Personal Tea Party

At least not Craig T. Neilson

I made the mistake of watching Glenn Beck about a month ago, in order to make myself feel like I was getting a balanced political debate from all my MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS (I love CBS) news. On the show he had Craig T. Neilson star of the old sitcom "Coach". Mr. Neilson said he wasn't going to pay taxes as his version of a tea party, of course illegally and in violation of IRS laws.

It's perfectly fine to do as you prescribe because you are saying that you will try not to pay for elective taxes based on purchases. What is not ok, is not paying the taxes you are legally responible for.

I would suggest you give up you boycott and enjoy the joys of life which including all that you say not to do. There is a time for politics and a time for living life. I am much happier dividing my time between the two.

Christopher

Welcome to Our Posterity! I really appreciate your visit.

Astute of you to notice that I did not include things like income and property taxes.

I appreciate your recco to "give up" consideration of these steps, but that won't happen. My life is filled with joy and peace!

Thanx again for stopping by and commenting and I will be heading over to Young Republican as soon as I can to read your next post.

I say fight with your money

Good post!

Kevin

Indeed, that's what I intend to do. I figure for every tax dollar I don't spend it's 10 more they can't justify printing in D.C. -- haha!

Thanx for stopping by and The Black Sphere has a great post up ... just got back from your place.

Interesting Approach Mrs. AL

If anything you will definately be fiscally responsible and should be able to save money. Unfortunately, I think Obama and his crew will go after the wealth in 401Ks to pay for his huge liberal agenda.

Always good stuff, Mrs. AL

In a manner of speaking, i'm doing what you're proposing too. I started remodeling my house last year and have recently stopped. I'm going to wait a while before re-flooring and repainting the final few rooms. I know that my position is not going to help "spur" the economy but that's NOT MY JOB - that's D'ohbama's job. I'm not going to do anything to help him and the leftists. If we were able to regain seats in the 2010 elections, I'll spend money. If we're able to retake the White House, I'll have a pent-up spending spree just wainting to happen. If not, at least I will have saved money.

BTW, I hope gas gets back to $4.00 or more - that is one sure way to damage D'ohbama's chances for reelection.

And...

I walked into the Social Security office and used and then kept THEIR pen.

Patrick

The ‘killing two birds with one stone’ definitely comes to mind. To be blunt, I had not thought of it that way at all. While I still have some level of liberty and freedom, I want to “fight with” my money – to quote Kevin.

Given the blackmail schemes coming out of D.C. right and left, I need to do something more than communicate with these … people.

Thanx for stopping by and commenting and I will be coming by The Theory of Mediocrity again soon!

Garnet

It sounds like you already came to the point I have reached. I am impressed with your willingness to put off continuing your remodeling projects. Fewer taxes going into the coffers for the government to use!

In keeping with the Pesky Truth you share at your place, here’s a little truism I recall – “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying small stones”. Seems to fit. I’ll be heading your direction soon.

Gar

Good one! One less pen to buy and pay taxes on. Thanx for your visit and real life example.

I will be visiting soon to read about further ways Truth, Justice & Freedom (are) Under Fire.

MrsAl

EVERYONE should live prudently EVERYDAY, recession or not! Stopping and thinking about EVERY decision leads to better and faster decision making skills in the long run.

Mrs. Al

Yeah. It seems like every dollar is important right now. With the recession carrying on, unemployment climbing, and our government seems more focused on it's own agendas, every dollar counts. If only we could plant a dollar and grow a dollar tree.

Hi, Mrs. AL!

Just today, I saw something on the news that some people are shoplifting for basics such as soap, deodorant and meat to support their families. That would appear that many are struggling. However, last weekend, I heard on the news that Apple sold over 1-million new iphones. It comes down to priorities.

Why spend money for no good reason? Such a simple concept! In these times, we can find a little satisfaction and contentment when we don`t play into the government`s reach. Great post, Mrs. AL!

Georgetwin

Agreed. This is about withholding taxes from the government. It’s time I do something more than I have been in the past.

Thanx for stopping by with your words of wisdom. I would expect that from a Common Sense Conservative and I will be by to see if you have a new post up in the near future.

Eric

You said, “If only we could plant a dollar and grow a dollar tree.” – I got a chuckle out of that one. Problem is, if you grew a dollar tree the government would tax 90% of it and you would be left with only a dollar again!

Thanx for coming by, know you are busy these days. I will be stopping by soon to see what is going on with The Obama Cartoon.

Dawn

Isn’t is ironic that this bloated, sidewinding, deceitful government gets everybody they can dependent on government and shoplifting is on the rise! As for the iphone sales, just wait there will be a bail out for those who cannot live without this type of “extra” that they really can’t afford. After all, it’s their RIGHT to own one, isn’t it?

You said, “In these times, we can find a little satisfaction and contentment when we don`t play into the government`s reach.” BINGO and thanx for phrasing it so well.

Wonder what you will have happening at Cheeky Monkey when I drop by next. Looking forward to it.

Mrs AL....

Quite frankly I am "investing" in canned goods and shotguns. I am a Boy Scout.

I do my own taxes and end up reading 3 or 4 tax books and manuals a year. Everything I can "run" through my business, I do so. I will work on my taxes for 3 hours to save a few dollars.

But as Christopher said, I do spend time enjoying my life. And that is important.

Gray Ghost

And I’m a Girl Scout – haha! You know, I was struck by your diligence and attention to detail when doing your taxes. A tax penny saved is one less for the government to misuse – that’s where I net out.

Indeed, you and Christopher are right. Enjoying life is important! It’s all about balance.

Thanx for coming by and I am looking forward to see what Gray Ghost Country has for us.

Mrs AL (Always Learning)

Thank you for your comment on my blog about my remarks on Governor Sanford.

Here is a comment I just wrote, that I intend to post today.
----------------
Living a Perfect Sin Free Life

Only One person in the history of mankind has achieved that.

However, it is possible to live a 'Repentant Life' before God.

God is just and willing to accept repentance and say 'Go and Sin No More'.

This forgiveness by God is for our 'Eternal Life' and unfortunately for us, sometimes does Not affect our Earthly life as much as we would like.

The fact that God is willing to forgive us, does Not give us a license to continue in sin, nor does it necessarily cause those our sins have hurt to grant forgiveness.

God said Not only would He forgive our Sins - He would never remember them against us anymore.

This is a 'Good Deal' and something we humans are incapable of, even when the one we have hurt the most is ourselves.

Actually, Jesus commanded us to love our brothers as much as we love ourselves.

If we cannot forgive ourselves, it seems to me that commandment would be impossible.

Many humans have recited or prayed this prayer:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever. Amen

Notice that Prayer states, we are asking God to forgive us in the same manner and with the same mercy that we show those who have sinned against us.

That prayer becomes scary and peace giving at the same time.

MrsAl

When you go to the zoo, how many of the animals you see could TEAR YOU IN HALF with no more effort tha tearing a piece of paper in half? WHY are they in cages and we ARE NOT? Because we can THINK on a higher level!

Boycott!!!!

OK, there are certain things that hit the government where it hurts. Here are my suggestions. Alcohol and tobacco: Make your own booze, grow your own tobacco (I don't smoke but I may grow it just to spite Uncle Barrack). They don't tax you on that. Drill your own oil well in your back yard (don't try to hit me with trivialities like "there's no oil in my area" I'm on a roll). Let’s hit em where it hurts.

PS, nice to see Christopher here, you will be a great mentor Mrs. AT

Retired Geek

Thanx for coming by and giving me a preview of the post.

You wrote: “Notice that Prayer states, we are asking God to forgive us in the same manner and with the same mercy that we show those who have sinned against us. That prayer becomes scary and peace giving at the same time”

Very powerful statement!

Thanx again for your visit and know I will be looking for a new post from you at Facts and Retired Geek Opinions.

Georgetwin

Thanx for the object lesson, Georgetwin. Given the ‘state of the union’ in which we find ourselves, please allow me some latitude in my response …

I’ve been to D.C. and the zoo animals are on the outside and they are ravenous. They have already torn at the flesh of my liberty and will, one day, seek to tear me to pieces because I refuse to give up on the notions expressed in the Declaration of Independence.

Thanx again for coming by. You do always bring things home in a pithy fashion.

Jim

Me? A mentor ? Would not ever be able to think of myself in that role, but I do thank you kindly. Christopher is a thoughtful person and I will be following his blog.

Now to the core of your comments … absolutely hysterical! Have to tell you that I could actually hear the voice of a friend of mine saying what you wrote. Fascinating. BTW, I suspect there is oil buried somewhere in these hills. May have to give serious consideration to exploration!!

Thanx for popping in and commenting. Clearly you do have Perspective from Perseverance and I will be checking in to see what new Perspective you are sharing.

Hey

I mentiion the TEA parties in my latest! as always Mrs AL your razor sharp and RIGHT ON!!

Pen Captain

Now this is weird, I just posted to your blog a very short time ago. Great post, btw!

Thanx for coming by ... Pen Captain and/the HOPE for Tomorrow is a good read as always.

TEA

party for every town every state---never let up!!I still am amazed that they are STILL on this helthcare deception--it is worse than hillarycare.

Crossbow

Thanx for coming by and having a look-see. You sure have that right, "worse than hillarycare"!! In fact, I had a discussion yesterday with my PCP about going off my med (non-critical), etc going forward. He also could NOT assure me that I would be notified of any changes especially in the area of MY medical records. May have to consider "dropping out". If I die earlier, well that's a risk I have to weigh against the UNPRECEDENTED VIOLATION of my right to be secure in my person, papers and effects.

Well that's more than you asked for, eh? Again thanx for coming by and I am looking forward to seeeing what is going on in Crossbow's Corner of the blogosphere.

Mrs. AL

You asked about sources for info on what led up to the Constitutional Convention.

The best site, in my opinion, is the Library of Congress American Memory Collection at...

http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/continental/timelin e2e.html

On the left side click Browse Collection by: Subject

Then click "B" and scan for anything in the year 1785 or 1786.

LOTS of documents there.

AL

I cut DirecTV about a year ago, last month when they went all digital, just got a converter box for 10 dollars. What has this done? Rid my house of some really raunchy programming. I have quite a selection of DVDs and I can choose what I watch when I want to.

I enjoy the outdoors anyway and it isn't a hardship on me or my pocketbook.

If all of us did a little of each of these things we might make some impact!

Glenn

Thank you so very much for the link and info. You are so kind to come and give me this info. I apologize I have not been by sooner to your place to see if you had replied!

I may not be online much, given the link. Gonna' have to invesigate some things for myself!

By the way, you are on a roll over at Rants and Raves! I’ll be heading that direction to check things out.

Str8Talk

Wow. Sounds like you got to the place I am way ahead of me.

You could not be more right when you said, “If all of us did a little of each of these things we might make some impact!” Amen to that. If each of us just hesitated to spend that money on something non-essential once a week, imagine the tax revenue that would NOT be going into the pockets of the government.

I will be coming by to read more of The Truth as I See it! Your latest is great.

Mrs AL

good stuff!I just hope the TEA parties will rally to votes to get rid of these crasies who are ruining our country. Is there anyone who will stand up for us?

Patriot 76

Hey, thanx for coming by and commenting. I appreciate that. You're right, the crazies are running this thing and it's time to send them packing.

I WAS going to go to D.C. on the 4th but am preparing for a more local Party instead. I have come to the conclusion that I need to focus at the State level and a County Seat seems like a good place to start.

Well ... gotta' run and continue preparations.

Thanx again for stopping by. I do look for your comments in other threads.

Mrs. AL (Always Learning)

Here is the problem... Almost everyone I do "business" with is also a personal friend.

I am attending the tea parties including the one this Saturday at the State House.

My committee is making a lot of noise. I think 2010 is going to be a good year, if the GOP wakes up and runs conservatives everywhere!

Even some of the nit wit liberals are ticked off....

MJSJR

I hear you … doing business with personal friends poses a problem and I respect that viewpoint very much.

Good for you … Tea Partying at the State House. Hope yours went well. I’m shortly posting pics of the tea party I attended. I had originally planned on going to D.C., but decided it would be best to support those closer to home.

CONGRATS on your committee “making a lot of noise.” I will be by your place soon to see what you are saying. Thanx for coming by!

christopher

I watched that interview as well.

Not paying taxes seems to be the new theme of Government. Didn't pay your taxes? Have ethics problems? Join my cabinet!

Their is a growing hypocrisy in this country and in Obama's administration that is about to put a stranglehold on us. They do not practice what they preach nor set a good example. They forget that they are public servants and they are NOT serving.

Mrs. AL

I'm boycotting some things of my own: movies with many different actors in them and certain bands that hate Americans but clearly don't mind profitting from them, Netflicks, Progressive Auto Insurance, just to name a few. (You can Google for reasons why if you don't already know.)

Lately my family and I are now supporting more local small businesses than anything else. They need our business the most.

American Sweetheart

Hey, good to see ya'. Haven't visited your place for a time and have the feeling we're both "swamped" with duties these days. I will be by to see what Dreams of an American Sweeteart are happening these days.

I think it's great you are researching companies, etc to see what they stand for these days. Sometimes it seems like there is no company that "gets it" EXCEPT some of the local business folks.

Thanx for stopping by and I sure trust all is going well with ya'll.
