Amateur: The Campaign of Len Renard (Part 1)

Introduction

Friends: for probably ten years, I've given thought to telling the story of Len Renard. The tale has grown in the telling, and the time has finally come for the world to meet Len Renard.

Point of order: it's pronounced "reh-NARD," not "RENN-ard." If his first name rhymed with his last, someone's momma would need a talking-to.

Finally, let me make the standard disclaimers: no person in this account is intended to resemble any actual person, living or dead. Ronald Reagan, Al Gore, and Sarah Palin do not make appearances here under assumed names. It's a work of fiction. But like many works of fiction, perhaps it does bridge a much-needed gap between the world as it is, and the world as it ought to be.

This is an audience-participation thing. I really, truly, and honestly welcome your thoughts about my writing style, the events as I portray them, the verisimiltude I aim for, and anything else. This is a continuing series, or at least I intend it to be so. If I get killed on the freeways, you'll never know how it ends.

I also hope to get a kick out of people's guesses about what's happening or will happen. Get your friends involved. I may even incorporate reader ideas into the story - for, like reality, the future isn't cast in stone in fiction either!

Watch for Part 2...

Keith

I have just come across your blog here at TH. I followed the link from the comment you left at Cindy's Gettin' it Right blog. I am another Texan living just a county away from Cindy. Having read a few of your posts, I feel that I have found a kindred spirit and a fellow believer. I have also been by to check out your church's website. I am a member of Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton, Texas. I can see that you have similar conservative views to mine besides a shared faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I look forward to your next post. Feel free to comment on my blog, "Backyard Grill Blog". If you are agreeable, I would like to exchange emails with you. I have some questions I would like to ask "offsite". Mine is bmu2012@gmail.com
