Unintended Liberal Consequences

I think that on fist impulse, everyone wants to be an environmentalist and "Keep America Beautiful". But modern day so called environmentalists who dominate the Sierra Clubs, etal of the world, behave as modern day Luddites. They oppose every attempt to increase our energy supply. They are against coal fired power plants,They oppose nuclear power, even wind power (the windmills kill birds). Naturally, they oppose hydro power, though energy begets production which generates wealth in the form of jobs and products that enrich everyone's lives and advance civilization. Considering the implications, it is simply impossible to understand the motives of these people.

Sadly the U.S. is plagued by these people as is Europe to a somewhat lesser extent.

Dud, your comment is right on the money. Liberals have blocked every attempt to be become energy independent. They want us to be dependent because they want to hurt our economy punishing those evil capitalists. I can hear Chavez, Castro, Lenin and Marx all cheering in the background.
