I don't remember the Republican's being endorsed by ACORN or the the Dems rallying around the republicans when they were warning about Fannie and Freddie. And is Granholm a Republican? Is Nutter a Republican? Other than the Law Enforcement Unions, what others endorsed a republican candidate.
Look at Citicorp....responsibly trying to work things out with homeowners that bought beyond their means. And who supports these liberal community organizations? Dare I say??? Democrats.
I don't see McConnell or Beohner being asked to direct the slicing up of the pie. And Obama likes pie.
Republicans were drunk and I condemn that too!!! I didn't agree with a bailout and I don't see it going to cities that were fiscally irresponsible.

It seems the wanting starts early in the developmental needs. According to Maslow, the physiological needs are the first level in the hierarchy. No where do I see healthcare , entitlements, and college education between the physiological needs and self actualization.
I then look at the Constitution, and do not see where a college education is a right. I checked out change.gov beforwe it went under reconstruction. I also did not know that Headstart was available in places like the suburbs. That was definitely knews to me and the people over 55 are asked to volunteer at such programs. Would that mean that you must be literate, and not working during the day, and able to afford the gas for the car you would need to own in order to drive to the Headstart program that is not in your neighborhood? What happened to the website? Are they rewriting the message? Or are we doing all of these things in fiscally irresponsible places like Philly or Detroit that want the bailout?

Mildred - Mervyn's
Mervyn's has been hanging by a thread here in CA for a few months. Every store that I have seen in South Orange County has been selling everything and "Stores closing" signs are all over the place. I went in there a few weeks ago and got a pair of levi's for $10.00. They had some great bargains. Yes, they will be leaving us soon.
We still have Albertson's all over the place. Not sure if they have pulled out any place.
Now a few weeks ago, I was reading about how Long's Drugs may be in trouble. So, we shall see. It seems every day it is someone new. Either they are standing in line for the money or not.
I was surprised with Circuit City. I actually thought that they had filed for bankruptcy a few months back. I know they have been in trouble for awhile now.

Just last month. OOPPPS!! Non-union, no bailout. Bealls in Florida is also in trouble, nonunion. Let's review this, Sears and Kmart (nonunion) were both in trouble 2 years ago. Instead of going inton bankruptcy, they merged for increased purchase power. They reinvented themselves and are staying afloat. AND I PURCHASE EVERYTHING I CAN AT SEARS BECAUSE THEY SUPPORT THE TROOPS. THEY KEEP THEIR JOBS OPEN WHEN ON DUTY, PAY THE FAMILIES AND CONTINUE THEIR HEALTH COVERAGE.
Look at Walmart, earnings up 10% yesterday because they offer the products Americans want at a price they can afford. They give healthcare too, and have clinics for their employees. MY BAD...nonunion. They were also off the table during the election for the first time in a decade.

We lost Linens N Things too. I liked that store. I know they are still having their blow out on the website. But, the store that was close to me is gone.
I remember with Wal-Mart. There were a few articles in the Wall Street Journal regarding Wal-Mart and supporting the Democrats as they have for all those year. Union was the word of the day.
Did you notice that big, bad evil Wal-Mart is making money in these troubling times. How dare they lower prices. Okay, the little happy face gets a little annoying. I never was a big Wal-mart shopper because the one by me was sort of gross. But, they opened a new one on the other side, so I got there now.
Sears does support the troops and that is a good thing. I try to shop there as much as possible for things. We used to have a Super K by me, but that closed when they merged. I loved that store. That was the best.

for supporting unionization. However, the employees did not want it. As a matter of fact, Hillary took heat in the primary for being on their board. The Dems railed on Walmart and tried to force unionization. Makes one wonder why they dropped that argument this time. Perhaps Franks and Waters knew something the public did not. We know that they knew about the big 3 and Philly prior to the election.
Walmart offers affordable healthcare and assists with catastrophic illnesses on a patient by patient basis. Yes, their wages are lower, but they have clinics in populated areas for employees. Most Walmart employees are happy there because they offer flexible scheduling and close for major holidays with pay. We own a property in Ticonderoga,NY. After the mill closed, it became a ghost town except for summer vacationers. all the stores were closing. ASuper Walmart opened there 10 years ago and gave new life to the town.

I remember all of the union uproar. Yes, I do remember Hillary taking heat for being on the board. Oh wait, isn't that guilt by association? Hmm....
Either we are blaming President Bush, Big Oil, or big bad evil Wal-Mart. They employ so many people. Yes, the wages may not be high, but people seem happy that work there. They seem a lot happier than the people at Target.
I remember years and years ago seeing on the news many towns that were revived thanks to Wal-Mart. People seem to forget that. It is easier to blame them for so many things.

I saw that Nutter guy on TV making his plea the other day. Also, now Motown wants some and the Governator in California and with the fires, now, they will need help! So many now want money, it is hard to keep up and know how to say NO! Barry HO gave his little internet/radio address today and said he will save everyone and American will rise again. Consoling words coming from him!
Americans have been spoiled for many years. As a babyboomer, no true sacrifice has ever been required of us, except in the blood of our soldiers. God bless and keep them! We all expect the lights to go on and potable water to flow, etc. When gas reached $4 a gallon, and many had to choose about buying a $5 Starbucks or a gallon of gas, they got angry. Think about it, $4 for a gallon of gas, $5 for a coffee and $2 for a plastic bottle of water! Our priorities are a little out of whack. Accountability and responsibility should be demanded from our civic leaders and from ourselves. Too many just slide and glide. Our country also needs to take a step back and sacrifice with the ultimate goals of self sufficiency and honor.

That is what he said and he cannot be concerned with deficits. Wasn't he a tad bit critical of Bush's defecit during the campaign? I do believe that he might have a touch of Alzheimers. The exact medical translation for this medical malady is "pre-senile dementia" and the age of onset is usually in the mid forties. One of the characteristic symptoms is poor short term memory and a tendency to live in the past.
Yes, I saw the article and hit the posts with it. This is going to create a severe anxiety reaction for Obama and may lead to dissociative personalities...seems it's early onset because he can't remember what side of his face he spoke out of. He stated that he was originally resigning from the senate on 11/23, but once Pelosi called Congress back, he pushed up his resignation by a week.
I beleive this action by Bush is payback for the "leaks" from Obama's team after the traditional meeting. What is that called?? Oh yes, diarrhea of the mouth..and Bush just put a cork in it!

If that should fail, and I hope that it does, then this will fall into Obama's lap. This is not a bailout of the auto industry or the unions. It is a push to clear the road for Obama to continue his avoidance of decision making or alienating potential constituents. Since Bush/Patraeus negotiated Iraqi stability and drawdown, there is one less major issue to let die with indecision or reversal.

Obama has set his expectations over the top, nd now has to bring back ol Washington to fill the gaps in his experience. The people who got him into office are Clinton retreads that can't govern, but do run campaigns. So, now that they are in the WH, someone has to take the reins who knows what they are doing. Coming up with a less agregious health plan than Hillarycare will take time since you have three huge egos fighting over the recipe. Not much will get done and the GOP needs to get ready for 2010.

So true about going backwards. Why does it seem that the Obama camp is just turning back the clock.
I did see today:
"A Penny for her thoughts: Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker has turned down the chance to be secretary of Commerce because of vetting issues, a Democratic official said."
I know she has some baggage, so I guess she does not want to share her secrets.
As for Daschle, I remember his book on healthcare. I did not read it, but he was pushing it on one show. How Dean was up for HHS also. Am I recalling this correctly, was he a doctor?
