Virginia Is Sitting on the energy Mother Lode

Virginia is Sitting on the energy Lode

Does the gentleman who wrote this commentary know one of the ore deposit sites is a 4-acre parcel bounded on one side by a creek?

Does he know an official of the proposed uranium mining company has stated the mine could be as deep as 850 feet? Does he know what could happen when a hole that deep is bounded by a creek?

Does he know this creek feeds into rivers that feed into the Albemarle Sound, North Carolina, which, of course adjoins the Atlantic Ocean? Does the gentleman know that whatever contamination gets into this creek will, therefore, eventually turn up in New York Harbor?

There is also a second site with larger acreage which is partially bounded by a second creek which feeds into the same system of rivers.

Does the gentleman know the ore will be processed on site which means tailings ponds are going to be located in the area of these two creeks?

Does the gentleman know the present method of handling tailings is evaporation and that there is uncertainty about what will happen to this mechanism in a climate with a rainfall level of the proposed mining/porcessing site?

Does this gentleman know the definition of "tailings" and the fact this is the most likely source of contamination for thousands of years?

I would appreciate some informed commentary by experts in these aspects of uranium mining.
