Nice post, John

Intelligent, cogent and pithy. Not the kind of post one sees on Daily Kos or Huff Post. I agree about those who choose to: vote none, sit this one out, or vote for a minor candidate. Any vote not going to McCain is, in effect, a vote for Obama. I commented earlier today to someone who felt that he could not vote for McCain out of principle. I think he intended to write someone in. Unfortunately, his "principled" vote is really selfish - to satisfy himself. I prefer to vote for the country as a whole, which means I'm going against my real preference - which would be to send a message to the RNC, etc. that I'd prefer a more conservative candidate. Agreed in principle

As for me, give me McCain over Obama any day. This is hard, though. My eyes still smart from all the sticks McCain has poked in them for years.
