Why not Romney?

Romney's not consistent
Yes, the "mormon thing" is an issue with many, but his record shows a non-conservative past. Just like Huckabee, someone can talk conservative, but their actions and record shows otherwise.
Romney is a smart man and indeed qualified, but my choice is Duncan Hunter. He has a consistent conservative record that Romney does not, yet for some reason Hunter has not gained much traction.
Im not saying Hunter is the most or only true conservative (like some love to say about their own candidates), but I believe, as I said earlier, he has one of the best consistent conservative records out there.

I agree!
I see posts for people trying to bolster McCain or Huckabee, and I really don't get it. I'm not even sure what Romney's "flaw" is for these people. The most I hear is that he comes across as insincere. I admit when I first started watching the debates I wasn't that impressed but the more I see the more I like.
He sealed the deal with me when Huckabee was going on about how we had to give illegal aliens scholarship funds, and Romney interjected, "but it's not your money to give away." And it's true! Americans don't want to reward illegal immigration. We can be totally humane toward illegals--I'm not promoting violence or cruelty. The fact is we need to stop the cycle NOW, and there are going to be hurt feelings and whatnot, and I think Romney has figured that out, while McCain and Huckabee bleat on about "God's children" and illegal alien grandmothers of active-duty soldiers. I do believe that kind of argument is an informal logical fallacy called an Appeal to Pity. I don't want that kind of "logic" prevailing in the White House anymore. McCain is the one always going on about the "tough decisions" he has to make, well, ending illegal immigration is going to be unpopular with some and that's a tough decision McCain seems UNWILLING to make.
Bah humbug. Ooops, I'm "going negative"! lol

I love Hunter too! He's my first choice! I am not sure why he never caught fire, except for the usual media/money reasons. If Huckabee or McCain get the nomination I'm debating whether to write in Hunter or Romney.

I don't understand it either. He's the whole package. He's the only one who is strong on all three parts of the movement: National Defense, Economic, and Social. All the others are only strong on one, maybe two of these points.
Thompson could be an exception to that, but if he doesn't care, why should I?
So could Hunter, but well...I'm in it to win!
Can you imagine a debate between Romney and Obama? He's the only one who can pull it off.

Romney is a Robot!
My one problem with him is he's simply not real enough. His politics are right, but his political skill, especially when speaking to the people, is very lacking. He keeps telling us that he's a return to Reagan (God bless his soul) but Reagan was a leader, someone you could listen to. Romney isn't.
