Consider this from the Book of Mormon:

2 Nephi 25:29
And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out."

Or from another passage from LDS canon:

D&C 38:1
"THUS saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, the Great I AM, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end ...I am the same which spake, and the world was made, and all things came by me."

I can assure you that Mormons don't view Joseph Smith as being on the same level as Jesus Christ. We view Joseph Smith as a prophet like Isaiah or Moses, and Christ as God.
