A Bit Unfair

I think your characterization is a bit unfair. There is certainly a rightward bias here, but the range of opinions is certainly much broader than your characterization would suggest.

In fact, you may find your intended role is already being filled by a number of others. Look for Black Knight or RealAmerican4Change to see the people already forming what they consider a loyal opposition.

Actually, I have to say, the opinion here is much more diverse than on Slashdot. Well, than Slashdot was about 2-3 years ago. I eventually got sick of Stallman worship and Linux fanboydom, and had to stop reading. (Though I am still enough of a geek that I wrote about the GPL on my blog here, and its rather arrogant attitude of knowing better than the end user what sort of copyright everyone should use.)

But back to my point, perhaps it was the article you chose, or maybe you are not making enough distinction between those on the right and seeing all conservatives as "dittoheads", but I would argue that opinion here is quite diverse, if fairly strongly right wing. Still, even for a right wing site, the diversity of opinion is greater here than on Huffington Post or DailyKos.

Well, enough of my thoughts. Welcome to Townhall. I think you have an uphill battle as there are already a lot liberal voices, as well as a number of those in the center, but good luck.

I think you're probably right

And I certainly hope so.

I do appreciate the mention of the other examples of non-conservative bloggers.

I find /. amusing, but I too find the fanboyism and uninterrupted MS bashing tedious, so I tend to stay away from those areas.

I have no idea whether I'll stay and make a net contribution, or just fade away after a few posts.

I do appreciate that you invested as much time as you did in crafting a polite response with valid points and useful information.

If I felt you represented the majority here, I would never have dreamed of initiating a blog.

Robert...

It is a lonely place, townhall.com.

We have rarely had the pleasure of intelligent debate with the left as, most often, they are unable to present a rational argument for their opinions. For the most part, they resort to name calling and axclamations of conservative evils totally unfounded and, really, fabrications they don't even try to validate.

Welcome. I look forward to well thought out, rational expressions of a liberals outlook on these trying times.
