National Day of Prayer - May 7

What a thoughtful

and meaninful post, Keith. If only the country would unite and pray for God's forgiveness and mercy in all our areas of failure, as you've outlined here, I believe with all my heart he would hear us and heal our country. And I also believe that we need to start with ourselves. We as individuals are not exempt from the need for prayer and for God's mercy and grace. Turning our face from God is, IMHO, the source of all our problems.

Thanks for your good work for God and Country.

great post. Prayer does work!

Keith

OUTSTANDING!

I saw where President "Bring Us Together" disagrees with you. Just another nail in his 1 term coffin.

National Day of Prayer

Excellent essay, Keith. Bobbie expresses it so well. We cannot turn away from God and expect to thrive as a society. Prayer brings comfort and consolation. Thanks so much posting this.

Keith

Did that. And I agree, it starts with us as individuals. Our first duty is to the Lord. Family, country, etc comes after that. The Lord won't pour new wine into rotten crocks. He will, on occasion, use cracked crocks such as myself, however. And for that I am eternally grateful.

Humbling post and I am grateful to you as well, sir.

Bobbie, Eric, GTwin, Dawnx2 and Mrs. AL:

My intention wasn't to highlight the Prezznit voting "present" on the National Day of Prayer, but the Nehemiah cite does point out that our leaders are called to lead in faith as much as in governance; Georgetwin, I'd agree on that basis that he's failed again. I'd recommend to all that a reading of Kings and Chronicles is in order; see how often the general tenor of the faith of the populace takes its cues from that of the king. It's noteworthy how greatly a people can be guidance by the example of just one man.

That being said, even in times of the worst leaders, there are always those who will not bend their knee to Baal, and if the leaders will not step up during those times, God is not incapable of raising up others to lead the faithful. That's something else we can pray for, right?

You all have it right - prayer does work! "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working" (James 5:16). Especially is days as chaotic as ours, our first step has to be to unite in prayer with each other before the God Who is really there.
