If only Shapiro

understood the meaning of the word comparable. While Hitler invaded Eastern Europe without provocation in order to provide "living space" for his people, Russia is reacting to a perceived threat that has a legitimate historical basis.

While Hitler took over whole countries without retreat or withdraw in order to ethnically cleanse them and resettle them those of German descent, Russia didn't annex another country.

What Russia did was immoral and criminal. Their leaders should be brought before the ICC for their crimes. But they won't because of the precedent set by Bush--the strong do what they want to.

But just because Russia committed a serious international crime, doesn't mean they are, on a whole comparable to Nazi Germany. The problem with continued comparisons between Nazi Germany and those we deem as enemies is that it makes the Nazis did the norm. What the Nazis did was so far off the scale, that those who so easily compare enemy after enemy with them should be viewed as suspect. And that is what some conservatives have done. First, Saddamn was a Hitler. Then Iran was acting just like the Nazis. And now it is Russia. All of this is done for an agenda rather than to inform.
