Sam versus Stan (Exceptionalism or Nihilism?)

Would you please explain to me why some Americans have this adoration of the military, believing for some reason that the military is sacrosanct and out of bounds for criticism or skepticism.

This is a democracy. The military are not kings or emperors who are above everyone else. By adoring the military the way you do you bring yourself and every other American down, as though we are inferior to the generals. Why don't you love democracy?

What don't you understand about national security? Do you have ANY specific proof that General Petraeus has done or said ANYTHING that warranted such treatment by MoveOn.org? General Petraeus is NOT a politician, he got to where he is in life by hard work and sacrifice. I do adore the military. They are THE TRUE HEROES of our country as they have been since the inception of our blessed Nation. We would not have (democracy) BUT FOR our troops. You and I would not be able to enjoy this bantering back and forth to debate pressing issues, and we would constantly have to worry about the king or dictator that ruled over us guarding against insurrection. I love our American Republic more than my own life, and would gladly lay down my own life to protect the future of our country. I do appreciate your comment and hold no animus towards you as you appear to of me. Debate is what makes America great, but underhanded techniques of MoveOn are free game for me to speak out against in my free exercise of Constitutional rights.
