I totally agree with you. I am not going to just let it happen. We all are held accountable for what we do or don't do. I am guilty of not paying attention and letting the world go by. I am going to write letters as much time as I can give to my representatives and cc them to America. (Pass it on to everyone that is willing to listen)..I am also going to spend more time with my daughter walking the beach and talking about all this.

I do not think we are alone in failing to stand up for what we believe in. Life these days seems so busy and finding time to do what is right can be difficult but it is not impossible. Lets just hope that more of our fellow citizens will wake up and heed the call.
Walking that beach and talking to your daughter has multiple benefits, great idea!

Hey Dean,
I don't think any of us are the same after watching politics for the past 2 years...and the outcome ...I love America and it has been hard to watch many of her citizens falling for the liberal agenda.
I can tell you put a lot of thought into your resolutions, they are a great collection of proactive efforts to protest the socialist movement.
I will be writing more letters and every opportunity that arises, share conseravtive values with others.
May God give us wisdom and strength!

I think we are all guilty of not doing enough to fight the red menace in our country these past years. If the Obamunists election did nothing else it seems to have shaken some of us our of our complacency.
But then, I am preaching to the choir here!

“Knowledge is power”
Those words of Sir Francis Bacon ring through in your resolutions 1, 2, & 4.
To inform yourself
To inform your elected representation in Congress
To inform the undecided and wavering
Resolutions 3, 5 & 6 embody the counsel of Polonius to Laertes. Most are familiar with the short version: “To thine own self be true.” Yet, the entire speech leading to that phrase is well worth review.
Yet here, Laertes! aboard, aboard, for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail,
And you are stay'd for. There; my blessing with thee!
And these few precepts in thy memory
See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell: my blessing season this in thee!

Thank you for enlightening me on Sir Francis Bacon and Sir William Shakespeare's works. I am poorer for not having read their material in the past. I might have to add that task to the list.
I have always struggled with Shakespeare in the past, Olde English is difficult to interpret for a hayshaker and knot thumper fresh in from the fields. Too many thee's and thou's maybe, I dunno. ;-) There sure is a whole lot of wisdom packed into those words if you can pick them apart and understand them though.

Great ideas and may we all have the spirit to do the same.
When I see a list of conservative bloggers I think there must be enough spirit in the country to do some good. I suspect most of them will be fired up by the coming situation and will want to participate in any uprising.

Thank you for stopping in and for the kind words.
You are right, fundamental principles seem to be lacking in our society these days. I am not sure how it happened but I am afraid the fault lies at the feet of the parents who failed to pass those values on to their children and instead left it up to our socialist school systems to do so. I thank my parents for gifting me with the values I hold dear.
I hope the new year treats you and yours well also.

Good reminders and...
One other for me: my wife and I need to keep closer to the Biblical God and Savior through regular reading, meditation, prayer. We believe that will enable us to hear more closely how to fulfill those wishes, Dean, you had . I have been doing what you wished for years because I teach political science, am involved in poliitics, and used to be a pastor with political connections. Still, closer my God to thee is now or should be my first priority. Getting old does that to you! And I will never stop fighting what I think is evil. Frankly, liberal socialist pacifism and Islamofascism plus all the hurts that the world hurls at humanity (sin and misfortune if you will) must be worked against or as Burke reminded us: If good men do nothing, nothing good will be done:paraphrased.

Glen, thank you for reminding me of Mr. Burke's famous quote. I believe you were referencing his statement "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil in America is for good men to do nothing." So true and so incredibly timely today.
I will admit I have been somewhat remiss in seeking guidance from God. That is something I need to work on, thank you for reminding me. =) As you say, that is something the left will never understand.
Best wishes and thank you for your comments and guidance.

Nice list of thoughtful resolutions. I echo your desire to stay educated and informed on all issues. I have begun reading The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith to help stregthen my knowledge of economics. I also agree that it is important to encourage the intellectually lazy to seek out alternative news sources in order to be better informed.

I'll have to look for that book also. The only things I know about economics I've learned from everyday life and the little I was taught about supply and demand.
We as citizens have allowed the politicians to pretty much do as they pleased. That must stop and we are the only ones that can stop it.
Best wishes for a Happy New Year!

>The constitution...excellent suggestion.Not many folks know what's in it.I keep copies here and at work for reference purposes.
> Legislative communication...very important.If you accept what they *serve* you year after year you get,well,professional politicians that could give a rats south end what you think.These scum bags count on voter ignorance not only for votes but to slide their agendas through(pork projects come to mind).
> Spread the word...you're doing that with this blog and commenting on other blogs and browsing all the political news sites.
Bottom line,the worst enemy of a corrupt,scumbag politician is an informed voter...communication is priceless.

Especially since I believe that your resolutions were made in an honest introspective query of what would make you a better person. In truth, your resolutions would make any person a better person. Thanks for stopping by Pesky Truth, otherwise I don’t know when I might have stumbled upon Baby with the Bathwater. I’ve read several of your posts and found a kindred spirit – including a great respect for Robert Heinlein’s work. I have to admit to using the TANSTAAFL statement countless times myself, but didn’t know that he was the originator. It is a simple enough concept, yet one that the left has never accepted. Probably because most of their programs would never pass through a TANSTAAFL filter. So, thanks again for visiting my blog – I promise that I’ll be back again to visit yours.

I'm new at this blogging stuff and write on the spur of the moment. Lately the Great Goracle has kept me busy with the 5 feet of global warming in my front yard and driveway. 5 feet and it just keeps coming. I have a backhoe coming out to move the berms back on my driveway, its a tunnel and I can no longer plow it until the berms are moved.
I'll be stopping by your place now and then, I enjoyed your latest post but have not had time to read your older posts. I will try to do that soon.
