Comment on: THE LEAST MEN STANDING

HAS OBAMA and THE DEMOCRATS PLAYED THE SOCIALIST CARD TOO EARLY?

Have

Have Obama and the Democrats. That "and" makes the subject plural.

Also, explain to me how the U.S. government borrowing money so it can send every American a $300 check, as Bush has done twice now, does not constitute a "redistribution of wealth."

Bush rebates

The rebates sent out during the Bush administration did not go to people who did not pay income tax. Obama's plan will permit everyone to receive a check, even if they haven't paid income tax.

To Homer

We agree about the Bush rebates assuming you also do. They were redistributive welfare, just as the bailout was. I sense you don't agree this is bad, though. You just don't want leftists/ socialists, i'e. democrats, to be hung out there to dry when a moderate Republican committed a similar sin as a stimulus.
A socialist act does not a Marxist make. I can't know Bush's heart, but doubt he is one. Redistribution as national policy, as law, (we heard the Chicago PBS tape) and a re-defining of the purpose of our government, and the Constitution, does.

Good point, Rick. There is a difference between the Bush stimulus and the ones Obama suggests.
