Comment on: Concerned Conservative

Good Advice

I could have written that piece!

I too am a first time gun owner. In fact, this Thursday I pick up my 357 magnum revolver.

I made a promise to myself that if the people of this nation were foolish enough to elect a Marxist con artist like Obama, then it was high time to invest in a firearm.

The second amendment is the single most important freedom We The People have. Throughout world history, tyranny rules as long as its citizenry remains unarmed.

My advice to all concerned conservatives is: BUY A GUN NOW!

Recovered Lib

Congratulations!

Let me know how it goes with the 357 magnun, that is one powerful gun.

Conservatives should not take for granted our 2nd Ammendment rights.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and advice.

Jennifer

Good post. Thanks for digging that one up.

Recovered Lib - Dont forget AMMO. There is currently legislation in 18 states to restrict the sale and to register all purchases of ammo. Your new handgun is not much use without ammo so stock up. Once they get this ammo registration law into effect they will know right where to go to find said ammo for confiscation.

Your choice of .357 is a good one. I would recommend using .38 special ammo for target practicing though, less recoil and less abuse on the revolver than .357 magnum ammo if you shoot alot in one session.

Best wishes and Happy New Years to you both.

Dean D.

Thanks Dean, I appreciate your responses and support.

Yes, stocking up on AMMO is crucial because of those who are in office and the special coding Dems want to implement.

Recovered Lib---I forgot to say , "Welcome to the Conservative Side!" You have broken free from the chains of Liberalism.

Happy New Years to you also!

Thanks for the welcome and good info!

Happy New Year to you both as well!

Guess it's time to "lock and load" against the bleeding heart liberals who live in John Lennon's "Imaginarium."

Fight on!

Give Me a G! Give me a U! Give me a N!

A couple of years ago I got a shotgun because my husband said I'd more likely hit something!

Haven't tried it out yet...but...he's right.

Good idea Jennifer, tell everyone to stock up1

Braintree

Joyanna,
You would shoot just fine, I have no doubt!
With the amount passion and focus you possess, you'd be a 'Straight Shooter'

Let me know when you do try the G U N out...
BTW, does your rifle bear any resembalance to your,'Go Ahead Get the Big Gun?' hahaha

3 Cheers to Joyanna!

Its nice when members of the left come over to our side. I also want to wish you a warm welcome and embrace the opportunity to share something that may help clear up some confusion about the Second Amendment.
The left has spent decades trying to convince the masses that the right to bear arms is contingent on membership in a "well regulated Militia". They have it completely reverse of the founders' intent.
The Second Amendment claimed for the people the power to form a grassroots militia and stand up against a tyrannical government through armed conflict, if necessary.
The founders understood that the ability of the people to form a militia is contingent on our right to own guns. They knew that and now you do too.
I have written a piece on this back in July. The title is: "The Right of the People", if you're interested.
Welcome to the skirmish.

Story

Hi Jennifer,
By story, I presume you're referring to the bone marrow topic we talked about earlier. I'm honored you are interested and I'm sorry for the delay.
The story takes place over a period of about fourteen years, so it will take some time to get it together. Don't worry though. You will be among the first to know.
Thanks for the prayers and God bless you.
John

Thanks Poppy

It's good to leave the darkness of the left and enter the "light."

The Second Amendment is THE single most important liberty we have - it enables We The People to stand up to and defeat tyranny when necessary (which could become a reality with "that one" in the WH).

Now I'm going to read your article...

Poppy

Yep, that's the story.
Through your writings and faith, I sense you've gleaned much through this trial.
God Bless.

ISM

Wow Jennifer! I just went back and watched the video on Don't drink the ISM. Pretty cool. How on earth did you ever find it?

Poppy - just read your excellent article

So true, so very true.

*sigh*

Sadly, as we can see by the election results, 67 million Americans were duped into voting for this marxist con artist.

We have an epic battle to wage for the soul of this nation.

God knows where it will ultimately lead...

Jennifer

Good one. Jennifer you sure have a talent for finding timely info. Thanx so much for sharing.

I guess my only advise would be that if anyone has a handgun, they should also have a rifle. Don't know who said it, but the adage goes -- the purpose of a handgun is to get to a rifle.

In the times we live in, it's also helpful (in my opinion only) to read someone like Masaad Ayoob.

Thanx again, Jennifer, for most timely information!

AL

Thanks for stopping by.

What you say regarding owning a rifle is more,
'Good Advice'.

Also getting the proper NRA approved training to use your firearm.

We started to read a few articles by Ayoob the other night, but got off on a 'rabbit trail' through other links :o)

Until next time

Al, leave it to you to point something

great... Massad Ayob is one of my favorite writers.

All of you are right in the importance of the Second Amendment, and NRA training, and fighting for our Nation.

I want to add one special element to your training, "weapon retention".

No, I don't want you to become a black belt, it does help though, but learning a few weapon retention techniques will make you more comfortable, and safe if you ever have to use your weapon.

Joe

Thanks for your input.

Is weapon retention generally a part of the CCW class ? We are taking the class on Saturday.

If not what would be a good way to get this type of training ? I'd appreciate any advice that would help me be safe and wise.
Thanks Jennifer

To Recovered Lib

Thank you for the compliment. I couldn't help noticing that there's no way to respond to you except on Jennifer's page. You are very bright. Are you putting together a blog of your own? I'd visit.
John

Oh, Jennifer,
Yes, I have learned a lot through my trial. God is good.
John

Recovered Lib

How did it go today ?
I remembered that Thursday was the 'Big Day!'

And like Poppy said, If you start a blog let us know. You would have a unique point of view having 'recovered' :o)

Jennifer

From Someone Like Myself,....

who has owned guns since I was 8 years old, hunted most of his life, and now owns a small arsenal (7 rifles, 4 shotguns, 7 pistols, 4 blackpowder rifles, 3 blackpowder pistols), all I can tell you is that shooting and hunting are relaxing. Plus training with your weapon is something the Founding Fathers understood.

Read Thomas Jefferson's quotes on owning a gun and walking with this gun; and you will see what I mean.

Gray Ghost

A small arsenal indeed!

I appreciate the wisdom of our Founding Father's and will read what Thomas Jefferson has said on guns.

Training is essential, I believe you can never have enough safety when handing firearms.

We are going to the CCW class tomorrow, wish us success!

Love it

These posts and the essay warm the cockles of my heart.

Some recommendations from an old gun guy.

Get some basic reloading gear -- even if you never use it -- and save your expended brass after every shooting session. If ammo restrictions are put in place, you'll still be able to "roll your own".

In light of Heller, it's hard to envision ammo being made unavailable, but it's always best to "be prepared", as the Boy Scout Motto goes.

Practice, practice, practice. Not only is it fun, but it's essential to improving your skills. If you're just starting out, go with an experienced shooting buddy if possible. He can help you avoid developing bad habits, and improve your skills (avoiding flinching, grip and trigger finger placement, sight picture, range safety and procedures, etc.) When I was competing, I used to shoot over 15,000 rounds/year. Even now in my dotage, I still shoot well over 5,000/year.

As was mentioned, try to have some familiarity (at least) with all three basic gun types: handguns, rifles, shotguns. They're all fun in their own way, and they all serve different purposes.

BrianR

Thanks for your recommendations.

I will begin to collect our empty shells after we shoot and look into reloading gear.
I am not as concerned about ammo being banned as I am for the prospect of taxing and regulations... Gov't can tax and regulate to such a point to where it's almost impoosible to afford or obtain ammo/supplies.
We are beginning to see how powerful our Gov't is and how "We the Peoples' voice is not being heard.

Practice, Practice, Practice.

Thanks for stopping by .

Well, Jennifer

As Justice Marshall wrote, "the power to tax is the power to destroy".

I, too, find it highly unlikely at this point in time that ammo will be taxed into unaffordability. But some of the libs keep floating the idea. Out here in Leftifornia, it comes up with some regularity, though typically goes nowhere fast.

As I wrote, I believe in being prepared for any eventuality I can forsee. I have tons of empty brass, a full progressive reloading rig, plenty of powder, primers, and bullets.

looks like

Looks like people are heeding the advice to,
Buy, Buy, Buy.

Called around the local Wal-Marts around here (NC) and hubby working in GA checked their stores, they are out and so are the wherehouses according to the clerks. Maybe around mid-February or so until they receive more ammo.

Most online suppliers are out or running very low on ammo.

We have a local gun shop we'll be heading over to tomorrow. Probably have to get a case.

Just wanted to let ya'll know.
