Comment on: When Governments Lie

The Boston Tea Party that wasn't

Not so fast!

I think you're wrong about the Tea Parties being pointless. The week following July 4th, I sensed a new energy in Congress, as if the Conservatives and Blue Dogs in Congress felt we were behind them. Perhaps only temporary, but I think they know it when they see the people make a visible showing of support.

But I also take your point that "all talk and no action" won't get us anywhere. People really need to step up. And I look forward to reading more of your columns.

PS

Also - I attended both Tea Parties and I saw no drinking, and socializing to the extent of discussing politicsl and educating ourselves.

Refreshing to hear

Thank you Ann for the feedback.

I constantly repeat myself on these blogs, stating that I WANT to be wrong. I WANT to be called out and have it pointed out that I am WRONG. And, I will graciously apologize if or when, I am, because I would be far more happy to be wrong about these topics. In fact, I often times wait excitedly to hear feedback from folks like yourself who can intelligently point out when I am wrong. Because, being wrong about something that's bad - is good - if that makes any sense!!

I want to believe that Congress will be reved up to hear the people. I want to believe that these tea parties are growing in size, and that eventually, they will no longer be able to be ignored. But, until I see it; until someone in Congress makes a stand - more than words - I just won't believe it. And, as of yet, I do NOT see that Congress is representing the people and our voices are not being heard. Btw - I had several personal friends whose opinions I value greatly attend our local one in Bend, Oregon, and I saw just the opposite. Sadly, it very well could be that there are "some" tea parties taking this seriously, and "some" that aren't.

A house divided cannot stand... :(
Thanks again, Ann!
