"Live Earth"

Morale of the Story

I didn't see the whole concert (just Spinal Tap and Roger Waters) but here's what I take away from it. Cool people that I admire agree that Global Warming is a man-made problem that we must solve. Opponents to this idea are overweight oil-company spokesmen, shrill Fox commentators who hate cool people that I admire, and Rush Limbaugh.

So yeah, I think the event did some good.

Symbolism over Substance...

Yeah and they can keep on trashing the planet cheered on by sycophants like yourself as long as they keep saying the right things.

BTW - What leads you to believe the globe truly is warming? Just today there is a story that Buenos Aires got snow for the first time in 89 years. And the Johannesburg Live Earth concert got low attendance cause it was cold (which isn't supposed to happen.)

Well, as long as cool people you admire keep handing out drugs and talking good it's all okay right? :D

Handing Out Drugs?

If it's substance you want, perhaps you'd have preferred a 6 hour marathon of INCONVENIENT TRUTH screenings.

Here's the thing about Global Warming - the warming itself isn't the problem. It's the weather pattern changes. The worst case scenario is another ice age. I believe there is global warming because the average temperature of the earth is warmer than it was a hundred years ago. In other words, the GLOBE is WARMING. If it's cold this week in Johannesburg, it doesn't change that. In fact, it's really really hot here in L.A. but I don't use that as proof. It's summer, you know.

oh

The warmest period of human history was during the middle ages. They were growing crops in Scotland. Ice flows retreated allowing the Vikings to go across the North Sea and colonize Greenland and NewFoundland. Moreover, there were grapes and other edible plants when they got there.

None of these things exist now. So the globe has COOLED. Why is that? The Vikings didn't have engines that created "green house gases".

I'm sorry - "An Inconvenient Truth" has a picture of Hurricane Katrina on the box. The message is obvious: SUVs are causing hurricanes.

Environmentalism has been taken over by fear and paranoia. There is NO evidence backing up any claims. There are a lot of people who claim that the average temperature of the globe has gone up .6 degrees. But there is a large minority that even disagrees with that.

Even if the globe is warming, you can't prove that humans are doing it. Some astronomers claim that Mars is right now experiencing "Mars Warming". Some believe it's because our solar system is going through a hydrogen cloud in space.

Your claims are baseless. That aside, if the globe is warming up and it's because humans are wasteful, why don't these rock stars and Al Gore change their wasteful lifestyles? You have any idea how much garbage was produced at Live Earth? How much energy was wasted?

Here is at least one of my sources:

I'd like to see yours - but don't send me a link to Al Gore's site, Moveon.org, DailyKos or any other "unbiased, non partisan" site that contributes overwhelmingly to left wing causes.

Your Source

Is an editorial. You're backing up an opinion with an opinion.

It boils down to this: I'm putting my trust in 98% of the world's scientists and you're putting yours in the 2% who work for oil companies, and James Inhofe, and the guy who wrote JURASSIC PARK. Maybe the 98% and me are wrong.

But law of averages says otherwise.
