It is widely accepted that Foley had been known to be contacting the page in question and that the leadership knew about it, including Speaker of the House Hastert. I don't think that one can say that they weren't aware of what was happening and that steps could have been taken, i. e., warnings or censures that the members of the ethics committee could have enacted, but didn't.

Your are right.you can go on forever. I agree with 95% of what you say. Although I will vote for Republicans and do agree with the need to vote that way I do believe that having a president who Is a professing Christian will keep us alive.
I do not agree with your view that there are ANY good reasons that a pastor should not warn. He needs to warn and leave the worrying to God. God is faithful. I am not a pastor but I do believe that pastors need to always warn their flock and trust God.

However, adventist do teach american history. i learned all my american history from an adventist school, because I go to adventist schools and i have all my life. So we teach american history. in fact in my high school which was also adventist. I was in the advance american history class we learn more then the othr history classes. But I agree with the other things you said. And i pray that the GOP goes back to it's roots. And that those in washington relize it's not a sin to cut programs that don't work.

Voting as a Christian...
During the Presidential Elections, my church did not specifically finger someone to vote for (I'm stationed overseas now so I wasn't at my church for this past election). However, what it DID do, was to provide a list of important issues that as a Catholic, I should be concerned about when casting my vote. Then it said, though no political candidate is ever perfect, the best thing to do is to find out where each candidate stands on the major issues listed there, and then vote for the candidate that best aligns with your Christian values.
Looking at the list of major issues the church provided concerning the last presidential election, it took only a few seconds to see who the Priest was essentially telling us to vote for.
It boggles my mind when a voter, who professes to be a believing Christian, does not consider the beliefs of their faith when casting their vote.
When I vote, I consider who best supports:
1. my Christian values.
2. can best defend my nation against terrorism.
3. best supports traditional constitutional views (my most important issue in this category: won't disarm me).
Because of the method I use to decide who to vote for, I cannot call myself a Republican or Democrat or anything, as I am not loyal to any particular party, but rather, am loyal to my value system.
However, I'm 38 years old, and in every major election, after applying my value system to the decision process, I have voted republican.
-Greg.

Does it matter?
Does it really matter what party you vote in? If the Dems get in there will be citizens who will not be happpy and complain that that is the party to doom us. If the Republicans get in then the Dems will not be happy for they feel the R's are only interested in the rich top half. The corruption in this country has advanced so far that we no longer can say it is Christian. When homosexuality and same sex marriages are the law in many states, when abortions are conducted and also the law of many states we are on our way out as the old Roman Empire went out. I am
60+ and old enough to remember when we had a better morality, when all we dealt with was teens getting pregnant in high school. Now it does not matter if one never marries and raises to adulthood children fostered in illigitimacy. As it says, when right is wrong, black is white and all our moral underpinnings have come undone then
we ought to be concerned about the path this country is going down for we are the last super power. We are not showing to the outside world the healthy morality we used to have. It makes me sad for this country had a healthy God-based future until it is all going to hell in a hand
basket.

Yes it matters.
For at least the next few months I am 60- and I remember those days. Mess around with an under age girl and hope the cops find you before your dad (her dad, her brothers, her cousins) finds you. We need to revive the morality of those days as best we can. I don't like the word "values." Even Hitler had values.
As a matter of law, Valarie Plame was not a covert agent. Thus, no crime was committed.
Those who were against Foley, who did not sleep with any of the kids on the hill, supported Gerry Studds who did sleep with them and took them on trips to Europe. Can you spell hypocracy?
Hopefully we have taught our children a little something and can have a little influence on our grandchildren. I, for one, am not giving up yet.

Adam & Eve story is a myth
The Adam & Eve story is taken from a Chaldean myth. It never really happened. Christians say we need a savior, since those people in the garden were disobedient. Since the Adam & Eve story never really happened, we DO NOT need a savior. We are our own savior. By trying to live a righteous life, we progress thru many lifetimes to a perfected state.

Count on Christians Not Church Leaders
God will take care of his faithful children. As a country we have been incredibly blessed. I think we have been rewarded for our faith and good works. We have a history of being a very honorable and charitable nation. But as a society I have to be a little concerned. Now we're slaughtering millions of unborn children every year and there is degradation and abomination everywhere you look.
Those of us who see the importance of this situation and understand the truth of God's word need to sing it from the mountain tops. An informed student of God's word can do much to change the hearts of people walking in darkness.
Truth is contagious.
Lies are contagious too, unfortunately.
To rely on pastors to straighten things out is a big mistake. Most pastors say Sunday is the sabbath. God says the seventh day is the sabbath (Saturday) and the penalty for not keeping it is death. See Gen 2:3 and Ex 35:2.
Most pastors encourage public praying. Jesus didn't agree. See Matt 6:5-6. This is the bulk of the Christian leadership we have. We can do more on our own than by relying on and supporting these false teachers.

Boy Jesus would roll over in his grave if he had one. Pick one or the other serve god or serve man, Christians made a really bad choice with Bush and tens of thousands died as a result. You think that's all behind you but Christ, clearly said his kingdom is not of this world and there will be a day when you will have to give an account. The problem with political pastors is they don't believe the gospel.

Sorry to hear you're still serving under the law, must be tough. However there is good news Christ fulfilled the law, the bad side is you're probably not going to believe it and will stay mired down in all that legalism.

seperation of faith and religion
If you have faith then there is nothing to fear. There is also a big difference between faith and religion. One can see this in theocracies such as Iran, and historic Theocracies. They may be religious countries but they have nothing to do with being faithful.
A war of religioun is always bloody because religions seperate humanity, but a war of faith unites humanity and thus becomes a holey war of sorts.
I am not just saying faith in a higher power, but faith in the seperation of church and state. Faith in ones neighbor to run his or her own life. Faith in the power of the electorial process.
Our enemy Islam has zero faith; they have zero faith in anybody or anything. They are also in a purpetual state of war with everybody and every thing, even themselves.
There weakness is there lack of faith, there disunity is there lack of faith. All there troubles center around it.
In my view its not a question of anyones religion, but of everyones faith.

Jesus Established a Church, ie. Religion
Jesus understood human weakness.
Jesus knew we would need a community and rituals to help us maintain a moral, Christian life.
I think it is much more difficult to live a moral life if we ignore the help that can be provided by the Church.

Is THIS what a Conservative looks like?
ALL Republican voters who are crying that Romney is the true conservative need to see how this guy who drops President Reagan's name at record pace actually denounces Reagan emphatically - when in liberal company i.e. running against Ted Kennedy for Senate just a few short years ago.
They need to see how PASSIONATELY he argued for abortion rights when in company of liberals. He likes to claim that he changed his mind on abortion but let the voters SEE and listen to how he BOASTS about how pro-abortion he and his own MOTHER are and how we "will not see him waver.”
When someone is so adroit at duplicity, HOW can anyone believe that he truly means what he says -THIS TIME????
Tell me Ann Coulter. Tell me Rush Limbaugh. Tell me Laura Ingraham. Tell Me Sean Hannity!
"A vote for Huckabee is a Vote for McCain"?
The Reality: A vote for Romney - OR - McCain -is a vote FOR Clinton/Obama"

Old and new confusion
There was a time during the barbarian invasions when so called Christians believed that the demise of Rome was the demise of Christianity, but Christianity is more than the United States or Rome. Both you and Mike Lee are mistaken. I suggest you read the writings of the Early Church and learn the doctrine of the two Kingdoms: the one taught before Augustine gave his opinions on the matter of church and state. You call yourself a Christian, but are you sure you know what a Cristian is? I challenge you to read my blog, "Faith Is As Faith Does."
