The Quiet Patriots

That was beautiful.

God bless you Dean. May you Brother in law be safe and successful during his deployment.
It's wonderful how God will bring "Jeff's" into our lives at just the right moments.
I understand about supporting our troops, our son joined the Air Force 11 mo. ago. He is in England training in weaponry.

Thanks for joining the ranks here at TH.

From : A fellow Patriot

Jenn

Thank you Jennifer, writing this piece re-misted my eyes when I thought back on the occasion. And yes, I do believe God does give us these little gifts.

God Bless your son and watch over him. Please pass on to him my very heartfelt thank you for his service to our country.

I am honored to be among all of the patriots here on TH. I only regret not finding this place earlier!

As a former member of...

...the Big Red One (1st Bn, 26th Inf) myself, pls pass on our love and appreciation for what he and his fellow soldiers are doing. Our prayers are for them. DD

DD

Thank you, I certainly will do so.

You have triggered my memory, Nice Story!!
I will pray for your Brother -in-Law and all of our troops for their safety. I will change my daily prayer up on my blog to refelct that. Thank You for that story!!
Darvin, Jenn...The dedication to our military, the time put in, we as Americans can not thank you enough for. It is from their service, that the USA has remained free.

THANK YOU, God Bless!!

Jason

Jason

Thank you for keeping our troops in your thoughts and prayers.

So much sacrifice for so little reward on our military's part keeps me in utter awe. It can only be patriotism that drives them because it sure as h*ll is not from the meager monetary recompense.

God Bless them all.

Let your Brother-in-law

know that he and his service brothers are in my prayer every day. Old Glory flies in my front yard as a salute to them, and my family loves and appreciates their sacrifices on our behalves. I'll be going to the "helmet" site to contribute a "thank you" for all they do for us.

Thank you Dean.

Bobbie

Thank you for your prayers, I will pass them along to my Brother-in-law.

Thank you also for checking out the Operation Helmet project. As I said in my post, I know of no other support project for our troops that has the potential to do so much. Preventing ONE head trauma is worth all the money any of us have.

God Bless you.

Dean

Amen!!

I just posted a Holiday Message for all of them.
I wish they all could see it. The job they do is overlooked, and priceless.

Jason

Jason

I most humbly agree with you sir. Your prayer posted on your blog is on it's way to my Brother-in-law.

Dean

You're now starting to come into your own here in the TH blogs and gathering a following of readers. Congrats, brother!

You're getting added to the blog roll at The Swamp!

Craw

Thanks Craw, I am most humbly honored to join your blog roll.

Great post and good cause

I am always humbled by the sacrifices our military men and women make. I am also appauled that for the small amount of 250 dollars our government would not upgrade all the helmets for our soldiers. But rest assured our government can bailout Wall Street and Detroit. Were are their priorities?

thanks Dean!

Thank your brother in law for me as well. My brother is in the military as is a guy that I just started dating. They all deserve our help!

I will certainly be donating. Thank Jeff as well for enlightening all of us!

I haven't been to Glenn Beck's site in awhile...though I did just buy his new book.

Jennifer

my brother is in the Air Force. My mother knows of some really great online family support groups if you need any information! Your son is a true American hero!

James

Thank you and Amen on your comment on our military.

I know just what you mean about the bail out and our military spending, it is deplorable. Our country should give our people going into harms way only the VERY best.

Sweetheart

Thank your guys for me also! They are all hero's just by virtue of enlisting. God Bless em.

I will pass along your thanks to Jeff, I am sure he will humbly appreciate it.

BTW, you and Jenn should go over to The Crawfish's other haunt: http://www.allmilitary.com

They have a fantastic family support section with several forums. I've posted a few comments on a couple forums there but have been too preoccupied with this blog to contribute much so far.

Dean

That was really nice and a touching story. I am glad people are out there who care and care about the men and women that are defending our country. It is always nice to hear a story like that.

I work with some people who barely remember that we are fighting wars. Since they do not see it on tv anymore, it must be over mentality!

Sue

Thank you.

I agree, America's memory is very short term. It is sad. I think we have become way to accustomed to instant gratification and that might be part of the problem. No one seems to be willing to wait long for anything anymore.

But it IS refreshing when you do find a soul who has not forgotten our military and the struggle we face.

DeanD

Dittos to what GunnyG said. You fit right in here at TH.

And, turn about is fair play, as my mama used to say, so, you are on the Rants and Raves Blogroll.

I am also a vet, USAF 70-74, and am of the belief that the only tue heroes in this world are those who willingly put their own lives on the line to defend our liberties and our lives (unlike air force sparkies). The US Armed Forces being the largest group of heroes, followed, without a doubt, by law enforcement, firefighters, rescue teams, intelligence officers, and their families who support them as well. There are no heroes in sports or movies, or in protests or politics. Unless they are also one of the willingly brave and selfless listed above.

We have like opinions, as great minds tend to do. My feelings on your topics are in my blog. Feel free to offer your suggestions for improvement.

Glenn

Thank you for your kind words and warm welcome. I am truly honored that you are adding my blog to your honor roll.

I completely agree with you on your definition of "Hero". My time was also spent in the USAF(76-80). Since this was peacetime service I do not consider my time spent heroic. I did enlist vollunteraly and I WAS willing to go in harm's way. With a CiC like Jimmah Carter sometimes it was embarrassing to admit being in the military. My comrades and I were SO pissed when the Iran Embassy fiasco went down.

I will be visiting your blog regularly. Feel free to offer any advice you may have for me. I am a total FNG here and will certainly appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you

... for posting this valuable information. I have forwarded it on to all my contacts.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is probably the most common - certainly the most devastating combat threat our brave warriors face.
That something so inexpensive, providing such a great measure of protection, is not automatically included with every issue is a travesty.

Saltwater

Your most welcome and I want to thank you for forwarding on the information to your contacts.

Our troops should have nothing short of the best. Getting the beancounters to agree is difficult at best.
