Will Penny - Econ 101

I think what happens is this: first, most people do not like and/or understand high school economics; second, if they were interested at all, they most likely drew a liberal/socialist-minded instructor; and third, they think these taxes do not apply to them.
How can they think this? Well, for some, it is true...apparently, a figure I heard today (on Rush, cited from another source I am sorry I can't remember) is that about 30% of our country does not pay income taxes for various reasons. When Obama says 95% of the people will not receive a tax increase, the numbers don't add up, but who cares? It sounds great. They do not stop to think that if the corporations are taxed (those bad, bad corporations!) that jobs will be lost, and we will pay higher prices, etc. It seems like simple logic to me, even though there are more complicated economic forces at work...that's the simple, bottom line.
The term being used lately is the "criminalization of success". The very idea that the US is considering electing a ticket who outright announces that success is to be punished (how dare they succeed! and profit! it's not fair!) is enough to for us to redouble our efforts!
Courage!

Great post!!
I hated Econ as well, but I have that particular lesson seared in my brain. The logic behind it rings true and we see evidence of it everyday in our own lives. I guess the left doesn't realize that not everyone is a tenured college professor or a lawyer or a community organizer, that most(?) work for corporations either directly or indirectly. Dirty, rotten, stinking, evil, polluting corporations, on a scale reminiscent of Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle"...tax them all to hell!!!
My God, what are they thinking??
