You are correct, sir. Sanctions do not impact the targets of the sanctions. Sanctions affect the people, rather than the regime, and the people are already suffering under the jackboots of the regime.

Michael Ledeen still holds out hope that the populace of Iran can effect a regime change. Failing that, the CIA could see if it could relive its glory days (Mossedegh replaced with the Shah, ahh). Failing that, force of arms remains the last option to keep the mad mullahs of Qom from obtaining nuclear weapons.
