Do you really believe this drivel?
Sigh.
You admit all this. (And, there's more ... much more.)
Yet, you support it.
Is it that you don't understand what insurance IS?
With these provisions, no insurance company has ANY method to limit its costs.
It can't deny anyone coverage even if that person's medical problems will cost that company MILLIONS.
It can't decide to not renew someone who goes to the doctor every day for even the most minor ailment.
It can't even limit itself on the TOTALITY of the payout per individual.
Currently, the insurance companies can spread KNOWN risks around to its KNOWN customer base with PREDICTABLE pay-outs, and, when someone "breaks the bank" the insurance company can protect itself through a maximum payout provision.
Using that information, the insurance company can SET ITS RATES where it might make a profit if all goes as predicted.
Under this system you're so in love with, what in this green earth do you think that the insurance companies will have to charge for PREMIUMS?
They have to cover EVERYONE. They have to pay out for ANY AND EVERY illness. They have no way to limit their liability whatsoever.
There will BE no medical insurance policies issued. No sane business person would invest his money in a company which has unlimited liability and absolutely no way to protect itself against those liabilities.
If this passes, it will be a matter of a decade or less before there is nothing BUT the "government option."
What's going to happen when EVERYONE is on the equivalent of "Medicare?" What are they going to be thinking every time they go into the ballot box?
If this passes, the health care of our citizens will become POLITICAL QUESTIONS and, like France, the U.K., and Spain, we'll be taking to the streets to fight over this issue EVERY ELECTION.
