I had to laugh at your title, "Funny, You Don't Look Conservative".

I recently happened to walk into a conversation between two liberals at work (both were from California) and when I realized the gist of their discussion I was not able to escape before one grabbed my arm and said, "You're a liberal, Judy. What do you think?" I said I was actually conservative and asked why she assumed otherwise. One of the girls looked at me incredulously and said, "But ... you're so nice."

Heh.

I'm a young, African-American woman, so I'll have to give them their assumptions as far as I'm concerned. ;) What's really annoying is that after I say I'm not a lib, they're SHOCKED. SHOCKED!!!!!!1111! And don't bother to act polite about it in the slightest. I'll give you the assumption, but jeez, I'm not a 2-headed alien, you know?
