Well Dean,
DD & Craw will be proud of you. Me too. You are certainly right that we have strayed far from the principals our fore fathers founded this nation on. I don't know what your Faith is, but global rule is in keeping with end time prophesy and it sure looks like that's where we're headed. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the upcoming bunch of thugs to create new amendments to our Constitution. They are more apt to shred the one we've got. All the more reason for us to continue to speak up.
Good work, Dean.

...well put . I'd like to see the GOP have the nerve to come out and emphasize the responsibilities of the citizenry. Yes, they'd catch a lot of flak from the left but they'd also gain much respect. I like the idea of a Responsibility of the Citizen amendment. Good start DeanD.
No you have to learn how to create a Hyperlink and all that good stuff. And if you want to get fancy like the Gunny, learn to paste cool pictures and stuff. DD

Thank you for your kind comments and encouragements.
Bobbie, I consider myself a Christian but I am not a regular churh attendee. I do agree that things are heading closer to the prophesy of Revelations.
I'm not holding my breath on an amendment either, but I do not recall the subject of responsibility being addressed in the past.
Gunny, EXACTLY!
Darv, I'm not totally illiterate about HTML, etc, but I do need to figure out the interface here. I composed this post in Word and tried to paste it but kept getting a "disallowed html" error. Still not sure what that is all about. If anyone knows of a tutorial or help file for that interface I would appreciate a link to it.
Hopefully my next post will be less rambling and more to the point.

Dean D.: Just learn not to flinch...
Writing for the blog is different from other word smithing only in that no one is riding shotgun, and your rear is always exposed. Don't let an occasional typo unnerve you. And when you soon realize how fast Townhall's monitor eats and spits out your gems of profundity, be prepared to just keep on keeping on. This thing is a voracious word monster. The faster you write, the faster it eats and burps.
I perceive that you will do well. After all, your mentor, Craw, was born in Fort Worth (or Dallas) and that's like money in the bank.

Agreed!! and well put.
Reality and the truth, as well as constuctive sarcasm all work for good postings. Just watching the left on a daily basis, is almost like a circus side show, there is usually a daily occurance of stupidity somewhere.
Good Luck, talk to you soon.

Thank you for the advice, I will try my best to heed it! I can definitely see the need for thick skin. I think this blog exercise will be more of an educational experience for me than I first anticipated.
I am well familiar with the Fort Worth area, I have dear friends in surrounding communities, Breckenridge and Mineola. Not to mention spending a few loooong nights bar hopping near the Stockyards!

I agree, truth trumps all. I am a pretty pragmatic and rational person, learning to deal with the leftie loons will probably be my biggest challenge here! Facts do not seem to mean much to those wayward souls.
I'm not sure how often I will have time to post new works, but I am planning to try hard to not let things get too stale around here.

Dean. GWB loves the Tarantula...
Did you ride the Trantula from Grapevine to the Stockyards in Fort Worth? When the Prez made political jaunts into the area, those of us auditing his preferences always rode the classically replicated old train that runs about 15 miles between the North Fort Worth Stockyards and the picturesque town called Grapevine.
You must have mortgaged the farm for that night out. Most go to Billy Bob's to satisfy their curiosity and awaken the next day in dire need of a "bailout."
I'll bet you bought Justin Boots, a Stetson and a Mexican Silver belt buckle, too.

Most of my time spent in and around Fort Worth was back in the late 70's. I'm not sure that I have ridden the Tarantula, I guess I would remember if I had though. I only get the chance to visit your area on rare occasions.
LOL, yes, I did pick up a Stetson, a Baily and Resistol hats, some Justin boots and a buckle while I was there. Of course, at the time I was rodeo'ing. I used to ride rough stock (Bareback Bronc) and later went on to timed events (Team Roping).

Thank you for the welcome!
I saw the FT website article the other day and forwarded the same link to DD. He wanted me to do a blog on it but I passed it back to him until I get more familiar with this new set up. I will be digging up more Tranzi stuff in the future though.
I sorta winged this first post, trying to express some of my many views on these two subjects. I think it will take me a while to sort out and orginize my thoughts and get them on e-paper. I have a bad habit of rambling at times and hope to avoid doing so here!
BTW, I just recieved a reply from Dr. Fonte today. He said he appreciated the support I extended to him in my original email. I highly encourage everyone who sees the Tranzi issue as a threat to send him a thank you also.

I think it is going to take me some time to figure out how to do a lot of things on this blog. I did notice a post somewhere that mentioned a problem with TH accepting Word pastes on the blogs. Something about having to re-format the rtf from Word.
I am going to TRY to have something new weekly. We'll see how that goes. I'm learning all kinds of new words like; Muse, Inspiration and Tendonitis!

Dean. RoedeeOers tell great tales...
Nothing more revealing about a man than his thoughts at the end of the first night of competition in a Rodeo. If you tell me you took first day money in bull riding at Calgary, I'll get out the old Kikapoo Joy Juice and toast you 'til Mammy Yokum gets my Sunny Side Up and slab of salt pork ready.
Seriously! I always must ask. What was the "mind chemistry" that led you that first time to walk into the comntestant's office and put down $500 to enter bulldoggin' or bull ridin' or calf ropin'? Do you still raise those beautiful little cuttin' horses? When we visited back home last month, we drove down into beautiful Erath County. Stephenville, you know. On "The Mister Ranch" we saw at least 100 show quality bulls in one pasture and at least a thousand seed bulls in flat land grazing. Yes. The spirit is still there, at least.
The kids at Tarleton State University at Stephenville still train to rodeo. They are the gentlest and toughest youngsters you would ever want to meet. They'll survive Obama. They're conservative by instinct and nature, but they vote Democrat. Can you explain that? I'm workin' on a rationale without much success.
Happy Trails, pard!

Yeah, rodeo folks can tell some tall ones. The funny part is most of the tall ones are true! I could tell you about the time my buddy rode his horse into the dinner club/bar and his ole horse helped this tourist lady out with her chef salad...talk about a shocked look on someones face!
I am sure your students down there are only professing to be Dems out of need. With the pressure exerted by the academic elite it has become survival mode for most students nowadays. You can be sure that the majority on the rodeo team there will be conservatives in thoughts if not words. Horses and cattle tend to lend some common sense to ones thoughts.

Dean D. You've won your first stripes...
For decades i have slammed the academic elites at
every opportunity, even at Cal when seeking a doctorate. My mind has numbed and calloused over the years in what seemed a futile gesture. I cannot begin to record the incidence of damage I have witnessed as I resided in their midst on no less than seven campuses.(My news assignment was at a few of the anarchist incubators.) Fortunately, I was beyond their vindictive reach, since I always earned my livelihood as a newsman.
My degrees were so important to me as i earned them; but there came a time when i wanted to burn them in protest of the degradation drowing these camouses. After all, I realized after my 40th birthday that anything of value in guding my life had come from the western movies starring Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, not these intellectual grog shops. Oh, i gained from the science labs; and I had an opportunity to consider the classics and learn a little Latin.
On balance, though, nothing at Cal or Loyola or U of Wash. was so useful as Gene's "Do Right" commandments.
I sense that you have the same consciousness, though perhaps without the "cow lot" movie philosophy.
Few have understood how I could disdain Arnold Toynbee and preach Gene Autry.
Good work!

Thank you sir, your kudos mean alot to me.
I viewed my share of cow lot productions as a kid, I'm barely, but just, old enough to have seen the Roy Rogers show on B&W TV. You are right, they DID espouse doing right. Honor and integrity meant something in that time. Sadly, the new philosophy seems to be "Screw you, I got mine!".
I am constantly told by friends that I was born 200 years too late. I've been a real cowboy, packer, trapper & hunter. I consider myself an accomplished woodsman.
I was taught a man's word is his bond. I was also taught that you must do $1.10 worth of work for $1.00 pay because your employer needs to make a profit to stay in business. If you can't do a profitable job for your employer neither of you will make it in the end.
I never attended classes at one of our vaunted higher education institutes. I joined the military immediately after High School. Maybe that is why my brain has not been sucked out and replaced with lib mush. =)

You all must read Mike Adams here in Town Hall. I love the way he slams the liberals in universities.
It is sad that all those hippies and terrorists grew up to be professors but understandable...it's where they can do the least work and the most damage for the most money.

Let's Here It For Pithiness!!
Where have all the peoples principles gone?
The intellectual elite is neither intellectual or elite, they lack the logical rational objectivity needed to solve problems efficiently and expeditiously enough to not return us to the stone age. A good example of this, are your Extreme and Armchair Environmentalists they do not consider the costs of stiffling the economy national security and overall environmental safety ie the problems with ethanol, windmills, solar panels, etc. Secular Progressives are neither secular or progressive, they hinder progress and have adopted science as a religion instead of just a tool. Liberals are no longer liberal they tolerate the anything goes society and throw stones at anyone who is morally ethically and or people of religious faith. These are just my opinions of course.
Happy Holidays

at that time i had some health problems. I did get as far as the Naval flight training induction center at love Field. They were still flying Hellcats then, and I did so want to be able to land on a carrier deck. The L19 was just a little too unsophisticated for a hotshot like me, but i was a deadeye shot with an aerial camera. At least with a cannon camera, I wasn't in danger of blowinbg off a foot.
