Big "gubmint" is NEVER the answer.
A simplified tax code would work wonders for this country.

Check out the fair tax (HR25).
Without a federal tax implication, businesses from all over the world would flock to the USA to avoid paying taxes (on income).
Consider Exxon. 2nd qtr 08 11.4BILLION $ profit
Federal tax paid- over 10 BILLION $. What kind of exploration into existing and new technologies could Exxon put $10B to use?
How about Detroit with a huge advantage in the auto market, just by the Fair tax? Every other manufacturer would build their factories in the USA (and probably hire non-union people.

Fair tax is the answer. It returns the power to the people.
