Jewish Republicans of Colorado
A Perspective on the Jewish Vote

If only it were a Jewish vote
Jewish Republicans of Colorado, this Catholic Republican of Connecticut (yes, such creatures exist) sympathizes. As I read your article I was thinking, it's just like so-called Catholics supporting abortion promoters, and then you made the same connection. Only it seems that in the Jewish case, there is actually more of an established voting block.
I asked my husband one day why he thought Jews voted so obviously against their self-interest, and he replied, "You are religious, so being Jewish doesn't mean the same thing to you that it means to most of them." Meaning, as a person of faith, I naturally assume Jewish means more than what golf club you belong to. I also tend to assume the people in the pews next to me at Mass know what I know about Catholicism and believe what I believe about it. Statistics prove I am wrong on both counts.
I often think that in many respects, those of us who actually practice different faiths have more in common with each other than we do with the secular people who call themselves by the same name, but don't know what they mean by it.
I would be interested to know how your Democrat co-religionists defend their position. Or perhaps they don't feel they need to.

It's a Relgion unto Itself
As my mentor Dennis Prager puts it, "When secular Jews left their religion, Liberalism became their new religion".
So instead of Judiasm, you have Environmentalism, Feminism, etc. These are the altars they worship at.
