Hello, Glenn. Much of what you say makes good sense. Technology has advanced since the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill that we should open up the reserves ASAP (Norway gets most of its oil from the frigid North Sea and is doing quite well). No refineries have been built in the USA for 30 years, but the oil companies haven't complained much about that. Nor have they beefed about speculation on the spot market.
While Honda is introducing a line of hydrogen-powered cars, the US automakers keep spitting out SUVs, Hummers, and mega-sized trucks. It's not only government regulation at fault here. Something is wrong with the American version of free enterprise. And we are the ones who end up getting drilled.

Good to see you. Yep, the safety of new drilling ways for oil, coal, coal shale, natural gas is a fact but the liberal Dems and enviros do not want to use that effort. Even nuclear energy is off the table for these dolts. With an Obama victory , socialism and pacifism will triumph for a generation. And with the latest polls on Religion now up for grabs and Christianity on the downslide, I suspect that many Christian voters will go isolationist and await the Second Coming. They may have to wait a very long time.
