Your observations are those of a practical, realistic American, hence they will find no standing with Democrats! However, what they should consider is that Religion is a philosophical belief system which deals with explaining metaphysical questions [those beyond the physical, or what we would call the scientific ,sphere]. Atheism can be seen as a religion, a secularly based one, according to this definition, and therefore the removal of references to God actually is support for a tenet of the Atheistic religion,and thus supports a religion! This is a paradox most Liberals ignore.
