Chicken farms, global warming and water-boarding

Waterboarding

So it is ok for Gore to use scare tactics to promote his campaign against global warming? His movie unfortunately uses extremes that the scientists say would not happen yet this is used to "drive" people into changing their thought process.

Waterboarding is similar. It makes the person believe they are drowning, when in fact they are not. This forces a change of thought process in the individual. There is no physical damage to the person. There might be psychological problems yet that is no different than the possible problems resulting from Gore's movie.

McCain says its torture

He points out it was used - or even invented - by the Spanish Inquisition and has been used by lots of other nasty people down through the ages.

Do you want America to join the ranks of these nasty people?

By the way, you are quite cavalier in declaring a moral equivalency between water-boarding and Gore's movie. If I were to give you a choice between experiencing water-boarding and seeing Gores movie would you have to think about it?

Cavalier, no.

Accurate, yes. Part of the problem with liberal ideology is that they redefine word usage.

Examples, part of interrogation is to break down the natural defenses of the individual. When you make the temperature of the cell block colder than normal or hotter than normal, this produces a tension in the individual. However liberals see this as torture. By depriving an individual of normal sleep patterns, it creates tension in the individual. When you deprive an individual of contact with others under interrogation, you create a tension in the individual. All of these techniques are currently used and called torture by the liberals. However, the majority of people being interrogated have lived in these conditions for years. One of the keys to successful interrogation is finding an issue that creates tension in the individual whereby they will talk in order to avoid this issue. For people that are not used to water, the use of water to induce this tension is of value.

The intention of Gore's movie is to produce tension in the "western culture" viewer thereby producing the desired result. It is no different than interrogation techniques that "play" with the mental state of an individual. Even our police are allowed to lie, refuse sleep, refuse food, etc. in order to produce this tension in the individual, and the results are legal. With known terrorists, we are more concerned with producing this tension quickly. Again, there is no physical harm that occurs to the individual in waterboarding but it is effective and quick.

Do you know anyone that has been waterboarded?

Yes

amongst other forms of interrogation that liberals would call torture.
