Minimum wage increase a good idea, but with provisions

Big Mistake
The minimum wage is just redistribution of wealth under another name. Studies show it hurts those who need it most by eliminating jobs as hardpressed employers just cannot handle the additional costs [not just the raise, but the concommitant increase in FICA contributions].
The market works very well, and if someone is worth more than minimum wage they usually get it. By the same token if someone is willing to work for it, than that should be fine too.
And to think that Kennedy is not just happy with it, but wants more regulation. I hate hypocritcal Libs who pass down commandments from on high while counting the money from their trust funds.

True
There are ways to increase it, however, without a major problem. I think Bush has the correct idea, 10 years no increase, while many states have already passed their own increases. It is time to increase it, just not the way Kennedy wants it.

Personal responsibility
The government should eliminate all wage laws and let the free market take care of itself. No one should know better what any job is worth more than the employer and the person willing to work that job.
My son started working when he was 17. He has never earned minimum wage because he negotiated a higher starting pay. Should not this be the model for every job?
This country was founded on the priciples of freedom and personal responsibility, isn't it time we got back to them?
