Can a Christian Vote for a Mormon Presidential Candidate?

Vote?

I didn't know Christians were Biblically permitted to vote...:-)

there is no power but of God

I know several Mormons personally and if they consider me a heretic they have never said it to my face. Is this their church doctrine you’re citing? They all seem to love their neighbors and keep the commandments, at least as much as most Christians I know. Basically I consider them to be generally much more trustworthy and honorable and wise than any of the Democratic presidential candidates. Liberalism is much more dangerous than Mormonism. Wouldn’t it be better to have a president that is more likely to encourage loving God than wearing condoms?

As far as your Romans reference regarding “their seats of power and authority”, I urge you to read this text thoroughly and carefully, beginning with the beginning of the section at 12:1. We need to be careful not to blindly follow our leaders just because God has put them in power. The point of this section as I read it is to recognize the true power and do his will. When Paul writes in 13:2 “Whosoever resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinace of God” remember what he says in 13:1 “there is no power but of God”. And Paul led by example when he continued to preach the gospel after being imprisoned for it by the Roman rulers and stoned for it by the Jewish rulers.

I think we’re in general agreement. I just felt it useful to expand on this—in case we end up with a president that starts appointing atheist and Mormon judges who proceed to impose their will on us. Remember, Hitler was voted into office.

citizens right to make the laws

what happen to the citizens right to make a law? I dont remember getting to vote for seat belts. Isnt the law forceing you to do something with your body that you may not want to do?think about it.
whats wrong with a 8 liner game room in arlington? Its a place for people to meet, relax and have fun. its not the big bad thing that a lot of people are trying to sell you.just to guess about it , I would say the majority of people opposed to it have never been in one. it burns me that the laws are trying to tell me how to spend my money that I earn. IM not a young rebel, Im a 61 year old grand mother

Dear None,

Our form of government functions through representatives. Most laws are drafted, debated, modified, and then perhaps voted on. If it is passed, it is forwarded to a second group of representatives of the people, and undergoes similar debate etc.

The people do not write the laws, the people's representatives do.

In more rare situations the people do vote for laws directly themselves at an election time.
