Ritter is Still a "Moderate?"

I had heard that if Ritter

does nothing once the bill hits his desk (i.e. not signing and not vetoing) it becomes law as well. If this is the case, he can "win" by not doing anything. He wins for the labor/union interests be the law coming into being, and he can later say that he didn't sign it (saving face with the Right and the business community).

DO you know if the bill does become law without him signing it?

No, I don't

The answer would be in the state Constitution. I'm behind on blogging because of my four day trip. I'll try to look it up later in the week.

Trust me, the business community won't allow this to be a win if that scenario is possible and occurs.

I just looked it up..

at this site: http://www.rmfc.org/FactSheets/HowABillBecomesLaw.html

In a nutshell, if the bill is on the Governors desk, and he doesn't sign within 10 days, it becomes law without his signature. If the session is adjourned, it becomes a law after 30 days.

Wanna bet it sits on Ritters desk for 10 days? :)
