Creeping Shari'a: Part One

PBS broadcast

Last night a PBS feature piece attempted to shed positive views on what I think was a Shari'a based uprising in the 70's to overthrow the Shah. I did not watch the entire program but it did appear they were making heros out of their actions as some kind of "end justifies the means" mentality.

One statement made in a series of narration I thought was interestingly worded, depicting differences between the Shah and Ayatollah that supposedly sparked the coup. Accordingly the Ayatollah disliked the Shah's "emancipation" of women practices. Here we have a documentary painting the picture that this righteous group of freedom loving revolutionaries were doing what they had to for the sake of restoring freedom, except for women. I couldn't help thinking that the term "emancipation" was used to further the shell game, because I think many might gloos over it as being the opposite of what it really means. Why not use the common day term of "rights" or "liberate". Perhaps I am too suspecious but I think it was patent rewriting of history PBS spin. I bet a major underwriter of the programming was the Carnegie Endowmwent.

PBS broadcast...

Sorry I missed that broadcast.

No doubt the spin will continue. If putting a couple of kids in a car bomb to make it through a checkpoint then detonating the bomb doesn't make it onto the "morally reprehensible" meter, in today's media, then we must face that Shari'a law is viewed as "no big deal" by the liberal camp.

Thanks for your comments.
