Now that's just...

...way too cool.

Thanks, Ray

I appreciate that... and agree!

BrianR

Beautiful [mother and child] Brian at a loss for words this must be a first.

This is one thing moshe can't blame on the Fed.

Best to everyone involved. How is the new dad doing?

BrianR

Have to get back to this.

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/63405-graham-steps-from- mccains-shadow-right-into-his-shoes

"Senator Graham steps out of Senator McCain’s shadow right into his shoes"

"Sen. Lindsey Graham, a longtime friend and ally of Sen. John McCain, is now going a step further, Democrats say, and actually becoming the new McCain."

"Senior members of the majority party say the South Carolina Republican has displaced his Arizona mentor as the dealmaker on two big agenda items of the Obama administration: climate change and immigration."

"And Graham’s decision to pick up the mantle of the maverick has been noticed and not always appreciated by conservative Republicans. Hecklers at a town hall meeting in Greenville, S.C., on Monday night accused their senator of abandoning conservative principles, to which he replied that he loved the GOP too much to let it become “the party of angry white guys.”"

Wow!

I never cease to be awe inspired by newborns! Pass my congratulations on to the new parents for a job well done.

Jev, Sarge

Jev, Sarge, thanks for the kind words. All are fine, and New Dad is having a ball.

Jev, I guess that's nothing new. After all, Lindsay's nickname is Gramnesty.

Yet another nutless wonder. Him, McIdjit, Snowe, Collins... that's why the GOP's held in such vast contempt.

Then, a couple years ago when a solid conservative -- D1ck Mountjoy -- was opposing Feinstein for the Senate, the GOP wouldn't contribute one thin dime to his campaign.

I really have contempt for that party.

So, Brian,

does this mean you will start wearing your trousers pulled up to your armpits and practising "pull my finger"?

Great looking family. Congratulations to all.

LOL, Saltie!

Thanks, man.

Yeah, gotta get some of those shoes with the velcro straps, too. Maybe sandals with black socks.

Jev, Brian

Jev,

Why you always be talkin' about me, homie?

BTW, my last blog post(actually an email from the president of campaignforliberty.com) was about the very same Gramnesty.

That guy sucks.

See? We don't always disagree.

P.P.S CUTE baby!

Wow!
I never cease to be awe inspired by newborns!
______________
I know, huh?

I'm getting to a point and an age where I'm seriously and constantly thinking: "I need to settle down and have a family."

But then I think: "Would it really be such a good idea to pass along my....'seed'"?

Sometimes I think yes, sometimes no.

Moshe

Hahahahahaha!

yeah, that's a peace sign, alright. But it seems to mean something different to today's kids; just a fashion statement. She's as righty as I am... at least!

Yeah, Donnie's a bruiser.

And thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to the hat!

BrianR

Check out this piece by Walter Williams;
Part of it says.

http://www.hillsdale.edu/news/imprimis.asp

"Future Prospects for Economic Liberty"

"But this begs the prior and more fundamental question: What is the legitimate role of government in a free society? To understand how America's Founders answered this question, we have only to look at the rule book they gave us-the Constitution. Most of what they understood as legitimate powers of the federal government are enumerated in Article 1, Section 8. Congress is authorized there to do 21 things, and as much as three-quarters of what Congress taxes us and spends our money for today is nowhere to be found on that list. To cite just a few examples, there is no constitutional authority for Congress to subsidize farms, bail out banks, or manage car companies. In this sense, I think we can safely say that America has departed from the constitutional principle of limited government that made us great and prosperous."

"As I said, the Constitution restricts the federal government to certain functions."

Yeah, Jev

Of course, all of US know that.

Hell, I remember being outraged at the idea of farm subsidies all the way back in college in the mid-60s. Paying people to NOT plant stuff. Absurd.

Congrats grandpa!

LOL! There's nothing better than being a grandparent. Spoil the hell out of them, then give em back.

Well Grandpa...

...just in time. Now you can load her down with Christmas presents etc. A BIG Congrats.

Just more motivation to leave this next generation something as good or better that was left to us. DD

ITK, Darv

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, Tim, I've heard that's how it works. I'm sure looking forward to it!

Darv, that's really the key. Time to step up the fight!

Welcome To The World

Of "Grandpaism"......

Through Grandkids you can now get even with YOUR kids...........

Hahahaha, Buck!

Yeah, I remember telling Nikki, "When you're a parent, you'll know exactly what I mean...."

Now's the time!

BrianR

Another Democrat idea sunk, and one of ours proved again. [Wish the other side here at TH would see this, I think I'll give it to them]

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28399.html

"Study: Obama foes aren't race-driven"

"Despite their vehement opposition to Obama and the Democratic agenda, Carville noted that conservatives were also unhappy with their own party primarily because they believed Republican leaders are abandoning core party principles."

"“When Republicans try to be like Democrat-lite,” one conservative focus group participant said, “they’re not going to convert any Democrats to them and they’re just going to lose conservatives.”"

Yeah, Jev

It's really just glaringly obvious. One really does have to be pretty dumb to think otherwise.

As I've often said, how do you win a game by simply putting on the other team's jerseys?

Ahem...

Phew!! Finally, I click and voila! New baby pics...

Wait until Nikki stops herself one day, and says out loud,"I've become my Mother(Dad)!"

Or the first time she has to say, "if I have to stop this car..."

Heh. Sigh. First days with new babies is something I will always pine for...so much amazement and joy!

All the best to you, and your little familia! :)

Nee

Thank you. I appreciate that.

And yeah.... heh heh heh. They DO turn into "us".

Shameless

plug... a rant up at my place.

Brian...

You're not getting the gist of the revenge.

Two pleasures in one: You babysit so mommy and daddy can go out for an evening. You let the kiddo sit up in your lap watching Conan and other stuff way past bed time and he gets a Coke and a Snickers. By the time they pick him up he will be ready to scale Mt Rushmore backwards and they are tired from an evening out and just want a romantic evening in... Heh, forget that!

Hahahahaha, Buck!

I hear ya.

However.... Conan?

I don't think we'll be watching any Schwartzenegger movies in my casa anytime soon.

Brian R

Keep him up watching the second run of O'Reilly followed by second run of Hannity but out on the Left Coast they probably come on before baby's bed time.... Ah, go for "Red Eye".

BrianR

Seems like Shiela is still fighting the '08 election.

You might [?] want to give her "I Sympathize With Rush, But..." post along with the comments a look , if you want.

Brian

New Bob Basso video up at my place. Also information on tonights online airing of "Not Evil Just Wrong", the real inconvenient truth.

It's perfect timing. It's 40 degrees with a 20 mph wind out of the north. The perfect night to hear the Goracle get bashed.

Now if can just find my snuggie I'm golden!

"Sharia Law and the US Constitution"

"Americans are among the most tolerant and patriotic people in the world. As a nation of immigrants, there is a certain appeal to the idea of multiculturalism where people of different backgrounds are accepted in our communities. Our nation was founded on the principles of equality and freedom, and we have invested our resources and blood over and over again to defend those principles. Our constitution guarantees not only the freedom of speech, but also the freedom to practice our religion of choice. So it is not surprising that many Americans see Sharia Law as a Muslim religious prerogative which we should support or at least tolerate. Banks have rushed to provide Sharia-compliant banking, and public institutions like universities and airports have spent taxpayer dollars to help Muslims comply with their religious requirements, providing special foot-baths and prayer rooms for them."

"So, the next time someone suggests that we should be more understanding of Sharia Law, it would be fair to ask him/her what parts of our US Constitution would he/she be willing to abandon in order to accommodate Sharia Law."

BrianR

What do you think of this answer to my question over there;

Sheila writes:
Jevica
Answer: none of the ones you were willing to give up by handing the government over to radical leftists!

I am not willing to give up one single principle, but you evidently are willing to give them all up!

It seems to me you can get more cooperation on your principles when you have a president and VP who mostly agree with you!

It seems to me I've heard this song before...Jev...;)

My question was;
You say "I am a conservative, I know what conservative principles are" which ones are you willing to give up to elect someone like McCain?

Brian.

great looking fambily and I'm glad to see they are doing fine.

Buck, Jev, Sarge, Tazz

Buck, Bri's a "her". Bri is short for Brianna. Good suggestion, though!

Tazz, thank you, sir!

Sarge, I saw that Basso/Thomas Paine new UTube. It's a good one. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be over shortly.

Jev, I'll look over at Sheila's but judging by what you quoted, she still hasn't learned a thing. Still spouting jingoistic rhetoric, without a clue as to any kind of political reality further than the end of her nose.

GOP registration has sunk to about the 30% mark. No doubt she's part of that 30%, will always be even if it sinks to 5%, probably thinks Steele's doing a great job, would vote for a vampire if he had an (R) after his name, politics is a team sport determined by what jersey you're wearing, and is comfortable with that because it requires absolutely no critical thought on her part at all.

She's probably one of those people who condemns Paul supporters for being unthinking robots without even being aware of the irony of her holding that very stance.

There's not much you can say to people like that.

BrianR

Right on. You can always boil it down to the fewest possible points.

BrianR

Loved your comment on Shiela's blog, can't wait for her answer.

Thanks again, Jev

Yeah, I'll be interested in seeing that, too.

All Right Brian!

Great pictures!

And I love the name, Brianna. And I can tell you are very proud (and with good reason)!

Can I set up a date with her with my new grandson? I mean, in about 16 or more years?

Tris will be raised as a proper, young Southern boy; i.e., respect his elders, speak the truth, and shoot straight.

(And he already has his first rifle and a pocket knife collection.)

Tris can take her to eat at Abe's BBQ, and then either dove or deer hunting. He can even do the "drill" all Southern young men do when they try to show their date how to shoot a rifle.

Sunset on the Mississippi River Levee is very romantic.

Thanks, Gray

Proud indeed!

"Tris"... Short for Tristam? Very cool and unusual name.

I think this "arranged" marriage can be arranged. One caveat: I don't think Bri's going to need any shooting lessons. She has me for a Grandpa and I plan to learn her good (we gun nuts are all missing teeth and cain't tawk gud, y'know); and my daughter learned well at the foot of the Master (moi).

Donnie's not too shabby, either.

That having been said, I'll leave it to the wimmin-folk (Mom and Grandmom) to teach young Bri how to *act* all helpless and doey-eyed so she can hook and land that naive young man.

Hell, her Mom's an expert. She landed me! Of course... she later threw me back, too...

Maybe that wasn't a great example... Gotta think on it....

BrianR

Ask and you shall receive. No waiting. Hot from Shiela's blog.

Thank you. She is a little cutie-pie. It's simply... amazing.

Brian, Jev

It took me a while to find that 180 column and gee, sorry I did. I think Bri that you are right about Rush, Malkin, et al being effective.

And Isaiah hit it when he said that Rush was unique in that he is serious and has comedic tendencies. In my opinion his delivery really helps to point out the absurdity very clearly.

Those who are naive enough to believe otherwise will fall into another voting problem come the next election. Ahem, unless you are a Crispian!!

Gramps

Congratulations!! What a cutie.Spoil her rotten, then send her home. My FAVORITE sport. Got to ask, though,WHAT was with that shirt your daughter was wearing!??! She shop at the Code Pink boutique? mwahahahahahahahahahah

Nee, Clyde

Nee... yup. It is a burden, always being right!

LOL

Clyde, thanks, man!

Y'know, it is interesting, that nowadays the "peace" symbol is a fashion, rather than political, statement. It doesn't mean anything anymore. She's at LEAST as conservative as I am!

Congratulations all around!

...this is why we fight for conservatism...so children like Bri have a decent world in which to grow up and to which to contribute. Thanks for sharing.

IFace

Thank you... and yes! Exactly right! That IS why we do this.

Hell, I'M not going to live long enough to be destroyed by these proposals.

Brian, Jev

Is that same battle still going on Shelia's place?

Taking the high road is only going to result in us getting hit with Alinsky's Rule #4:

"Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”"

Armey is out of congress because the GOP has rules that the dems don't. Being indicted is not an impediment to dems serving in the congress.

Reagan beat them at their own game using Rule #5:

"Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."

That's all Limbaugh is doing, he's just not as slick.

Yeah, Sarge, exactly

You should swing over there and take a look.

Sgt Relic

Did they say what was offensive and to who? There was me, you and NS

Much appreciated.

Something new at my place, stop by when you get a chance.

Jev

You know what's ironic?

Isn't this exactly the type of behavior the "right" accuses the "left" of?

I know I'm not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition("of").

Oh well.

HEY TOWNHALL - DELETE THIS POST!

I'm trying to think of what the acronym TH might stand for:

Twisted hamlet?

Too humorous?

Totally humorless?

Total horse-shiit?

Terrible hubris?

Toad Heaven?

The heathens?

A New One

T.H......Turd Haven!!

Not bad. Not bad.

(Disclaimer: No offense to BrianR, Jevica, or Sgt Relic. My apologies if I'm forgetting anyone.)

Moshe,

heehee, they've nailed me a few times too!
I guess a little profanity hurts their l'il virgin ears, after all 'ya wouldn't want to offend anyone, huh?

Just a bunch of high and mighty, sanctimonious, pc pr*cks, IMO!

And I'm not talkin about our friends that we "jaw with" here, either.

BTW, I like your last moniker of TH!....Fitting!

Brian,

how do I find the site for this "Sheila" that you guys are talking about?

I'd like to "snoop around" over there and see what is going on.

I don't remember ever seeing her comment on any of the TH blogs.??

BrianR

Did I get Shiela fired up.

All I told her was she was doing the Dems work by wanting to muzzle Rush and have him change because she [and some others] don't like what/and how he says things. That was all it took, give it a read if you want, I think I may be wasting my time in trying to point out the obvious over there.

Tazzmax

Here is her site;

http://sheilafrush.blogtownhall.com/

Moshe

I didn't see the essay in question but you must have really frosted somebody. Of course, this is the same TH that hasn't gotten my blog roll to work since the format change in Feb '08.

The filters make nuts. I can say limpdick but I can't use D*** Cheney without getting flagged by the auto-filter.

Tazzman

Shelia used to be among the top five commenter's but fell off that list some time back.

The same argument has been going on at her place since before the last election. It's the classic "lesser of two evils" argument over McCain, and the lack of support by many of us for his candidacy.

IMO, stirring that pot doesn't bode well for 2010.

Jev

I think you just like poking at Shelia to see the reaction. HaHaHa!

I don't catch Limbaugh since I retired last year so I can't really judge if his show has changed. I do know that at one time he was the only voice out there that was making any sense. He's been in our market since about 1990.

Do you think Shelia will ever figure out that she's a Republican and not a conservative?

Sarge, Moshe, Tazz, Jev

Sarge, on my way.

BTW, like you I haven't listened to Limbaugh since I've retired and no longer spend all day in my car. That's been 2 1/2 years now!

Further, after his ultimate endorsement last year of McAmnesty, I find myself in a very weird position whenever I defend him, as he lost all credibility with me when he did that.

Moshe, none taken.

Tazz, here's the link:

http://sheilafrush.blogtownhall.com

Jev, I just saw that. Oooopsie!

BrianR, Jevica

Let's hope for a better future for our kids and grandkids. Great pics and the best to your grandchild.

Jev- Sheila said she wanted to muzzle Rush? Why doesn't she just stop listening to him? Simple solution.

Eric

Thanks for that kind sentiment.

Sgt Relic

Remember the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Shiela insists that she is a conservative [no more than GW Bush was]. As you say she is a Republican not a conservative.

Arguing this point is like arguing with a 9/11 truther, there is no way to win.

Eric; That's just what I said, don't like him don't listen [I got no return comment addressing that].

BrianR

One issue here.

Why was I NOT informed about this?

Congrats.

Two, any of her friends from the wedding pic still single? heh heh.

Another Conservtaive warrior born. KUDOS to momma and poppa

Guns..... whoa!

No excuses, SIR!

Y'know, I thought I did send out an email, but I was so bushed when I got home from the hospital that I think I went into brain-fart mode. Senor Momentito, as we say here in Little Mexico.

Sorry 'bout that!

BTW, as to her friends... that is SO funny! In the intervening dos anos (more Espanol), it's evidently been a real soap opera with some of them: gay relationships forming and breaking; boyfriend's coming and going; weight gains and losses; drama from end to end.

Ah, the joys of early "adulthood".

Some of them have retained their sanity, though, and actually moved ahead normally.

Cograts Brian

Sorry I didn't here earlier, heck, I'm lucky I got here at all!
Beautiful Baby (big from our perspective.

Blessings to all!

Jim

Thanks, man, I appreciate that.

Yeah... I think "big" is the word, at 8 lbs 12 oz.

Yikes!

BrianR

Never mind reading the bills they pass [I believe they should] but, "Hoyer Says Constitution’s ‘General Welfare’ Clause Empowers Congress to Order Americans to Buy Health Insurance"

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/55851

" House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that the individual health insurance mandates included in every health reform bill, which require Americans to have insurance, were “like paying taxes.” He added that Congress has “broad authority” to force Americans to purchase other things as well, so long as it was trying to promote “the general welfare.”"

Some of what I put below it from a booklet I have which puts it much better then I ever could.

Why not have them read the Constitution, the real one, not the B.S. "living one" [read it and understand it] they're only a limited number of things that the federal government is allowed to do [and the Constitution enumerates them] that's the entire general welfare garbage. If Congress were authorized to tax and spend for the general welfare, as some today read it, Congress would have been granted all but unlimited power, and the enumeration of other powers would have no purpose. You have to read this as permitting spending for enumerated reasons, and the spending for the general welfare only not particular parties. The same goes for the power Congress has to regulate "commerce among the states." Could not have been the power to regulate anything that "affects" commerce.

BrianR

Gallup poll.

"Many Gun Owners Think Obama Will Try to Ban Gun Sales"

"Fifty-five percent of this group, and 41% of all Americans, hold this belief"

http://www.gallup.com/poll/123602/Many-Gun-Owners-Think-Oba ma-Will-Try-Ban-Gun-Sales.aspx?version=print

Jev, Moshe

Moshe, I got the hat today. Hot pink! Perfect for a little girl! Thanks, man. I'll get the pic done ASAP, though that might be at least a few days. I'll forward it to you, too, but you need to send me another email. Hate to admit it, but I deleted your emails.

Jev, obviously Hoyer and those gun owners are sorely lacking in knowledge of the Constitution.

For Hoyer to asset the General Welfare clause is stupidity beyond any description. And buddy, he'll learn that when I file MY suit in Federal Court challenging that mandate, because if no on else does it, I'LL pony up the $250 filing fee and do it myself.

As to that poll:

First, no President has the "Power of the Imperial Fiat". Obambi can't "mandate" a goddamned thing.

Secondly, post-Heller there's no way in hell gun sales can ever be banned. Period.

A whole lotta stupid people running around leash-free, endangering themselves and others through sheer ignorance.

Brian

Hat?

You mean the Ron Paul hat?

Ron Paul is a republican, and grandfathers don't let their granddaughters vote republican.

Are you insane?

As far as I'm concerned, you are guilty of child abuse, young man.

You know me. And like you, I am sooooooo done with the GOP.

What's wrong with you?

I don't know, man.

I think I might have to boycott your blog.

Brian...Jev,

Thanks for the info on Sheila and what's funny, I had overlooked the fact that she had posted here before I had and I could've went to her site by clicking her name!

Either old age is gettin me or I suffered a brain fart! Ha.

Brian.

BTW, off topic but I wonder what you and the guys here think of that "FCC meeting" tomorrow?

That sure has me worried about what's going to happen if those scumbags get control of the "net"!

Somebody

is in love! What a beautiful baby, Brian! Bless you and your family for this most precious gift! All the best to you and yours!

BrianR

Be careful;

"The naked truth? Woman's account exposes different story"

http://www.wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=1790464

"SPRINGFIELD, Va. - The woman who reported to police that a man in a Springfield home exposed himself to her and her son has a different story than what Eric Williamson has told to local media."

Moshe, Tazz, Dawn, Jev

Moshe... hahahaha!

Tazz, Alzheimer's will do that to you.

I'm not aware of an FCC meeting tomorrow. I assume it has to do with net neutrality?

Anyway, I can't imagine the FCC can do much if anything. The system's become too generic and diversified. There's no real way to control it short of doing what Communist China's done... and no way do the peeps sit still for that here.

Frankly, I don't even think China's controls could be imposed here because servers are everywhere. They'd have to shut down all telecommunications. Good luck on that.

Dawn... thank you! She's a beaut!

Jev... um... weird story. And... uh... thanks for the link.

The one thing that strikes me is that the woman and her kid had to trespass through this guy's yard to see him naked. I don't see how any kind of criminal charge can be pressed.

Get this last line of a response from Shiela to Tazzmax, "You may just have helped bring the country to her knees. You sound like a Brian/Jevica/brainwashed clone. You guys are all like the left, parroting the same talking points..."

The same old tired "bring the country to its knees" hogwash.

Jev, LOL. I did leave a couple of thoughts there.

BrianR

Another Senator that could benefit from an understanding of the Constitution [US that is].

"Leahy: No one questions our authority to impose federal insurance mandate"

Here is the 40 second video [from CNSNews]

http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?v=GdSU2GqGSU

Read your comments over there, very good and right on. This brainwashed clone understood every point.

Jev

Leahy's an idiot. I can guarantee that a "mandate" will be challenged in court.

People would be unconstitutionally MANDATED to "buy" health insurance, or suffer a tax "penalty" -- otherwise known as a "fine" -- imposed without due process (unconstitutional under the Fifth Amendment) in the form of a Bill of Attainder (a violation of Art. 1, Sect. 8).

There's the challenge, right there.

Hell, if I have to pony up the $250 filing fee to challenge it myself, I'll do it!

Movie - October 21st released

After looking at the first bit of this movie

The engine of this country was not built on Barack Obama, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn, Beck, Hillary Clintion, Joe Biden, Sean Hannity, G.W. Bush, McCain, Jeb Bush, FOX News, CNBC, NBC, ABC etc. who work for the same team.

Our country was built on liberty, federal constitution, founding fathers, and seperation of powers (Jay, Madison, Hamilton, Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, R. Henry Lee, James Monroe, etc).

A real documentary just released (Oct. 21st) that will be the biggest online political movie this year.

Part I.

Part II.

BrianR

Let's see what the other side has to say about this.

"73% of GOP Voters Say Congressional Republicans Have Lost Touch With Their Base"

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/gen eral_politics/october_2009/73_of_gop_voters_say_congression al_republicans_have_lost_touch_with_their_base

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 73% think Republicans in Congress have lost touch with GOP voters from throughout the nation. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided."

"These numbers are basically unchanged from a survey in late April."

BrianR

Any kind of third party movement can hurt the GOP [and may do that if they keep this up {the liberal Republican in NY-23.} do they want to lose?

Populists will love the idea of fiscally conservative third-party insurgents making the GOP sweat, but if it produces a split vote among Republicans in a bunch of close midterm races, it could be the difference between the Democrats losing or keeping the House. There’s no good reason for the local party bosses to have nominated a liberal in a reliably red district, but this could have bad repercussions.

Sam,

scary stuff and I wouldn't be surprised.

Sam, Jev

Sam, thanks, man. And thanks for that link. It's a long film, and I'll have to watch it in "sessions".

Jev, I'd seen that polling data... but the GOP idjits seem intent on just ignoring it.

You're right. It COULD have tough implications. But here's my thought on that: if the GOP simply refuses to make the necessary change... this country's doomed anyway. We may as well go down fighting.

Either that or go through such a bad patch that a currently-third party just does to the GOP what the GOP did to the WHIGs.

I've had it! No more "nose-holding"... EVER!

Look at Schitzenheader to see what that gets you, out here in Commiefornia. Screw that!

Gratz, Grandpa B!

And send along a gratz to the mother and father for me as well.

And, no, I don't have a post on the Exeter lads up yet (still working on it; got slammed with work and family interferences).

But, yes, I do have a post on Palin's endorsement of third party candidate, Hoffman, for NY's 23rd district. So, if anyone's interested in this race for it's Conservative vs. Republican implications, feel free to drop on by.

Brian

hehe... Sheila just isn't getting it. I wonder if there has been a term coined for GOP'ers who are stuck on stupid?

I have to admit, it was really hard to leave the tow when voting. But, as we know, it's principles and if you don't have that, ya got nothing. If things keep going the way they are, I do believe the third party is going to gain serious traction.

Congratulationg Grampy B,

beautiful child. I'm glad everything's going well, I'm sure she'll be keeping you busy.

With regards to what Jev posted,

""“When Republicans try to be like Democrat-lite,” one conservative focus group participant said, “they’re not going to convert any Democrats to them and they’re just going to lose conservatives.”" "

it looks like stuck on stupid is the GOP's campaign slogan.

"The National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) and the Republican National Committee have given cash to Scozzafava and both organizations reiterated their support for the candidate despite widespread conservative outcry.

“The NRCC supports the Republican candidates in the general election. That’s our policy in the past and that’s our policy moving forward,” said John Randall, spokesman for the NRCC."

"I would say to every Republican: you have a chance to elect somebody who has signed the no tax pledge; she's endorsed by the National Rifle Association; she is opposed to cap and trade and energy taxes; she is opposed to the Obama health plan; and, she will vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker,” said Newt Gingrich on TWT Radio. “That is a pretty good starting point - even if she is more liberal than I am and on other issues I disagree with her completely."

Isn't cap and trade one of the things Newt disagrees with her completely about? What a sack of craap.

I have a hard time seeing why the Reps will go anywhere in 2010 or 2012, no matter how bad Obama and the Dems do. If you're whole campaign is based on how bad the other guy is while you're not all that active in opposing him or proposing to do anything very different from him, don't be surprised if people notice that Barry's not the only emperor without any clothes on.

There is a sliver of good news, though:

"Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman has made significant inroads in the race. Just yesterday, Hoffman was endorsed by Ken Blackwell, Rep. Michelle Bachman, and former Majority Leader Deeck Armey." (Stupid TH censor won't let me write his name properly)

And in the comments someone mentioned Palin did too.

http://townhall.com/columnists/JillianBandes/2009/10/23/sco zzafava_feeling_the_heat_in_ny-23?page=full&comments=true

Cyne, Nee, Philosoph

Cyne, thank you.

I'll be right over. You saw my comments on your last essay?

LOL

Nee, I'll be right over.

Yep, I agree. Without principles, what are we, really? I do like Sheila. She's a nice girl, and I'm sure very sincere. She just doesn't get it.

Philosoph, thanks to you, too. Appreciated.

She DOES keep me busy, and I love it. I spent ten minutes yesterday bent over the crib getting her to sleep... and haven't been able to straighten up since! My damned back sucks!

"“The NRCC supports the Republican candidates in the general election. That’s our policy in the past and that’s our policy moving forward,” said John Randall, spokesman for the NRCC."

That's a complete crock! As I wrote at the time, when D1ck Mountjoy -- a very solid conservative -- was running against Feinstein for the Senate seat, neither the state nor national GOP would give him ONE THIN DIME in support. It was outrageous.

I consider Gingrich a piece of crap, of course, ever since he sat on that couch with Pelosi squawking about "climate change". A has-been dinosaur who's lost his mind.

I wrote several times about how the GOP is just the "Vote for us! We're not THEM!" party. A bunch of whiny purposeless political hacks looking for job security. We'll see. So far I'm not impressed much, other than a few exceptions.

Brian

The GOP is hopeless! They are still trying to play the same game and blowing the opportunity to win.

The SCDS has gone national! It's called the Tea Party movement now but the GOP stalwarts are running away from it. Idiots!

Bad elephant, no peanut for you!!!

Hahahaha, Sarge!

I really like that "bad elephant" thing! Too cool.

BrianR

"sophistry, a meaningless jingo." What nice words you use.

Since "Cyne" also brought up the NY-23 race will he be a "clone" also?

Hahahaha, Jev!

Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, poor ole Cyne. Whole lotta clonin' a'goin' on out theah!

It's now time for....

a SHAMELESS BLOG PLUG!!!!

(haven't done that in a couple of weeks)

Craw

Thanks fir the heads up. On my way.

Speaking of Grandparents....

New post at my place.

Moshe attempts to answer the question:

Do republicans hate grandparents?

LOL, Moshe!

I'll be right over, man.

I've been cloned?

Or I am a clone? Let me know if it's the former, so I can put 'im to work. In other news, I've got a minor update on the Palin/Hoffman post, Ray and I coined the term "Rezombiecans" in the comments section, and I left another comment at Sheila's.

Whoa, Cyne the Clone!

You've been a busy boy!

Good 'un

at Sheila's (actually two, I guess).

Congrats, BrianR

A new generation. Give her all your love to grow up on.

Bob's Unc

Thanks; that's a terrific thought. Count on it.

BrianR

Congrats to you and great pictures. I wish the happy couple well.

BrianR

Something I believe we can all agree on, Congress should realize this.

" . . . as James Madison, the father of our Constitution, explained, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.""

I have seen this before but picked it up again in a 2003 column by Walter Williams, "Commerce Clause Abuse: How Congress Circumvents Both the Letter and Spirit of the Constitution" Boy how they do it.

http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=3295

Yep, Jev

ALL the damned time. That's the single most abused clause of the Constitution, followed by General Welfare.

Brian

Thanks for that link. Funny, I guess if I had believed all the Dems had said about the "evil" industry of health care insurers etc...I might have considered the profits. Alas, now I won't forget.

The questions I keep getting from left thinkers is why should it be profitable if it's a gov't entity?
Oy.

Nee, that says it all

That's about as perfect a capsulization of socialist/communist/fascist thought as there is.

PS...

Some great quotes!!

The General Welfare
* In 1794, when Congress appropriated $15,000 for relief of French refugees who fled from insurrection in San Domingo to Baltimore and Philadelphia, James Madison stood on the floor of the House to object saying, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
-- James Madison, 4 Annals of congress 179 (1794)

* "Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."
--Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

* "I can find no warrant for such an appropriation in the Constitution, and I do not believe that the power and duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit."
-- President Grover Cleveland vetoing a bill for charity relief (18 Congressional Record 1875 [1877]

* "I cannot find any authority in the Constitution for public charity. [To approve the measure] would be contrary to the letter and spirit of the Constitution and subversive to the whole theory upon which the Union of these States is founded."
-- President Franklin Pierce's 1854 veto of a measure to help the mentally ill.

and again...

LIMITED Federal Govt Power
* "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."
-- James Madison, Federal No. 45, January 26, 1788

* "I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that 'all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people.' To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power not longer susceptible of any definition."
-- Thomas Jefferson, Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank, February 15, 1791

* "I see,... and with the deepest affliction, the rapid strides with which the federal branch of our government is advancing towards the usurpation of all the rights reserved to the States, and the consolidation in itself of all powers, foreign and domestic; and that, too, by constructions which, if legitimate, leave no limits to their power... It is but too evident that the three ruling branches of [the Federal government] are in combination to strip their colleagues, the State authorities, of the powers reserved by them, and to exercise themselves all functions foreign and domestic."

LOL, Nee!

I use that Madison quote all the time.

BrianR

Another good one.

"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions." (James Madison, Letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792 Madison 1865, I, page 546)

"Money cannot be applied to the General Welfare, otherwise than by an application of it to some particular measure conducive to the General Welfare. Whenever, therefore, money has been raised by the General Authority, and is to be applied to a particular measure, a question arises whether the particular measure be within the enumerated authorities vested in Congress. If it be, the money requisite for it may be applied to it; if it be not, no such application can be made." James Madison

http://www.connorboyack.com/blog/general-welfare

"The difference between the two definitions is striking; indeed, they are wholly disparate. This etymological evolution was commented on by Noah Webster himself . . . "

"In the lapse of two or three centuries, changes have taken place which, in particular passages, … obscure the sense of the original languages…. The effect of these changes is that some words are not understood … and being now used in a sense different from that which they had … present wrong signification of the false ideas. Whenever words are understood in a sense different from that which they had when introduced… mistakes may be very injurious." Noah Webster

Great stuff, Jev

How did we get so far from our founding philosophy?

The Founders clearly understood it would be the death of this country, and history speaks so clearly that most, if not all, the great empires/countries failed due to internal dissipation.

They either fell apart on their own, or were so weakened they fell to outside pressures.

Egypt, Sparta, Greece, Rome, Great Britain, the USSR, and many others.

Why would anyone think WE'D be the sole exception?

BrianR

I read once [can't remember where] Once we discovered we could spend money raised as taxes on whatever we want, that was the end of it.

BTW the argument still going on over there. What you bring up seems to be what Shiela says will happen here because of BHO. But look at the GOP during Bush [43] they had the drunken sailor spending syndrome.

We have to get back to conservative founding roots.

Jev, I see

you've been reading Dr.Zero; I just posted a link to his/her essay on my blog. Right after I did that, I saw you had quoted Doc over on Sheila's blog. Great minds and all that...

Jev,

You may be thinking of the Tytler quote, which I've used here quite a few times:

"When the people awaken to the fact that they can vote to themselves generous gifts from the public treasury, democracies fail".

BrianR

Checked into that "quotation from an 18th century writer by the name of "Tyler."

What I found so far is interesting.

http://unpopops.blogspot.com/2009/03/conservative-spam.html

The Truth About Tytler, by Loren Collins

http://lorencollins.net/tytler.html

The original version can be read here. The above version is an edited version of the piece with new source material, and was posted online on January 25, 2009.

http://lorencollins.net/tytler1.html

Well,

It's a popular attribution, which I generally note.

Franklin was credited by some sources as saying something very similar.

That's a good article on the topic, one of many.

BrianR

It's the point of the words that's important

BrianR

Which way should we go? Brian's way or Shiela's way?

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/77684.html

"South Carolina: A central front in battle for GOP soul"

"The national debate among Republicans over their party's future is nowhere sharper than in South Carolina, where Sens. Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint pursue distinctly different visions for restoring GOP primacy at the polls."

Ugh!

My 49ers lost to the Texans today.

Before the kick-off - for whatever reason - the two Bush's were featured.

I guess it's because they're native Texans.

Bush #1, and his equally-offensive offspring, "W".

I blame them for the loss today.

Oh - them, AND the FED, of course.

(Hi, Jev!)

Great Quotes...

... from the founders.

You know.... there was a guy who was running for president who was saying ALL the things we're saying here.

I keep forgetting his name.

Where was the support for this guy on TH?

Why was Michelle Malkin saying that he doesn't even deserve to be up there with other "republicans"?(That's in "quotes", by the way.)

Would we even know who Malkin was if she weren't a Filipina? Or... whatever she is?

Does that offend anyone?

Can I speak my mind here?

Much less the truth?

I'm asking serious questions, worthy of debate.

Jev, Moshe

Jev, I'll tell you what I think is a very healthy and hopeful sign: that this dialogue IS becoming national and public in scope, rather than confined to just us political junkies and computer geeks.

I think that's very important.

Moshe, I have to say, when it comes to spectator sports, you're talking to the original know-nothing when it comes to me. I just never developed any interest.

Soooo... as far as I'm aware, that loss probably IS due to the Fed!

Paul has always been part of the debate. During the ekections, he had quite a few very high profile advocates on the site.

I do have to say, the main thing that marginalizes him is his position on foreign affairs/defense. It's just so... out there somewhere.

Congrats!

Enjoy being Grandpa, I hear there's nothing quite like it!

BTW, new post to peruse at The Spade.

Ed, thanks!

I just got back from some child-rearing so my daughter could catch some ZZZs. It was great!

Already cme, saw, and commented. Good essay!

Brian

The messiah is coming! That's right, the One is going to be in our fair city to try and talk people out of defeating the odious Creigh Deeds next week.

The Hampton Roads Tea Party is going to be on hand to make him feel welcome!

News tomorrow night at 11, arraignments Wed. commencing at 9am.

In other news from my blog,

Pawlenty endorses Hoffman:

“We cannot send more politicians to Washington who wear the Republican jersey on the campaign trail, but then vote like Democrats in Congress on issues like card check and taxes. After reviewing the candidates’ positions, I’m endorsing Doug Hoffman in New York’s special election. Doug understands the federal government needs to quit spending so much, will vote against tax increases, and protect key values like the right to vote in private in union elections.”

Brian

"I do have to say, the main thing that marginalizes him is his position on foreign affairs/defense. It's just so... out there somewhere."

________________________

Out there somewhere? How many Americans still believe we should STILL(after 8 years?) be in Iraq and Afghanistan?

So I guess most Americans are... "out there"?

We're both intelligent and reasonable men. I simply don't understand how we can ..... have a divergence of opinion here.

How can you be so wrong?

LOL!

I know this doesn't interest you, so I'll leave it at that.

But I stand by my original statement that Malkin is a repulsive creature. Her... and Coulter.

Malkin smacks Newt in the chops

Scroll down and watch Newt tell half truths. (Yes, The Scozz won, but only because Janet Duprey pulled a switcheroo:

"Duprey has since acknowledged that her delegation had wanted Maroun as their nominee, admitting that “the Clinton County committee members… voted for the candidate they supported. Paul Maroun received the majority of the votes.” Janet Duprey later justified her shift by saying that 'it was clear that Dede was the winner… Everyone wants a winner.'"

Newt fails to note that the would be winner, Maroun, was a conservative).

Anyway, here's the Malkin link:

BrianR

Congrats on the expansion of your family! Baby is beautiful and glad she and the parents are doing well!

Moshe, Cyne, AmerSweets

Moshe, I'm not interested in getting back into this pointless debate with you. The issue isn't Iraq. The issue is his bizarre ideas aboiut when or if the country should ever even participate in wars at all.

Cyne, if that pig Gingrich ends up winning the GOP nimination in 2012, I guess I'll be voting third party again. Ever since he sat on that couch with Pelosi squawking about "climate change" I can't stand that f**ker.

And the GOP will no longer be The Stupid Party. They'll be The Incredibly And Amazingly Stupid And Suicidal Party.

On a lighter note: AmerSweets! Thank you!

I'm the oh-so-proud Granddad.

Yeah, Brian,

I think he outthought himself. He could have had everyone eating out of his hand. Instead, he's bit the hand that feeds him. The Pelosi gig made me cringe, but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Strategery and all that. But he has since shown that the Pelosi gig is just part of the pattern. His nomination would be a disaster for so many reasons.

BrianR

Your friend [Shiela] seems like she is getting real steamed.

She seems to look at it like she [and those that think like her] are the protectors of the country against the evil BHO and we are those that would let the country fall, because of our beliefs and principles.

Cynewulf, Brian

Newt lost me at "green conservatism" but not satisfied with embracing the Goracle, he went on to do the "Hillary Care Handholding Tour", "The Slap and Tickle" PSA and most recently teamed up with Al Sharpton on education.

He has had more "Odd Couple" headlines than anyone I can think of, and yet, he's mulling a presidential run?

And now he parachutes into NY-23 to save the RINO and then bad mouths OUTSIDERS coming into a local race? Unbelievable!

I can't take that much cognitive dissonance in a single human being!!! HaHaHa!

Thanks for the link.

Jev

I guess I'll set the Wayback for Feb 2008 and head over to Shelia's. When you think about it, I guess it would save a lot of time if you write the same blog post over and over again.

hey Brian

Posted this on 180...

I have never posted. But answer this:
If the election results were 53% for The Pied Piper and 46% for the Pied Piper white, how is it that those who voted third party led to having a Marxist in power?

Because, 1,250,000 people actually voted third party, and there were many who didn't vote at all. I believe because they chose not to do the 'lesser of two evils' thing.

What you are saying makes no sense. Bush was wrong on many things, but I believe I would rather have him as President, even now. You are castigating everyone here simply because they did not vote republican or because they disagree with many of Bush's decisions. This is not objective or helpful to your cause.

I personally don't hate Bush, but the liberals do and voted for Obama based on that, not because he was the man for the job. I don't know many conservatives who Hate Bush in the sense you suggest, either.

We have a life and at the moment, still have a Country and a republic. Soon, we may not. But I am an SCDS'er, after all. You can condemn and ridicule your commenters if you must.
I daresay, you sound like The Pied Piper and are against dissent if we don't play by your rules.

Nee, Jev, Sarge

Nee, Jev, I just left another comment at Sheila's. She keeps refusing to respond to my question.

Sarge, the moon-faced former conservative known by the name of an amphibian is so far past his "use by" date that he's stinking up the whole refrigerator. He can't even be put into the recycle bin.

Straight to the toxic waste dump!

(How... "green" of me!)

Nee

Nee, I saw your great comment at Sheila's. It'll be interesting to see how she responds to it.

BrianR

A lot of bobbing and weaving going on there.

BrianR

This reminds me of a comment I had here;

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Read-the- bills_-How-about-reading-the-Constitution_-8441200-66032232 .html

"Gene Healy: Read the bills? How about reading the Constitution?"

"It's said that the Roman emperor Caligula posted new laws high on the columns of buildings so citizens couldn't read them and figure out how to avoid their penalties. He could have achieved the same effect by covering the country with such a dense thicket of rules that no one could tell what the law commands."

"Legend has it that Caligula also made his favorite horse a senator. Considering how lightly most of our legislators take their constitutional obligations, you could probably do worse." [who would vote for the horse? What about if he ran on the GOP line?]

Hey, Brian, new post at my place.

A preponderance of prime points for peeps who put principle before party. Or something like that. Drop on by when you get a chance.

Jev, Cyne

Jev, those actions of Caligula aren't just legend; they're fully documanted by contemporary chroniclers. Caligula -- "Little Boots", as his name translates, from his early childhood in the field with his father on military campaigns -- was quite a piece of work. Mad as a hatter.

Commented at Sheila's too, btw.

Cyne, on my way.

BrianR

Read your comment there, good one. I was commenting at the same time. It's like swimming against the tide, you never get anywhere.

BTW will we see a picture of the new one with the Ron Paul hat?

Man, oh man!!

That gal is hard-headed. I left this after her latest comments directed at the infantile peeps on her blog(ahem)!

*We* are nutty and infantile in this discussion? Get out the mirror, Sheila. Whether you say nutty, etc...with little smiley faces and agree with Patrick's comment, we are not infantile, or nutty.

*We* are, however, trying to point out your own infantile inferences. How 1.25 million people who voted third party led a marxist to be voted in as President and now we *got* what was coming!!

And Patrick is the voice of reason? No offense to Patrick, but geesus! Republicans have not done anything to get rid of social programs?

Uh, how about two sides on every coin? How about the voters actually paying attention to what matters, like picking people who stand for our principles, and not towing the party along.

I can say I understand your passion and the need to be "right", but sadly, I believe it to be misguided. You are ignoring facts so you can claim your absolute loyalty to a party that could give two poops about you. You just keep missing that point, no matter how many times it is pointed out, don't you?

And for the record, you are behaving as a Republican, not as a conservative. Big difference as Rush points out.(ssssstttt!!)

SCDS

WOW. About all one can say about the direction the clowns at the GOP are taking the party. All the usual suspects supporting the R in NY 23 over the conservative.HJC,what a mess. I would like to say this is all new,but sadly,it isn't. The blue-blooders DID NOT want Reagan EITHER in '76,or in'80. As to Newt, who gives a hoot? These people like him are suffering from a terminal case of Beltwayitis. The ONLY known cure is for them to GTF out of there POST-HASTE.
I don't see much chance of that happening either.

Jev, Nee, Clyde

Thanks, Jev.

It's hard to get any picture right now other than her eating or sleeping. That, and pooping, seem to be her only states of existence. I'm looking for an opportunity, though!

Nee, that's a great comment. She simply refuses to see or accept the real nature of her position. She can't. It would entail admitting that her position isn't unassailable. That's why she couches it in such moral certitudes. It's the equivalent of Gore's "the discussion is over" mantra.

That's what people do when they know they've taken an indefensible position on something: try to shut down dissent.

Hahahaha, Clyde! Beltwayitis. Is that anything like cranial rectitus?

Brian

Indeed it is. I think, though,Beltwayitis is terminal.

BrianR

This is the new post put up over there;

"There are people who call themselves conservatives who are willing to let radicals rule than to vote for candidates that don't"

Yeah, Jev

I saw that. I have no idea what it means. Very cryptic! And I don't have one of the secret decoder rings.

BrianR

Yah I asked don't what?

I also asked, since she put this in her last post, ""But alas, the discussion is becoming repetitive. We disagree on the each other's positions, and we won't change each other's minds, so we have to agree to disagree."

Then you put up this post that invites the same discussion all over again.

And Brian

Fred Thompson has a new video out alluding to that voting for someone with an R behind their name. Guess some people are stuck on stoopid!!

Gee, I feel SMRT!! :)

Brian,

I saw Sheilas' new post and commented, "there you go again"! Haha.

This the GOP & phony independents

This is the real GOP.

It is funny how the GOP and the wannabe independents like Sarah Palin (what she stand for other than her birthday suit), Fred Thompson (viagra for his 30yr old wife & former China lobbyist), and that piece of filth Rick Santorum (religious phony) trying to co-op the 3rd party movement. This is outrageous.

Let me tell you something Fred, Sarah, and Rick. When you guys address real issues that include national sovereignty, the Federal Reserve, the fraudulent banking and tax system, the GMO foods, and the US Constitution then you can be taken seriously. No, the Americans don't want any Bush and Cheney lackeys, who will just sit and drool at your stupid police state legislation.

The real GOP (Grayson Kentucky) - stalking his primary candidate. Must be using Cheney's and Bush's patriot act to spy on his opponents.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj3emi1GlgQ&feature=player_e mbedded

Sam

Stop smoking that stuff man.

There appears to still be a couple of brain cells left, I know you're at the drooling stage and it seems like going through life wasted is all that's left to you but maybe there's hope.

Nah, you're toast. Go ahead take a few more hits, what the h3ll you were probably ignorant before you started. Ain't like the world is missing out on some great brain trust.

Ray

I have plenty of brain cells that are more productive than Fred's, Palin's, or Santorum's. Mine didn't fall off when I supported Bush and McCain (like Fred Thompson, Palin, and Santorum).

Fred Thompson and Palin are great actors. When compared to George Washington, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison they look like Benedict Arnold's.

Since they are on FOX News, that makes them heros (by what account?). FOX, like (PMSNBC) or MSNBC are political lackeys for the parties.

My apologies there Sam, I didn't...

...mean to disturb you. Please continue what you were busy with.

It all simply comes together so well the way you explain it.

Jev, Nee, Tazz, Sam, Ray

Jev... LOL!

Nee, someone else mentioned that Thompson video somewhere, too. Do you have a link? I'd like to see it.

He really ended up being one huge disappointment. I want my $200 contribution back!

Tazz... "Repeat the mistakes of the past" personified! LOL!

Sam.... re your take on Palin, I do have to say, you made me chuckle. She is, indeed, the one politician I wouldn't mind seeing in a Playboy layout....

I guess I just totally revealed my male piggism. Well... it's not as if I don't like girls.

Ray, c'mon, man. Let's leave the personal insults at the door, okay?

Brian, yeah you're right...

...but I ain't gonna hug him.

Hahahahaha!

Now I have to purge that mental image....

Thanks a lot, dude!

Brian

I saw your 3 Sergeants comment over at Cynewulf's and found myself in need of spew alert. HaHaHaHaHa!

Heck, Glenn Beck's making a fortune, maybe we should take that show on the road. What would you call that, The Armed and Dangerous Tour?

BrianR

Found this on the web, it's about your favorite gov. Arnold, it's funny don't know if it's real or not;

http://www.sfbg.com/blogs/politics/

In the first post follow the link in the first sentence, "Wow, this thing got a lot of attention" [the words "this thing"]

Take a look and see if you can figure what it is before you look at the answer

Sarge, Jev

LOL, Sarge! I LIKE that tour name!

Jev, I'd already heard about that on the radio yesteday, so I'm not the right guy to test that on... unfortunately.

Pretty funny, either way. Ah-nuld's poll numbers are down to about 25%. What a turkey.

Gimme an L - O - S - E - R!

What does it SPELL?

ARNOLD!

Brian,

saw the Arnold thing; not a big fan, but I have to give him some credit there if he did in fact do it. What really stinks about Arnold, is that, from my point of view, California is not fundamentally different from before Arny was governor, and now Californians can say they gave a Republican a chance and it didn't make any difference. Almost makes you think. Or something.

Btw, I commented on the 3 Sarge thing, and have a minor update (Medved signs on).

If you all do go on tour,

you can call it Three Sarge Night.

Hahaha, Cyne

Arnold's numbers are EXACTLY where Gray Davis's were when he was recalled.

I'm proud to say I refused to vote for that jacka$$ either time.

"Three Sarge Night"!

We could do a hit song called "Three Is the Lonliest Number"...

On my way, pard.

Brian

As you know, The One, came to Virginia Tuesday to save Creigh Deeds, tie up traffic, and it is rumored, to heal the sick and raise the dead. (the dead vote democrat ya' know)

Rasmussen has Deeds dropping another point in the aftermath!!!

What is this strange sensation coming over me? OMG, I'm happy! I had almost forgotten what that felt like. HaHaHa!

BTW

I'm down with the tour but I was leaning more toward just abusing the audience for a couple hours and then getting paid.

Maybe Gunny could demonstrate the proper field stripping of a Moonbat....stuff like that. LOL!

beautiful grand daughter, BrianR

sorry for the delayed comments - you usually warn me when you post something new!

Your daughter's beautiful as well. Guess you didn't intimidate Donnie away from your girl! hahaha. He looks like a character.

Good for all y'all.

Sarge, Speedi

Sarge, we could do demonstrationa of the manual of arms. That would be a show-stopper, I'm sure.

Speedi, thanks. Yeah, I didn't send out notifications or plugs on this one because it was just a personal thing, rather than one of my earth-shaking pronouncements.

Donnie's a hoot. Great guy. He does kinda look like one of the Sopranos, though, doesn't he?

mia?

Snowed over a foot here in the Denver Metro area...

Looks like Globull warming is MIA.

Hahahaha, Eric!

Yeah, where the hell's that globull warming when ya need it?

Someone tell Mr. Nobel Winner AlBore to crank up the engines on his jet...

This just in!

I have always wanted to say that to open a comment! HaHa!

I just got an email from one our local Tea Party members who is on the ground in NY-23.Here's part of what he wrote:

"Here in New York, we're seeing all signs point to a win for the Tea Party Movement. Polls are showing Hoffman in the lead, and the events we've been to suggest that the Democrat and the Republican are both underdogs.

We believe the conservative candidate in this race can win this, and we believe it will be a HUGE victory for the Tea Party Movement."

How great would that be?

Sarge

That's exactly what we need. Not only a validation of what we're doing, but a glaring warning to the GOP boneheads that their BS ain't flying anymore.

This would be especially gratifying in that it would take the damned halo off Gingrich's round head.

Un-saint him, if you will. That ALONE is worth the price of admission.

Hey Brian, Jev Cyne, Nee, Sarge,

I had no clue I was the center of comments here on the island! Gee, lots of misinformation going on here...

I think you all need to go back and re-read my post!

For the record, I don't want Rush muzzled or banished, as some have said here.

And btw, someone hacked into my blog and posted a blog in my name which I have reported, and deleted.

I think you guys need to lighten up! You're taking yourselves way too seriously!

We simply have some disagreements: to put more democrats into power or not to put more democrats into power... that's it. And it seems you all got what you wanted! So be happy!

Think I'll write another post on the subject, since you all seem to always go there regardless of what the blog is about!

LOL, Sheila

Yeah, I wondered about that weird new partial "essay".

But it's not about "putting more Democrats into power". That's what you constantly fail to understand.

It's about refusing to support GOP hacks who don't stand for anything.

Hey Brian,

Have you ever heard of that happening here on TH? Or has it happened to you?

Sheila

I have heard of it happening (though not to me). I've also heard of people's essays just magically disappearing, too.

I'm not computer-savvy enough to know why, though I suspect that it is hacking of some kind. Though why anyone would bother is waaaaay beyond me.

I mean, it's not like we don't pay attention to our own blogs, or lack the ability to edit or delete them ourselves once we see it.

Yea, that was clearly some lame attempt at it at your place. Not only did it not make any sense, it just ended abruptly mid-sentence, as if the hacker's program crashed before completion.

Shiela

You say "I think you guys need to lighten up! You're taking yourselves way too seriously!"

Then you say that if we continue the way we believe/and follow our principles it will be the end of the USA.

This comment seems to say believe and do like me or, "We simply have some disagreements: to put more democrats into power or not to put more democrats into power... that's it. And it seems you all got what you wanted! So be happy!"

So looks like our principles should not be followed if it may result in Democrats being elected.

Shiela,

don't blame me; I just work here. Anyway, I don't know that your the center of comments around here, but, that you are mentioned more than once is because the people around these parts genuinely like you. Speaking for myself, I don't generally post comments on people's blogs if I don't like them. I imagine it's the same with everyone else here.

Brian, and readers,

got an update at my place that requires a vote from you (if you have the time and the inclination).

Brian

Yeah it was pretty stupid...I communicated with Chris about it, he's on it.

Maybe it's Halloween...;)

Hey Jev...

I guess I'm starting to sound like you lecturing me all the time...LOL

Sorry if it appears I'm saying my way or no way...I'm just saying dems in charge= no conservatism advancing in government.

Where am I wrong?

Hey Cyne...

I understand we all get heated in our debates...I just prefer people confronting me personally, not misrepresenting my position at someone elses' blog.

I've heard people saying I "want more moderates in there" huh? That is so bogus.

Thanks for the kind words...:)

I'll try to express myself better, since I seem to be blowing it...LOL

Btw, to all who have implied

I'm not conservative here, please find a blog I've written that proves your point. I don't appreciate people putting words in my mouth when I'm not there to defend myself.

I have enjoyed being on TH because we have been able to debate, and even when it gets heated we can still remain civil. I have probably fallen into some of the patterns which I myself have criticized... so I apologize if I have been rude...;) but please. No misinformation about people. That is not what conservatives do, is it?

Eric...

Please find a post where I said I want to "muzzle Rush". If you would read my blog which people are referring to you would understand this is bogus.

You're losing your credibility, Eric.

I would appreciate it if you would ask me if that is what I want to do, rather than spreading false rumors.

Shiela

You supported McCain,

" . . . and I'm not willing to send America down the river if I don't have a 100% perfect party."

"I agree with his conservative views, except for not supporting the GOP candidate over the letfwing radicals when the country is at stake."

"I'm not "confused". I don't want moderates if I can have a conservative." [and if you can't have a conservative]

Guys

Sheila, I think Cyne hit it on the nose. Like him, I don't waste my time commenting on the blogs of people I don't like.

Also, I don't think anyone's said -- here or anywhere -- that you're not conservative. The disagreement -- at least mine -- is in your strategy, and the conclusions you've drawn from the last election.

And, as Jev pointed out, you do tend to ignore the reasoning of people with whom you don't agree and make hyperbolic accusations -- the oft-repeated " . . . and I'm not willing to send America down the river if I don't have a 100% perfect party", as Jev points out -- which completely misstates our position. Further, it's a form of demonization that some people could react very negatively to. "Send America down the river"? I mean... c'mon. We could very easily make that same accustation going the other way, but I don't see comments to that effect; at least I haven't written any.

Cyne, on my way.

Brian,

Thanks for the NY23 update! I put the info in an update. What I didn't have time to do though was note that Michael Steele has said they would support Hoffman if he wins; The Newt is pretty much the only one who hasn't abandoned ship.

Hahaha, Cyne!

As you note at your place:

"The Newt thinks this will destroy the party."

Which is exactly what it needs: to be "destroyed" and reborn in conservatism.

Gingrich should go back to eating peanuts in Georgia, or whatever he was previously doing.

SCDS

GREAT news about the faux R bowing out of NY23. Although I don't think it'll have much effect on the "stuck on moderate" coalition that is running the GOP. Whack #683 to the head. HOW MANY more will it take? Stay tuned.

Yeah, Clyde

We were WAY ahead of the curve on this.

BrianR

"In order to help close a budget shortfall, the state will increase withholding from paychecks by 10%, in essence forcing every working person in California to make an interest-free loan to the state" And they don't even use a gun.

"Think of it as theft. Most Californians won’t be as sanguine about getting their tax refunds next April, not after watching the IOUs go out this summer from Sacramento. What happens when April rolls around and the state still doesn’t have the cash? Do they confiscate the refunds and promise to pay them back in 2011?"

"California to withhold a bigger chunk of paychecks"

Brian

LOL...;)

I guess I have sometimes sounded a little "Brianesque" in my hardheadedness, no?

We seem to lecture each other quite a bit around here on TH...I guess that means we have some very strong views on how to get things done...and Jev isn't exactly a softy in his approach either...;) right Jev?

Btw, that is good news in NY. Hope Hoffman can pull it off.

"Exclusive: ‘Flying Imam’ Out-of-Court Settlement Has Chilling Implications for Security of American Citizens"

We’ve all been told that falsely yelling “fire” in a crowded theater is not covered under “free speech.”

However, it seems that shouting “Allah Allah Allah!” while playing Musical Chairs on a crowded airplane is not only free speech, but a matter of “civil rights.”

Indeed!

I was pis*sed at Newt myself. My sugar Daddy applied some logic and it made sense...but my SCDS traits held fast. And look, as someone said, Scuzzy bit the dust.

SILENT NO MORE!! Drink more Tea!!

And I'll introduce the three Sarges, boy! Nothing could beat a strip down by the Guns with supporting Sarges'!

Another thought: Bachmann has called for peeps who can to show up in DC on Thursday...a mini health care revolt, I'd call it.

At any rate, I might be able to swing that...but if you cannot, please get to your nearest rep office and apeak loudly!! Resurrect your signs!!

Since the Pied Piper had no clue we were there on 9/12, my sign will say, "CANYOUHEARME, NOOOOOWWWWW!!!?

Brian

I was offline most of yesterday owing to an early morning call letting us know that my wife's sister had died during the night. It wasn't unexpected but we thought she might have a little more time remaining.

I completely missed the NY-23 announcement. Thanks for posting it at my place!

I'll catch you guys tomorrow. Try not to let any really important happen until then. LOL!

Jev, Sheila, Nee, Sarge

Jev, we Commiefornians are continuallty bankrolling the absurd state spending on liberal targets (social programs, unions) through those hidden tax increases, and that's yet another example. Even if people get a full refund, they've esentially made an interest-free loan to the state.

And those Imams... the pendulum will only swing so far before it starts back.

Sheila, let's face it, we're all political junkies. We do this stuff for FUN, so it should remain fun! There's no reason to get into personal acrimony. Hey, we're all nice people.

My opinion is that if I was only friends with people with whom I agreed on everything, I'd be a pretty lonely guy.

That's one of the reasons I don't want personal attacks here.

Nee... hahahahaha!

"Drink more tea!" That's a New Classic! And the "hear me nooooooow".

Thanks for the morning laugh on this fine Sunday!

Sarge, my sincere condolences, to you and your family.

Nee, Brian,

how about: You can have the Kool-Aid; we're drinking tea.

Cyne

Actually, I think that's brilliant.

Hey, Brian,

what's your thoughts on this:

http://minx.cc/?post=294241

"Actually, I think that's brilliant."
Lol, someone break out the trademark and start making us some money!

Sarge.

Condolences to you and your family!

Death in the family is a horrible thing to go through.

My wife and I have both suffered through this grief,....I lost my mother in "07" and the wife lost hers just this past May.

Cyne, Tazz

Tazz, condolences to your family, too.

Cyne... that's an interesting article, because over at Sheila's I used the Revolution in one of MY arguments, too, about how the Revolutionaries were only about 1/3 of the populace of the time!

Man... I'm constantly amazed at my own brilliance!

(And now, to the chiropractor, to have that arm I just dislocated patting my own back set back in place)

Update at my place:

The Scozz has officially endorsed the Dem for NY23. And The Newt is "disappointed." Drop by for more info.

As Ed Morrissey at Hot Air says,

"Doesn’t this prove the point conservatives had been making about Dede Scozzafava all along?"

And

"There are two ways of looking at this. Either Scozzafava doesn’t mind throwing Republicans under the bus for a little dog-in-the-manger revenge, or she’s a lot closer in policy to the Democrat than the conservative candidate. Neither of those commends Scozzafava, nor the county party leaders who handpicked her to replace John McHugh. In fact, it makes it clear that conservatives were right all along to point out Scozzafava’s unsuitability for the endorsement — and should result in replacing the GOP bosses in NY-23 who bungled it."

Sarge and Tazz

So sorry for your loss...I have also had a loss recently. My step sister died of cancer. It is hard...

Expanding on Brian's comments to me, I know we've had our "moments" here on TH that were pretty heated... if I was over the top I apologize...

And Sarge, thanks for the comments over at my place. Apology accepted.

Brian...

Your humility overwhelms...:) hope you didn't do too much damage "patting yourself on the back"...LOL!

BrianR

BrianR

SLING???

Did I miss something?

What/When, etc.

Shiela

Being retired it doesn't really matter when, but I try to get at least eight hours a day.

Sheila

I agree with you, girlfriend!

With McCain at the helm, we'd have 500,000 troops in Afghanistan by now!

Just like the Russians.

Meanwhile, Obama is fiddling while Rome burns.

But consider this. With 500,000 troops in Afghanistan, why, we'd have:

a)restored our constitutional republic;
b)secured our borders;
c)made government smaller;
d)reduced spending

......ahh, one can only dream. It would have been the resurrection of Ronald Reagan.

But get this. All these things, you see, would have made us even richer and even free-er.

And then - the enemy would only hate us even more.

So it's kind of a catch-22.

What's a good republican to do?

Jev

It was a joke referring to my comment of Sunday, November, 01, 2009 6:49 PM:

"(And now, to the chiropractor, to have that arm I just dislocated patting my own back set back in place)"

But thanks for the concern!

Sheila

I'm with you, girlfriend!

You go!

The people on this blog are responsible for Obama!

Deficit spending!

Incessant warfare!

Socialized medicine!

That would have never happened under McCain.

Those things NEVER happened under Bush!

I'm with you, girlfriend!

We have to send 10 million troops to Afghanistan, and nuke 60 million Iranians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a good republican!

Under Obama, fascism is on the rise.

It's a good thing you and I are republicans.

It's a good thing I'm not a fascist like the democrats.

You go girl!

Sheila

If the democrat Obama is unwilling to nuke Iran, what do you say we - you and I - get together and make our own nuke?

These people on this blog are cowards. They talk the talk... etc.

You and I... we're better than that.

You and I... we're good republicans.

Can we please nuke somebody????

The unemployment rate is sky-high.

Our fiat currency is nearing its demise.

Sheila.... you and I - as good republicans - we both understand that we need another war.

THERMONUCLEAR, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Sheila -

Can I kiss you?

Are you with me, babe?

On behalf of my family,

and my wife in particular, I would like to thank all of you for the kind expressions of condolence for our recent loss.

Tazz, to you I return that sympathy for your loved one.

There is good news however, I am reliably informed, that fearing she wouldn't be here tomorrow, she voted absentee for McDonnell.

Chicago is not the only place were the dead can vote!

Sarge

Hahahahaha!

Not good form to laugh about the dead.... but it's your joke!

Brian...;)

Take care of that arm...lol

BrianR

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/Featherbedding-st imulus-job-numbers-68389392.html

"Featherbedding stimulus job numbers"

"President Obama’s chief economist Christina Romer admitted several weeks ago, “It’s very hard to say exactly [how many jobs have been saved or created] because you don’t know what the baseline is, right, because you don’t know what the economy would have done without [the economic stimulus program].”"

BrianR

And the good news just keeps rolling along.

"The Golden State isn't worth it"

"Our high-benefit/high-tax model no longer works, especially compared with low-tax states like Texas."

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-voegli1-2009nov01 ,0,825554.story

"In America's federal system, some states, such as California, offer residents a "package deal" that bundles numerous and ambitious public benefits with the high taxes needed to pay for them. Other states, such as Texas, offer packages combining modest benefits and low taxes. These alternatives, of course, define the basic argument between liberals and conservatives over what it means to get the size and scope of government right."

"California and Texas are not perfect representatives of the alternative deals, but they come close. Overall, the Census Bureau's latest data show that state and local government expenditures for all purposes in 2005-06 were 46.8% higher in California than in Texas: $10,070 per person compared with $6,858."

"Between April 1, 2000, and June 30, 2007, an average of 3,247 more people moved out of California than into it every week, according to the Census Bureau. Over the same period, Texas had a net weekly population increase of 1,544 as a result of people moving in from other states. During these years, more generally, 16 of the 17 states with the lowest tax levels had positive "net internal migration," in the Census Bureau's language, while 14 of the 17 states with the highest taxes had negative net internal migration."

Yeah, Jev

Another area where the numbers aren't representative: the "jobs lost" number's low, because when people stop drawing unemployment when their benefits EXPIRE, or stop looking for work because they've given up, they're no longer considered "unemployed".

So in Cali, for example, with a 10% official unemployment rate, experts figure the REAL unemployment could be as high as 15%.

BrianR

CONGRATS YOUNG MAN ;)!

Stop by and check my take on 09/12.

"Federal Reserve Policy Audit Legislation ‘Gutted,’ Paul Says"

Are you happy now?

"Sen. Hatch Questions Constitutionality of Obamacare: If Feds Can Force Us to Buy Health Insurance ‘Then There’s Literally Nothing the Federal Government Can’t Force Us to Do’"

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/56447

The Commerce Clause, found in Section 8 of Article 1 of the Constitution, says: “The Congress shall have power to … regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.”

Hatch said this constitutional language authorizes Congress to regulate some types of commercial “activity,” which is different from authorizing Congress to force an individual American to engage in a commercial activity he or she is not presently engaged in and--as a free person--does not want to engage in. He said that “not one” of his Democratic colleagues has given a coherent constitutional argument to explain where Congress would derive the authority to do the latter.

moshe

Had no idea that the RP bill was "gutted"

Will await the outcome of the amendment RP was going to present.

BTW no I'm not happy.

Since you are following this so close, how was it "gutted."

Brian...

Who do you like for gov of California?

George, Jev, Sheila

George, thanks. Be over shortly.

Jev, other issues adhere on that "mandate", IMO.

The fact is that the Federal government has absolutely no power nor authority whatsoever to "mandate" that anybody buy anything.

Further, this "mandate" would be enforced by a tax penalty or surcharge. This raises several issues:

1. Violation of medical confidentiality, as any "enforcement" would by necessity require that people self-report medical information on their tax returns. This also raises issues of self-incrimination, banned under the Fifth Amendment.

2. Any tax surcharge or penalty would, by definition, be imposed as a punishment for not performing an action that the government has required, a de facto criminal or civil penalty imposed without Due Process, a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment. Further, this law would clearly be a de facto Bill of Attainder, prohibited under Art. 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution itself.

I have to say, if this "mandate" becomes law I can virtually guarantee a challenge in Federal Court.

Sheila, my candidate of choice at this time would be Poizner.

Brian...

Interesting. I just saw him in a debate with Cambel (sp) the other night, and I liked him.

Yeah

He's pretty conservative, and Campbell's just another Ah-nuld.

Brian

If you had known my sister-in-law you would understand the humor. Her biggest concern at the end was that she might run out of cigarettes and vodka.

Yesterday my wife and her youngest sister held a memorial for her by going to her favorite slot casino in Carolina to notify her friends and to play her favorite slots.

She was great fun, I'll miss her!

Time to vote, catch you later.

Sarge

"Her biggest concern at the end was that she might run out of cigarettes and vodka"

My kinda gal.

oh, and...

I finally looked at this post from my home computer and saw the pictures. Congrats, Gramps.

Now get your carcass over to The Weekly Claw for some real fun!

Brian.

My bro sent me some dirt on Poizner,...it seems that in the past, he has contributed to demo-RATs "AGore and horsey face Kerry"!

If that's true, imo, that means he's a RINO.

I'm leaning toward the constitution partys' "Nightingale" for now.

I wish to hell that McClintock would run!

The stranglehold that the "RATs and RINOs" have on Ca must be broken!

Craw, Tazz

Craw, thanks. Be over shortly.

Tazz... who?

Brian

It's a clean sweep in Virginia!!!

Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General by BIG margins. Now the ball is in NJ and NY's court.

Let's say it together, when conservatives run we win! HaHaHa!

Sarge

That's great for VA, but NJ would have been a great test case.
Scozzafava was probably talked into dropping out so that the Reps wouldn't have had to test their candidate against a Conservative.

This way they can bow out gratiously and ignore the real implications.

(Ya'll have probably covered all this already, but I'm not about to read through some 200 comments to try and catch up!)

Brian

Chelene Nightingale,.....she's the constitutional party candidate for Ca gov.

I think she lives in O.C.

She has a website too....Check her out.

Jev

To answer your question:

Mel Watt (D-NC), Chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee, has sided with banking interests and is working to gut substantial audit provisions from H.R. 1207. The bill Congressman Watt has sent to the full Financial Services Committee contains no audit of the Fed’s monetary policy-making authority or transparency of the Fed’s secret agreements with foreign central banks.

Without these provisions, a so-called “audit” of the Fed would be worthless....

Congressman Paul will offer an amendment to restore the provisions contained in H.R. 1207 to audit monetary policy and activity with foreign central banks. Thirteen of the 41 Democrats and all 29 Republicans on the Committee have cosponsored H.R. 1207, and if they hold the line, we will have the votes to win and restore our audit.

Ok, you're playing hard-to-get.

I kind of like that, actually.

I'm starting a fan club for John McCain, and I want you to be involved, in a very major way.

Together Sheila, you and I can ensure that every member of congress has an R after his name!

Or HER name!

Hey - I'm a compassionate conservative, like George Bush. I love women, and blacks, and homosexuals, and especially brown people in the country illegally.

I'm better than you, Mr. Democrat!

Ultimately, Sheila, our goal will be to have at least one street in every major American city named after Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Pearl, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Ruby, Platinum, Palladium, Emerald, Crosby Stills Nash and sometimes Y.

I'm irresistible, Sheila.

Sarge... Yessss!

The lessons of history reaffirmed!

Time for the GOP "moderate" hacks to pull their heads out of their butts.

Red, what "bow out gracefully"? She endorsed the Dem!

Tazz, news to me. I couldn't even find them listed as a valid party here in Cali. I KNOW they weren't on the presidential ballot last year. Neither Baldwin nor tha party, leaving me with a choice of Barr or no one (though I was perfectly happy with Barr).

I just checked the Cali SecState website:

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_f.htm

and as of today, the Constitution Party's not a qualified party.

Tazzmax...

Wow, not good about Poisner...shoot. McClintock is a great guy for sure...

Congratulations!

I am way too late on this one, but that is awesome...

"Lindsey Graham warns GOP against going too far right"

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29131.html

"The morning after Republicans lost an upstate New York House seat, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned that conservative activists will bring destruction to the Republican Party if they drive out moderate candidates across the country."

Hey, Brian, friends, countrymen,

new post up at my place on the NY23 outcome. Drop by for a perusal when you have the time.

Jev, Tazz, Cyne

Jev... how'd Snowe or McCain get elected?

Beats the bloody hell outta me.

Tazz, I'm flattered; thanks.

Yeah, right now it would either be write-in, or she could run as an unaffiliated Independant.

Cyne, thanks for the heads up. On my way.

Man, you are a busy guy... though I note still no "lads" story...

I'm just sayin'...

Brian, Jev

The RINOs are spinning like tops!

Gramnesty is dead wrong. In NY-23 they drove a liberal out of the race, the democrat was the moderate!

I see Medved changed his tune on NY-23.(see front page) Unbelievable hypocrisy!

Sarge

I don't see where that idiot Deadhead learned a goddamned thing:

"Meanwhile, the one candidate who got the biggest, loudest support from conservative media stars on Fox News and talk radio was Doug Hoffman – the season’s most conspicuous right-wing failure... The enthusiastic, over-the-top support from powerful media stars like Glenn Beck paid few apparent dividends on Election Day, as Hoffman drew far fewer votes than the moderate Republican Congressman who handily won re-election in 2008... The GOP Needs MOderates, But Not Liberals"

Deadhead's STILL got his head up his arse.

BrianR

Another Democrat Senator makes a fool of himself about the Constitution. These days it's easy when they try to defend the health care bill.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/56629

"Sen. Burris Cites Unwritten Constitutional 'Health' Provision to Justify Forcing Americans to Buy Health Insurance"

"When asked by CNSNews.com what specific part of the Constitution authorizes Congress to mandate that individuals must purchase health insurance, Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) pointed to the part of the Constitution that he says authorizes the federal government "to provide for the health, welfare and the defense of the country." In fact, the word "health" appears nowhere in the Constitution."

"“Well, that’s under certainly the laws of the--protect the health, welfare of the country," said Burris. "That’s under the Constitution. We’re not even dealing with any constitutionality here. Should we move in that direction? What does the Constitution say? To provide for the health, welfare and the defense of the country.”"

Jev

The guy's a flaming idiot and a constitutional moron.

He's obviously struggling to try to use the General Welfare clause.

This is a perfect illustration of how little these idiots know about the Constitution, and how little it means to them.

Brian

In the light of the fact that Medved hyped Hoffman on HIS radio show, does he mean talk radio is irrelevant or does he think that only the successful talkers are irrelevant?

Burris is showing his inexperience. Schumer just blew it off, but this numbnut tries to quote a non-existent constitutional passage? WTF!

Why does God hate me so much that he put me on this planet with the likes of Medved and Burris?

A low poker hand: a pair of jackoffs.

Today's shooting at Ft. Hood

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_fort_hood_shooting

"Army officer opens fire at Fort Hood, killing 12

"There was no immediate word on a motive... A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan... Officials say it was not clear what Hasan's religion was, but investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name or if he may have changed his name and converted to Islam at some point."

Yeah, I can just imagine how the powers-that-be are trying to tapdance their way around THAT one.

As for Fort Hood,

looks like he was a Muslim convert:

http://minx.cc/?post=294442

And of course everyone is trying to tip toe around that. Amazing.

Whoa, Cyne!

You're famous!

Can I have your autograph?

Lol, Brian,

"Stimulus saves nine out of every five jobs"

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-con fidential/Stimulus-saves-nine-out-of-five-jobs-69082477.htm l

"I've always believed that President Obama will take credit for saving 2 million jobs as long as there are 2 million jobs left in the United States. But his jobs report apparently goes beyong this, the Associated Press reports, taking credit for saving jobs that really don't exist."

Yeah, Jev

That in the midst of this:

http://hosted2.ap.org/CAVAN/c235f41cace842f4b560c3d81dbaa61 9/Article_2009-11-06-US-Wall-Street/id-pea3b01f55dfb4af89ed 2ab83b2ca6823

"Stocks rise as traders shrug off unemployment

"NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks rose early Friday as investors shrugged off news that more jobs were lost in October than expected, pushing the unemployment rate above 10 percent for the first time since 1983.

"The Labor Department said employers cut 190,000 jobs last month, less than the 219,000 jobs lost in September, but more than the 175,000 job losses economists had forecast. The unemployment rate jumped to 10.2 percent from 9.8 percent in September.

"The government also revised lower the number of jobs lost in August and September. The market has been expecting unemployment to top 10 percent before peaking. But the pace of job losses has accelerated and the rate is likely to go higher."

I read local press reports out

of Zimbabwe regularly out of personal interest, and one thing that I've come to expect is how regularly things written about that country, Mugabe and his party Zanu-PF, could basically apply almost word for word to the U.S. these days. This doesn't strike me as a positive thing, for some reason the phrase 'deep kimchi' comes to mind. For today's example, change land reform to gubmint bailouts/takeovers of the auto, financial and potentially healthcare sectors, Zanu-PF to Democrat, and let me know what you think.

"They demand that we accept without question Zanu-PF's decision to use the land resource to meet the party's political objectives, even if this stopped the land from meeting its former national economic objectives. And we are
supposed to be pleased that the land is no longer sustaining the high levels of business activity that led to exports, jobs, industrial inputs, food security, increasing prosperity for the country and increasing tax revenues
for government.

We are supposed to be pleased because Zanu-PF is pleased. But Zanu-PF is pleased because of the ways the changes have weakened the civil rights and powers of the electorate. So we are supposed to be pleased with the results of a process that weakened us as individuals while it disabled the whole economy.

And we are also supposed to be too respectful and fearful to complain.

Zanu-PF's claims of working to an "empowerment" objective do not mean that they wanted to see the empowerment of new independently successful business groups, or even independently successful individuals. Zanu-PF has never had
any intention of empowering anyone other than themselves."

Okay, Brian

You've been playin' Gramps for 3 weeks now. Time for some new material.

Lengthy edition of The Claw today when you're ready for it.

Philosoph, Craw

Philosoph, I fully agree. Interestingly enough, Zimbabwe's also a really great example of the perils of idiotic fiscal policy -- such as that proposed by the Dems -- with its inflation rate of over 100%.

Craw... nag, nag, nag!

That's why I'm not married anymore!

LOL

Yeah, I do need to write some new material... but in the meantime, I'll read yours.

Brian

I just don't see the fundamentals for this market enthusiasm. Housing and cars blipped on the basis of free money, GE is being fueled by the same source, gold prices are a sign of a weakening dollar, which has helped manufacturing numbers but it helps in the same way a going out of business sale helps a failed companies bank account.

Private sector dollars don't seem to be involved. I smell another bubble!

Cynewulf

What unholy act did you preform to get linked on Tree Hugger? HaHaHa!

Sarge, I don't know, but

it must have been bad, lol. After I found that one I looked a bit more and found I was linked on Green Life and some usatoday site. I'm guessing all of us have been linked to these oddball sites. I'm wondering if it's something automated that searches for sites with key words, but I don't know. Weird for sure.

Brian,

my bro got an email from Nightingale about the constitutional party in Ca.

She said it is registered as American independent party in Ca. and that her name is in there.

Their site is:...aipcalif.blogspot.com

Check it out if you have the time.

Sarge, Tazz

Sarge, yeah...

"Housing and cars blipped on the basis of free money..."

Yep. Probably most of those people simply bought earlier than they would have bought anyway, meaning that there's going to be a proportionate downturn in sales to make up for it.

Tazz, I guess that explains it, though their site doesn't mention the Constitution Party (or her). It says they're "affiliated with America's Independant Party", so something isn't right. There IS a national Constitution Party, and it's separate from "America's Independant Party".

However, the American Independant Party is a "qualified" party in Cali.

This media spin on Hasan is getting hysterical. Now,he has "allegedly" shot and killed 12 and wounded 31.Hope Hasan is enjoying his 72 virgin male camels who have been fed Viagra. These moronic reporters must absolutely SOIL themselves when having to report on ANY muslim story. sheesh.

Yeah, Clyde

The controtions they have to go through in order to "not offend the Muslim community", or not blame the "religion of peace", are really funny, when you think about it.

Of course, they had absolutely no problem blaming religious fanatcism for Nichols and McVey... but hey! That's only Christianity!

Brian

Amazing how Christianity can be impugned, mocked, and generally dismissed on a regular basis, but even QUESTION the purity of Islam,it's "OH,NO,YOU CAN'T SAY THAT!! The only thing I can come up with is these clowns must be mortified by the thought if THEY say anything about Islam, the jihadists will come after THEM first.Which, when thinking about it,may not be so bad.

Brian...

The result of Political Correctness... all the signs were there... this should have never happened...

and the terrorist is getting the best healthcare in the world as he lies in a coma, while congress figures out how they can ruin ours...

Brian

Well, it looks like the dems have their votes lined up since they are proceeding with debate (read: show trial).

I figure it passes 218 or 219 in favor just to make it look close and to give cover to blue dogs even though I doubt that any of them actually oppose it.

That's the way I'll be looking at it come 2010.

BrianR

Caption on a photo of the Ft. Hood killer;

"Mass murder at Fort Hood? Somewhat surprising.
Muslim mass murderer? No surprise whatsoever."

"Since 9/11, Muslim terrorists have murdered 52 Americans in 31 attacks on U.S. soil, including ten victims of honor killings."

This is a great site;

Well, they did it. 220 to 215. 1 r voted FOR it. Some clown from Louisiana. Not surprised at this.Obama and the goon squad up on the Hill yesterday breaking arms, making the obligatory threats and shady deals. Most likely the Senate will pass something as well. Let the 2nd American Revolution begin!

GOP is to blame for this passing

John Boehner (House Minority leader) never stalled on the health care legislation.

The large insurance corporations took the money from the banks and wrote the legislation (1900 pages) for the health care bill that nobody read. The insurance companies (Rush Limbaugh's favorite capitalist companies) is using the government as the enforcement arm to reap profits through compulsory prison sentences. Guess what, people also get to die also which fufills eugenics ideology of E. Emmanuel.

Boehner and the GOP are crying wolf. But who are they crying to? An angry constituency that will not fall for his failed leadership.

But guess what, the GOP is funded by the same insurance corporations that the Democrats are. So why would John Boehner stall the Health Care Bill? Because it is not in the GOP's best interest.

Rush Limbaugh can play Monday Morning Quarterback tomorrow with his ignorant audience and blame Democrats. Rush will never go on record stating as to why Boehner never stalled this legislation.

The blame should be the Republicans who never once made an attempt to stall this legislation through the House of Representative.

This is capitalism as Rush Limbaugh states. If you are against insurance companies, you are a socialist. What an oxymoron from the insurance companies that wrote this Health Care bill so that you pay them. They have both parties playing each other off.

10th amendment - state legislatures

Part 1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvZt2kZkwZM&feature=related

Part 8.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DDw7WwIewE&feature=related

How about contacting the state legislatures in each state and getting a bill drafted to reject the Health Care Bill on unconstitutional grounds (mandate not specified in the Federal Constitution) based on the 10th amendment?

10th amendment - all specific powers not stated in the Federal Constituiton are granted by the states.

Unconstitutional Grounds:
1) Mandatory prison sentences if you don't pay the insurance companies. (Is that the GOP platform too. Aren't they in bed with Insurance companies?)

Shameless Plug...

New post up at the BNC.

Clyde, Sheila, Sarge, Jev, Sam, Nee

Nee, on my way soon.

Clyde, that double standard has become SOP. Christianity can always be mocked... but nothing else, including atheism.

Sheila, no doubt about it. Too bad that cop wasn't a slightly better shot.

Sarge, on that, I'm posting a short essay in a few minutes.

Sam, there are a host of issues attached, the Tenth being one of them. As I said, I'm putting up a couple of thoughts in a few.

Sam

Just think about all the Democrat State legs. that support this abomination Health Care bill.

BTW I am against any single payer, universal health, public option or whatever you want to call it. I'm just remarking about your idea.

Yes it's unconstitutional [I believe so, and so do many here on TH and on the anti side].

There are many state legs., county gov't that may look at this to get the health care expense off their backs, they don't look at the bankrupting expense in the long run.

Could be the GOP=SP not a vigorous enough opposition, but when Democrats have a majority in the House it's difficult to stop them.

If you expect 50 State legs, or many of them to do this [sounds nice] but I don't think they will do it. Remember when a governor would not take stimulus money the legs overruled him?

Your daughter looks a little skanky in

that pic...

A far cry from her wedding pics, I must say.

On second thought a "Roto-Rooting" seems kind of gross.

Who's that ex-con walking next to her?

Wow Brian!

Join the ranks of grand-parenthood! I just saw this! I started YOUNG & you've just had your 1st to my 4 - you're way older than me!!! LOL :)

I guess getting married at 12 & starting a family at 15 is why everyone thinks my daughters are my sisters! Good Southern raising!

Congratulations & the name Brianna - I wish I could have been there for that speechless moment! That would be a rare occasion! Your daughter is such a beauty, when I read the health care article, I didn't see the baby photo & tho't it was a celebrity story.

Thanks, Kimberly

Yeah, you've already experienced this. It's pretty damned cool!

Thanks, too.
