Comment on: What Kind of Champions?

Cleveland the end of the line....for women

Today's Woman.

Spare me with the "it's time for a woman" tired, worn out rubbish that's been used for years, and spare me with Hillary's "victimhood" by the media.

For someone who apparently thinks themselves above the feminism of the 70's and sees a new "consumerism" in the women's movement, you are remarkably similar in your excuses for failure: 1) Victimhood (the media took Hillary down.....No, Hillary went down in flames because even among Democrats, she's seen as corrupt; and, among Moderates, she's a socialist. Hillary got into the arena and competed, and she took herself down with her own behavior and ideas), and 2) A woman should get the presidency because of her sex ("it's time". No, it's time when a qualified woman shows up with good ideas and a good reputation. She can earn the Presidency the same way any man does. What? Is there a shortage of accomplished, reputable women out there?).

I'm a "liberated woman of the 80's" and I quit using phrases like "victim" in 1991. We didn't leave as a legacy to women after us an attitude of entitlement and helplessness.

Take your pick:

either you're a "feminist" and We should vote for hillary on the sole fact that she is a woman, or you've come to your senses and you should vote for hillary based on ideas.

"Little girls are outnumbering boys [I would argue that They are men and women] in college classrooms" is an example of how feminized Our education establishments have become.

"They [women] copulate, purchase, own, drink, and work out as robustly as men." And this is a credit to your gender?! You think these are qualifications for anything?

And another example of your inconsistencies: Latin America. When you are a leader, you do not emulate losers; they should emulate you. Maybe Latin America needs more White Male Leaders so that they can compete with Us on the international level.

These are just some refutes.

Thanks, chick, for letting Me comment.

A.

We can have this discussion here, if you don't mind. So it stays on the appropriate topic.

Liberated woman of the 80's means that there are many of us, older gals, who navigated that complex road of making our own way when all we had in front of us was the mess created by the 1970's feminazi's. Basically, we had to navigate a fortress of hatred and distaste for educated women--totally based in what you refer to as "academic feminism." We had to Man Up, and show that we truly eschew the victimhood label. We had to perform, as well as the men. And in my own personal experience in medicine--still a very male-dominated field, I've been treated respectfully and honorably by these men who've come a long way in their thinking.

Then, I see a post from a young woman of today using the same excuses that actually HELD US BACK and against which I fought in college and med school. It doesn't do us any good, as women, to ever relinguish our part in our destiny (as you did with Hillary, saying that the media fostered her demise, and not placing her ideals to blame). When I compete, I want to honestly compete. Let me win because I don't use excuses and blame others. Let me win cause I'm the best.

Personally, were I to consider an accomplished woman of the 80's, I'd think Margaret Thatcher. You think Madonna. This really epitomizes a gap between the current established, career woman and the younger generation, unless you're being simply derogatory.
