal weapons. The kingdom of God is spiritual and it's weapons are spiritual. As Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world, if it were then my servants would fight."
I believe God has give the authority to fight carnal wars to goverments, what ever form they may take. Therefore, it falls to the Church to speak the truth to civil powers and I have seen very, very little of that.
As I see it the countries that have leaders who have Christian based values and beliefs are on a collison course with Islam and I believe Islam will suffer a tremendous blow, but not completely destroyed.
